This book surprised me. I haven't read that much of Nora Roberts, and this is my first JD Robb book so I didn't know what to expect. Someone recommended it to me, and I'm glad I read it. The story is split into two parts. The first takes place in the now and is about a diamond heist gone wrong. The two main characters in the story are Max who is the insurance guy for the diamonds, and the other Jaine is the daughter of the man who stole the diamonds. they end up falling in love as they try to fi...more

Having never read any of Nora Roberts or J.D. Robb's work before (they're the same author, in case you didn't know), I quickly found myself enjoying the tempo and intrigue Roberts managed to establish in the very first pages of the book.

I am really glad I read this book. I like Nora Roberts a lot, but I have been hesitant to try her J.D. Robb books. Cop books aren't usually my thing, and I get bothered by high body counts and graphic violence. I have to space out books like that, and this series is so long that I just couldn't face it.
This was the perfect way in for me -- half the book is typical Nora, and then the story continues in the world of Eve Dallas. It gave me a taste of the "In Death" books and made ...more

The first time I read this book I was already a Nora Roberts fan, but had not read any J. D. Robb books. I normally don't get into futuristic or murder mysteries much.
After reading this book I was hooked. I began aquiring all the JD books and promptly turned my daughter onto them. We are now in the process of completing her collection, as I already own them all.
I Would recommend this series (...in death) to anyone who likes a) a good 'who done it'
b) a REALLY good love story

I had such high hopes for this book. I loved the first half, written as Nora Roberts. It was funny, sexy, fast-paced, exciting and just great. The characters were lively and well thought out.
Then I read the second half, the J.D. Robb story. It was a typical Eve Dallas tale and not bad as such. But the plot was obvious and I had the killer figured out from the beginning. It was too predictable and became boring quickly.
An entertaining read, but not one of her best.

I ran out of time travel books, so I grabbed this one off my bookshelf to reread. The first half is a Nora Roberts contemporary romance/thrillerish, while the second is a classic JD Robb case with ties back to the first half. It's time travel if you squint...and maybe stand on your head. It's fun to watch the places where her styles really do diverge as Roberts and Robb. And Peabody continues to be awesome.

It was awesome- from start to finish.
Another "just can't put it down!" rating!
I love how the author blends her work with the work she does under her pen-name. It was truly the best of both worlds. I can't usually stomach much of the sappy romance genre, but this one wasn't like that, and having it merge with all things Dallas and Roarke was such a plus. Great idea! Great book!

This book was awesome!! I am not usually into the "short story" type, and this book is actually 2 separate stories that are connected. I thought these stories were the perfect mix of romance & mystery. JD Robb does a very good job of writing "in the future" - I tend to stay away from all things futuristic and actually find myself very much enjoying her work. Definitely recommend!

I liked the way this book combined the two styles of writing. The first part of the book was a Nora Roberts gooey romance, with a little mystery thrown in. The second part was what happened in the next generation, in 2058, and is a cop-novel starring Eve Dallas. It was nice to get both perspectives.

Nora Roberts writes about a cozy small town, a young women named Laine who runs an antique shop, a jewelry hiest in NY and a handsome stranger who shows up in Laine's store to investigate it. The story is continued into the future in part 2 by JD Robb, the sci-fi psuedonym of Nora Roberts.

Although I've read quite a few of NR writing as JD Robb, this was the first that had her romance writer style. Not as over the top as I expected, but realistic and a fun read. Loved the connection to the characters I have grown to love in her detective books.

any nora roberts fan
this book is amazing!!!!!!! actually all of her books are, but that's not the point. i'd tell you more, but i'd end up giving it all away, and that's what had me hooked. you don't know what's going to happen next and you never want to put it down.

This was the first book of JD Robb that I've read. I was unsure of the story line at first. I liked how you saw the differences in the writing between Nora Roberts and JD Robb. This is where I got seriously hooked on the character of Lt. Eve Dallas.

These are murder/detective books that are addictive! They generally have 1-2 smutty parts, but the book overall is a "can't put down." I liked the entire series by J.D. Robb - a pen name for Nora Roberts.

I liked the Robb portion of the book better than the Roberts. I found this one 'ok', but not one of my favorites. I've only read through #6 of the In Death series, so I jumped way ahead to #20 with this one. (Won't do that again).

Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb, writing a book together? Hm. Must be neat writing with your alter ego, ha! I love the first part, and I also enjoy reading the second part, where I meet Eve Dallas and her yummy partner, Roarke.

This is broken into 2 parts. The first section is written as Nora Roberts. That part was good. The 2nd part was written as J.D. Robb and I just didn't like it as much. It kinda fizzled out on me.
