I've really been enjoying this series as a light-hearted good read, that often surprise me with the 'whodunnit' or backstory for the crime. So I was really looking forward to another installment in the series and *very* disappointed to say the least in the fact that there was only one 'surprise' in the book and it was revealed in the first half of the book.
I love Goddy and Betsy, but I've got to say that I could see everything happening a looooong ways off in this one. I had to force myself ...more

This is her latest title in the needlepoint series. It came out last December. Her newest one is due next December Thai Die. Betsy Devonshire, the needlepoint store owner/sleuth is barely in this one. She conveniently breaks her ankle or leg can't remember in the first chapter. The weight of the plot is then transferred on Godwin, ...more

Ferris just keeps getting better and better. Though I figured out "whodunnit" early on, I still enjoyed the antics of Betsy Devonshire and friends. All the series regulars are back and true to form. Goddy must take over sleuthing and store management duties as Betsy is laid up with a broken leg (and an unusual house guest). He gets off to a slow start investigating a theft from the Embroidery Guild of America but soon gains his sea legs. There's plenty of small-town happenings to keep ...more

Another good installment in Ferris' needlework mystery series. Betsy is actually trapped in her apartment with a broken leg, a la Rear Window. Her binoculars for this particular mystery are her friends, who go out and interview and find great clues that lead to the answer of who killed Bob Germaine and stole the Heart Fund check. More fun desciptions of Excelsior and surrounding Mpls. area.

I read this because the title was clever. Surprisingly, the book, which I anticipated would be a bit of fluff, held my interest until the end. I haven't read anything else by this author, but I might read some other books in this series (if I needed light reading for a plane ride, or beach fare).

The whole storyline about the crow was totally convoluted. Not enough time in the store doing projects with the girls. AND Goddy's character was really one dimensional this time around. That is all. But thanks for letting me read it, Sharon!

Everyone's breaking bones in this mystery, including the killer! Not until the last page do you find out who took the money and killed the guy. Easy read mystery.

Did not like this as well as the other books in the series. It just seemed lame and mostly about the assistant, Goddie, who is not my favorite character.

A good read. You don't have to be into needlework to enjoy Ferris' books. (I just skip over the parts that are boring to me.)

Murders should not be so much fun. The whole Crewel World crew, staff, customers, and the rest of community make for a delightful reads.

When will Betsy do her own sleuthing again? She's turning in to Nero Wolfe with Godwin as her Archie...
