Very rarely, if ever, does a sports book or memoir provide both entertaining stories and insightful looks at strategy. Jack McCallum keeps a good balance between the off the court activity versus on court action. From an accomplished senior writer of venerable Sports Illustrated, a reader should expect nothing less.

It was interesting to read about the players' backgrounds and why they act the way they do. However, the inserts of locker talk was a little random and not very funny (as I suspect was supposed to be humorous). But the book does highlight how well the team works together, and that I admire.

How much do you like basketball? If you really love it, if the debate about who should be the MVP in the NBA actually interests you, this is a great book. Otherwise, well, skip it. Since I love the game, I loved the book.

jack mccallum recounts his time spent with the 2006 phoenix suns team. very interesting details and insiders perspective. he is a little too critical of some of the players i thought.

This book provides insight into the key players of the 2005-2006 Phoenix Suns and some of the personalities on the team and the internal things that go on off of the court as well

Not a book for the casual basketball fan, but if you're into the NBA this is a great read. Unprecedented access behind the scenes of an NBA team.

A great look at the inner workings of a current day NBA franchise, by one of the (in my opinion) premier NBA beat writers.

A quick read, worthwhile if you want the inside look at how at least one team is operating in the modern NBA
