Just ok. The story was way too convoluted - the author spent 25 pages at the end of the book having one of the characters tell the story of the murder victim's life, which she came to confess to him months prior. It was an awkward and boring way to reveal the woman's history and the reason for her murder. I do give the book extra points for the title and the use of Bruce Springsteen's lyrics in his song "The Price You Pay". What would otherwise be an interesting plot premise is marred by the awkward use of a literary device to tell the story. Several times, the story shifts point of view from the person telling what happened into a replay of a conversation. This can be a useful device, but the authors do not make the transitions well. That kind of a flaw detracts from my reading experience of what would otherwise be a pretty good crime novel.
