I found this enjoyable to read--hence the 4 stars. But I had two serious problems with the book. The first is the frequent and confusing shifts in time (back and forth and back, etc.). The second, and perhaps related (I'll get there) was the long passages of dialogue and shorter omniscient narrator sections for which Slovin provides no explanation. Did she make them up? Is she basing them on someone's first-hand memories? My fear is that both problems may come from a desire to be novelistic that ...more
