A much belated review.

I read this a few months ago and have been putting off my review. Not anymore! This is the second bind-up (the second half of the second book and the complete third book) in The Secret Circle series by L. J. Smith. This volume concludes the original series that she wrote in the 90s. Yes, there are a couple more books that pick up where the original trilogy left off, but those were written years later by ghost writers after Harper decided to fire Smith from moving forward w

Overall I liked it, but I found it hard to like any of the characters aside from Nick. He was the only one that held my interest from beginning to end. I did manage to warm up to Diana and a few other characters, but Cassie bugged me ever since book one and continued to bug me throughout "The Captive, Part 2." She managed to redeem herself in "The Power" since she wasnt running around acting all secretive and lying to everybody anymore. I was upset over how the love story played out and the endi ...more

Firstly I need to get out there how amazing this book truly was. I loved the atmosphere and the growing relationship between characters. Description: Cassie finally fits into the coven, being seen as one of their own. She begins to realise being apart of the coven isn't all great as it turns out to be. Meanwhile, Faye is in a position to choose which side she is on, this ultimately developing the end results on whether the coven will be able to survive against the evil befalling in New Salem. I really like the Secret Circle. I read the first book a year or two ago, and had to re-read it recently since the show on The CW has really messed up the actual story in my head. Let me just say, unlike Smith's other series The Vampire Diaries, where the show is way better than the books; I actually prefer the Secret Circle novels to the show.

There is something about the books that I really enjoy but I can't really put my finger on it. I really love stories about witches, the kind that

Everyone I knew was talking about this book series and how great it was, it was all over the internet and there were a lot of positive reviews written about it in the local library so I wondered what the big fuss was and picked them up. And now I am hooked.

Once I started reading the first one I couldn't put that one down and read through the night finishing at 5 am. But it was worth it.So then I couldn't wait to read the second one and picked it up as soon as I can.

I have to say that L.J Smith

This one includes part 2 of the second book and the third book in what was originally a trilogy before the publisher took the series away from L.J. Smith and is now written by a group of ghost writers.

Anyway, there is a power struggle in the Circle between Cassie, Faye, and Diana. The latter two are polar opposites, while Cassie is supposed to represent a balance.

Diana is such a goody-goody while Faye is a complete badass that she even gives up her boyfriend of 3+ years, Adam, to Cassie without

Continuing the story that started with The Initiation and part 1 of the The Captive, Cassie Blake becomes firmly entrenched in the coven. She has friends at last; she's a part of the group, yet, lies, deceptions, and jealousy may rip the group apart as evil invades New Salem. Will the group survive? Will the group manage to come together to fight an old enemy?

Part paranormal, part romance, this YA novel deals with the cliff-hanger from the first and resolves it satisfactorily.

This series has been alright. Interesting enough to keep me reading, but it has annoying bits enough to not make me fangirl or anything. Cassie is continually doubting herself instead of accepting her really irks me that she has such potential but is always a weak character.

I loved this book a lot. The writing is not the best but who am I to talk.
I love that everything ended up the way I wanted. cassie grows so much from the moment she arrives in new Salem to the end of the book. Every character grows so much, even Faye ends up being a nice girl.
Cassie and Adam is my life tbh there's so many thinks about this two that makes me love them. I really love Nick too but Nick is not Adam let's be honest. I am the kind of person that really likes a the assholes but in th
So recently I've been at a loss for reading. Call it a reading slump if you like, although I'm sure just those two words make you inwardly cringe. I was looking through my books, trying to find something to read that could manage to capture my attention for once and my eyes stumbled across The Secret Circle. As most of you know, when I read the first book (The Captive and The Power: Part I) I actually hated it.

