I liked this book because it had the cat in the hat in it.

This was way too long to actually read during preK story time, but I displayed it as an example of easy nonfiction that the kids could pick up. It is less of a picture book and more of an easy/beginner reader, but it was a good display because it showed parents that there are easy books available in our nonfiction section. I had two different kids want this book, and both families checked out a copy. One family came back today to find more in the Dr. Seuss Learning Library Series.

Recommends it for: Home Schooled, Science learners

This was a very nice Cat in the Hat book. The text is 90% in rhyme but learning rhyme. It's a science book without being 'in your face Science' book. My special needs teen age son enjoyed this book as I read it to him. It talks about various things in the sea and answers questions like what makes waves, why the sea appears blue, and why the water is salty etc. It was very nice.

Cute, informative, alliterative and good rhyming for the most part. Yes, it's a shameless rip-off of the good Dr. S, but as non-fic for kids goes, good stuff. Part of a series.

This book was strange, I didn't know people could use Dr. Seuss books for their own writing.
Lacey
Wasn't my favorite and my daughter wasn't too interested in it either.

We learned a few things about the creatures who call the beach home, but we were left with lots of questions. This would probobly go over better with kids who have actually experienced a trip to the beach.
Not nearly as good as "on beyond bugs" by the same author.

This book is part of the cat in the hat learning library but is written by Tish Rabe. She does a good job matching the rhythm of Dr. Seuss' books but there is more information. Children could name many many different things they learn from this book.

I loved Cat in the Hat as a child, and Conner has truly enjoyed a couple of the Learning Library books. We got this before we went to the beach - and it was a great teaching tool - talks about the tide, the different types of shells, etc.

Read with my little brother. Fun format to read and learn real science facts at the same time. This answered lots of why and how questions that are common from four year olds!

I really dislike this series of posthumous Suess books, but my 4 year old son loves them.

A book children can learn to read to learn more about things we find at the beach.
