This book centers around an angst-ridden teenage girl living in small-town Georgia and her long-lost cousin Nora. Nora is in her 20s or 30s, and has lived a colorful life. She is not afraid to say what she thinks, which shakes up the town. Nora becomes a mother figure to Peyton, and Peyton discovers a secret Nora is hiding. Peyton also learns how to grow up.
