Only veteran author Danielle Steel can make dysfunction this fashionable! In Malice, her 37th potboiler, the gloves come off. Life is no fairy tale for teenager Grace Adams. The preternaturally quiet and dowdy daughter of Watseka's favorite son, lawyer John Adams, and his lovely, cancer-stricken wife Ellen, Grace has an ugly little secret that she's kept for four years. My first book by Daniel Steel. I found it incredibly insightful and beautifully heartbreaking. Big words, but I mean them completely.
The summary here pretty much tells you how the story progresses. It follows the journey of Grace, a girl who is victimized and has endured far more than should be fair. Her strength and character are an important part of the story, and leave you inspired.
This book deals with abuse, both physical and mental. It captured my complete attention and didn't give me any t...more

The story is about a young Grace Adams who is physically, and emotionally abused by her father with the knowledge of her mom who is quite ill, then when the mom dies,
grace refuses to give in to her dad’s demands which obviously leads to being raped more but one night she snapped and she couldn't take it any more, now she ends up killing her father & landing in jail ! There is no relief in jail for poor grace, as here too she is raped by her inmate, so its not the end of her misery. After ser...more

Grace Adams is a woman with a past full of deep, dark, hurtful secrets. A stunning beauty, daughter of an influential lawyer, she has spent the last years nursing her dying mother through her final battle with cancer. On the night of her mother's funeral, she is brutally raped by her father and, after years of such repeated abuse, she snaps and kills him.

Only 17 years old, she faces the death penalty in a town that is only too willing to believe in and continually perpetrate the supposedly perf...more

This is my favorite book among all Daniel Steel's books up to date. Mostly her books represent the extreme of every issue pertaining our community giving them an unrealistic touch. Malice. though, on one hand representing the extreme of media's interference to ruin one's life also corresponds to the hardcore realities of incest cases in our society. Grace Adams a teenager of 17 is forced to kill her father while he attempted to rape her. As the story continues we learn that she was forced to for...more

I don't understand why other people thought this book was terrible! I thought this was a great book, although there were some sentences that seemed like "run ons" to me. I make a lot of run ons though so I shouldn't say anything. Back on topic"." I know I am still very young, and I haven't developed a vast knowledge of what kind of books seem right for me, and what doesn't.. I literally thought this book was great! I wasn't really too keen on the idea of how Danielle went to a lot of detail of...more

The story follows the life of a seventeen year old Grace Adams, who loses her mother due to cancer and has a legend of a father, loved by the entire community of Watseka. A renowned lawyer with immense love for the people, he is the epitome of goodness and integrity. On the night of her mother's funeral, Grace is attacked and raped in the most bestial fashion, leading her to commit a murder which was far from intended. However, Grace is blamed for her own plight, with no one standing up for her....more

Every now and again, I am given a pile of books of a genre I do not buy. I think it is healthy to read some of these. Although hey are supposedly set in reality, they are often less believable than fantasy stories I prefer !!

I was so surprised with this one, honestly you would think that an author who has written so many books wouldn't forget a small but important detail...DNA testing, blood splatter analysis, scene of crime photos...etc Yep I've watched and read a few good crime series ad am no...more

After her years spent in jail, she can not get away from the disturbing night of her mothers funeral, and the past struggles seem to follow her everywhere she goes. When the whole world seems against Grace she meets Charlie Mackenzie and live seems to take a turn for the better, but will...more

This book has been out for years and I have never read anything by Danielle Steel before. I have to say I was impressed, although she is a very popular author I was not sure she would appeal to me. This book is full on, fast paced and one that is difficult to put down. Grace's character gets to you right from the start and you are vying for her all the way to the bitter end. Her story is full of horror, hurt and she certainly has more than her fair share of hardship. So much so, that when she me...more

I don't usually read Danielle Steel books. I admit it; I am a book snob and for some reason her books have a negative connotation that other "love stories" do not. But my roomate Korie gave it to me and said that it was good, so I read it (with great prejudice I have to admit). It really wasn't bad, but for some reason could not overcome the negative feelings I had about the author enough to make me want to read more. I am not judging those of you who read Danielle Steel; it is a personal choice...more

In her 37th bestselling novel, Danielle Steel tells the compelling story of a woman who must struggle to overcome a shattering betrayal, and the cruelest kind of malice.

At seventeen, the night of her mother's funeral, Grace Adams is attacked. It is not the first time, and a brutal crime ensues.

And to everyone's horror, Grace will not tell the truth. She is a young woman with secrets too horrible to tell, with hurts so deep they may never heal. She is also beautiful enough for men to want her no...more

Danielle Steel é a única autora a quem eu perdoo a previsibilidade nos romances. É a única autora a quem eu perdoo a descrição exaustiva.