That opinion, like many of mine, was mostly biased. In 2012 I adored the TV show desp

This one took me a lot longer to read than expected. Almost a week, which frustrated me seeing as I let my team down for my team challenge. I hope not to need to do that again.
To be honest, the main character, Cassie, just really annoys me. She just whines allll the tiiiiime and says 'oh no, can't do that or it'll really hurt this person, so I just won't', and then she goes and contradicts herself by saying 'oh I can't keep it from her, I need to tell her', and then she doesn't! The Captive Part II:
In this story Cassie Blake is still a captive of Faye because she's being blackmailed. The coven is trying to control or get rid of the evil, dark power of the crystal black skull created by an original witch in 1696. They decide on Halloween to go to the school dance and leave early then go to the empty, burnt down lot on their street, Crowhaven, and call the dead. They did that but it wasn't successful. Ironically enough the witches were born days apart from each other in N

Adam and Cassie have sworn not to love each other for the sake of their beloved leader Diana. But Faye has caught them in their one embrace. Now she uses it to blackmail Cassie, forcing Cassie to lie to Diana and to dig up the strange crystal skull that gives them all such dangerous visions. Meanwhile, students are being murdered, and the witches are under suspicion. And Faye wants from Cassie the ultimate betrayal: her vote for Faye as coven leader.

To those who read my review of “The Secret Circle: The Initiation & Captive Part 1” I take it back – Cassie is a Very Special Snowflake. I guess L.J. Smith lulled me into a false sense of security in the first novel but cannily took her time with the big reveal. However, because the author doesn’t immediately set out either in the first novel, or in this book to show that Cassie is superior to any of the other Circle members [recall that she alone had no knowledge of her heritage so I would ...more

When the first book left me wanting more I was glad to see that this one was as fastpassed and interesting. The story is beautiful and with a lot of action. I would like a little bit more witch fights, calling on the elements and stuff, a little bit more active magic and not so much of herbs and crystals. The ending was good but not so much fulfilling, it didn't left me wanting more or being extremely full, it just left me...
A good read for anyone, and I can't wait for the tv series this fall!

L. J. Smith published the second book of the series, The Secret Circle (The Captive Part II and The Power), in 1992. This popular book is for readers searching for romance, horror, and fiction all rolled up in one. Cassie Blake, the main character, who also happens to be a witch, realizes the deaths occurring in her hometown are linked to the evil, dark crystal skull that was created by an original witch in 1696. The coven of witches are trying to get rid of this, because every time they use it, ...more

The Captive Part II continuation...

At least in the second part of the book, Cassie finally grew some balls and stood up to Faye. Albeit a little too late (Faye was already cove leader by then), but still. Diana didn't deserve the betrayal she got, but she's just so naive and trusting that our characters just couldn't resist fooling her, maybe. And Cassie should've known better. So now the spirit of Black John is released, and Cassie's grandmother died. How are they possibly gonna stop a dark ene

Sadece en sondaki olay *no spoilers ;)* biraz nasıl desem... Garip g ...more

The story really picks up in the Captive Pt. 2 and The Power. While I was annoyed with how mousy Cassie was in the last two books, it was really nice to see her grow and become more confident in these ones. Still, the cheesyness of Diana’s character and blandness of Adam’s annoys me to no end. I seriously wanted Cassie to end up with Nick because he had more depth to him. And then the ending made me cringe. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a happy ending, but if the character does get a happy ending, ...more

The second part of the Secret Circle trilogy resume from where we stopped in the other book, the Captive. Now I still do not undersatnd why Harper Teen decided to slae the Captive with both The Initation and The Power that beyound me.

Anywho, the story takes us back when the Circle is dealing both with The dark energy that was released from the skull still looming and killing people and with Cassie still under Faye's felons grapped on her little finger all thanks to her hell-kittnes who spied on

I wasn't feeling this book. Nothing really happened in either of them. After finishing The Captive Part II I was hoping The Power would offer some action, a plot, something..

But again I was disappointed. The only thing that happened in these books was Cassie fighting temptation to be with Adam. I am all for a love story, but I didn't even feel this was one.

The characters were completely unbelievable. They were able to do absolutely anything they wanted to, whenever they wanted to. Not
