The Title of the book is Give me Half by Stuart Murphy. published in 2003. I got to meet stuart murphy last spring at the NCTM conference in Washington D.C. He is a great children's author in that most of the books he writes, they deal with math.

This book, along with the rest in the series, are excellent tools to introduce and/or reinforce math skills in younger children. My kids love this series!
