Maybe it's the books I've been choosing lately, but I'm noticing a common thread between them all: inconsistently weak main characters.
This is my second David Nicholls' book. And with both of his stories, the main character (male) does shady things that end up sorely hurting him in the end...shady things that are transpired, it seems, by their insecurities.

This is not a heavy read, thus ideal for summer garden or beach reading - easily picked up to read again when you've stopped people watching. Don't think that I could say that I've learned anything from this book however to my naive being it does appear to open the door on the acting world about which I knew zilch beforehand.

Another fun easy read, read this in two days on the train to and from work. I like David Nicholls--his Starter for Ten was also a fun easy read. In the same vein as Tony Parsons, John O'Farrell, Mike Gayle...British boy version of chick lit. Instead of pink covers, they should all have blue covers.

I can never be overly critical of books like this. It's cheerful, funny, entertaining. It's not a book that I will read again, I think, nor a book that will stick in my mind as a "must read", but if you want a light-hearted rom-com, this is as good any.

I started to listen to this one in the car and it just didn't grab me. Not much else to say about it, other than that was a bummer because I LOVED the movie Starter for 10, based on a novel by this author.