Billiant Book I must say. However contains uncomfortable material, its struggle of a young girl against the big wide world; how she manages to settle down alone, there are enemies and friends she meets along the way. Marvellous plot, always a unexpected turn. After a troublesome late adolscent past she manages to find love and how her past attacks her current life. A sad and gripping tale of a girl and how she learns her mistakes for the past. A must read, and I would give this book 4/5

Malice is the only book by Danielle Stelle that I have enjoyed. I still remember picking up a copy of its bright yellow cover which was fairly worn out from my local oibrary. It was such an engrossing read that I could not stop reading it even whilst dinner time, and finished it the next day. When I went to return to the library to,exchange for another Danielle Steele book, I realized that this might be the only good book of Danielle Steele that ienjoyed.

Loved It.This is the book I read when I was 9 years old.You must be thinking I'm too young to be reaading a book like this well I was. This book was so good.I remember reading the first chapter on top of my bunkbed.I was so into it.Some people might think the details are too graphic but if it wasn't for the graphoc details I don't think the book would be so successful.Seriously Recommend IT.AWESOME.I couldn't find a another Danielle Steel book this good.

This is the story of Grace, her damaged life and how she fights with her past to win herself a place in the society she deserves; it is the victory over Malice. Her journey sounds so real that you want to put yourself in Grace's shoes to connect with her experiences. Steele shows that life's not easy and despite all the troubles that life presents us, we have to get up every time we fall and make a difference to those who fall like us.

UGH!! i wish she was a better writer! i am probably the only person in america that doesn't like her writing, but there it is. the plots of her books are pretty good, predictable, but good. but i hate how her sentences describing things go on and on and on. i don't know why i read this book. honestly, i just needed something to occupy my mind as i sat out in the sun the yesterday.

My mom gave me this to read, back some time in 2005. I'm not an avid book reader, and had before 2005 read approx. 3-4 books, for school purposes only. My mom was sure this would capture my interest and handed it to me for reading the backside of the cover. It did capture my interest. A young girl who commits a violent crime, when defending herself against her father's sexual abuse attempts at her, when her mother has just died. The poor girl does not wish to speak of it, and to tell the truth t...more

This is one of the first books that I remember falling in love with. Grace's story is full of heart break, but also overcoming the heart break and making the most of her life. No matter how many times I read this book I still find myself crying at the injustice and heartache the h goes through. DS did a great job creating a truly amazing h and a heartwarming story.

I found this in a rental house and picked it up, planning only to skim through a few pages. It's not really the type of book I'd normally read, but somehow I got into it and ended up reading the whole thing. The book had an interesting (though somewhat ridiculous) plot, but GOOD LORD has the woman never heard of a semi-colon????? It drove me absolutely insane!!

Tyypillinen tarina Steeleltä. Nuorena isän hyväksikäytön kohteena, sitten vankilaan murhasta, lopulta mahtava mies ja upea perhe, kunnes kaikki paljastuu. Sitten vaikeuksien kautta voittoon. Tässä kirjassa aikarakenne pomppii, välillä mennään nopeasti ja kerrotaan epäolennaisia yksityiskohtia, sitten mennään taas hitaasti. Tämä on hieman häiritsevää.

this was the first adult book I read many years ago when I was still a teenager and it has always been in my top ten best books. grace is a young woman who those closest to her hurt and abused her to the very core but she came out fighting and strong. danielle steel may not be everyones cup of tea but she is a good story teller

This was on a shelf in a rental house. I think I've read one Danielle Steel book before this one, and I doubt I will pick up another one (even if it's on a shelf in a rental house). No real plot, no real story, but the author seemed to try to write an epic novel. It spanned many many years of things happening, but really, who cares?

Grace had been sexually abused and beat-up by her father, with the help of her cancer-stricken mother, for years. Grace eventually killed her father "during the act" and spent 2 long years at a women's prison. Other things happened through the years until she was free at last. Or was she? Could her secrets be kept secret? What a wonderful read that had many twists and turns.

Danielle is a very graphic writer. She writes so that you as her reader is there in the story.
This novel has dramatic pictures as violence by father, serving a sentence in vain etc. what what can happen in our days.
At the end of the novel Danielle allows Grace to be loved the way she should have from the beginning.
Nancy
Wow this book is definitely a roller coaster of emotions. She really has suffered a lot and although she did have moments of happiness it was very little compared to what she suffers. It's a gut wrenching book that kept me want to put the book down for the the unfair injustices but I wanted to read more till I finish it. Great book!!

Though I love reading Danielle Steel books I cannot say I liked this book. The central theme and it's consequent effects on the future of the protagonist Grace are so hard to read and digest that it took me a long time to complete it. It was more of Sydney Sheldon in Danielle Steel.

Read it if you absolutely have to.

I would not recommend this book.
