I'm just going to label this as "read" and "never finished reading it, oh well", and keep it on my kitchen table to pick up over the breakfast cereal if I need something to read that's a step up from Costco coupons.
I bought it (on a gift card!) because I really like Ken Akamatsu's "Love Hina", and although the drawings are done by someone else here, well, they are cute! I figured, author I like, cute drawings, win-win!

Mehh, this was painful to read 90% of the time. There's A LOT of dumb aspects to it, like; cute aliens, whatthehell!?! But what I really didn't get was the audience there were aiming for. I mean there's like 2 pages of some Ken Akamatsu nudity and the whole rest of the book about little grade schoolers fighting 'cute aliens' all the time. Mehhhh, -___- i dunno it was just sooo bad. I mean it would make a really good Youth book; with all that y'kno 'cuteness'. But on the back it's rated '16+'. Th...more
I decided to read this after I found out it was by Akamatsu, Ken.
I thought it was an OK book. There were some points though, in which I hated it. It started it get a little better as it got closer to the end of the book.
I will not be reading the next one, for I don't wanna spend my money on something that I am not to interested in.

this was great book to read
Cute aliens are stealing Japan's national treasures. The population would revolt if they saw real weapons used against such kawaii opponents, so the defense of the nation is entrusted to three eight-year-old girls who must work together despite the interservice rivalry ingrained in their grandfathers.
I like Ken Akamatsu's other work, but this fails to interest me. I guess it really isn't the same without cheesecake.

I've been reading this off and on for months now.
This uber-cutesy story was much easier to take in anime format. In manga, I lose interest quickly.

Ken Akamatsu (赤松 健, Akamatsu Ken, July 5, 1968 -) is a Japanese mangaka from Tokyo.
In his teenage years, Akamatsu failed the entrance exam to Tokyo University, and applied for Film Study instead (it is speculated that this is where he got the idea for Love Hina).
