I'm enjoying my alphabetical tour of the US, and "meeting" a lot of new-to-me authors. The project should take me well into next year at least, since I just finished the Idaho book, Ridley Pearson's KILLER WEEKEND.
This excellent thriller, set in the Sun Valley-Ketchum-Hailey area, has some plot and structural elements in common with THE DAY OF THE JACKAL, but it is in no way derivative. A good author can make a fine new book out of an old plot, and that's what Pearson has done her...more

Unsure…
Not quite sure how to play this one. I really enjoy Pearson’s Boldt series, but this one… not that great, I hate to admit.
I felt disconnected while reading this; like reading it because it’s there but the author fails to suck you into the story. Strange, but true. I found the characters were the same as everything else I’ve read - nothing to draw them apart, make them special. You get a glimpse of Walt’s past and understand why he and his father are always tense around...more

Walt Fleming is the county sheriff when Liz Shaler returns to Sun Valley to announce her candidacy for president at a world famous communications conference. But someone else has other plans for Liz Shaler. The "someone else" has hired a hit man to take her out of the running as soon as she puts herself in it. Walt has to scurry to save her since the hired security and the Secret Service think Walt's instincts on the matter are unfounded and over protective - they also don't want to be...more

Ridley P has done it again, given us a story that is sort of based on the big weekend gatherings such as the one put on in Sun Valley by financier Herb Allen...and the one in the story is in Sun Valley, put together by a financier, etc. (How do you pronounce roman a clef, anyhow?)
A quick read, lots of dialogue and white space on the pages...and I read it lying around the pool in Merlin, OR, where it was 80 degrees and the air was clear and the sun was shining, and I was so happy - so...more

recommends it for:
any murder mystery fan
My first book from this author and "Killer Weekend" is fast paced from the first couple of chapters till the very end. The characters have depth and the story kept my interest as the pages flew by.
The book is endorsed by a couple of mystery writers, namely James Patterson and Lee Child, and I noticed the pace and feel of the story is very much like Patterson's works; short chapters and a captivating storyline.
Give this one a try, you might enjoy it.

If you like James Patterson, I think you will like this political thriller by Ridley Pearson.
The book centers around a sheriff named Walt Fleming and his attempt to keep a presidential nominee safe while there are threats out on her life.
The book gives in-depth character sketches of all of the main characters and develops the plot very well.
I was not thrilled with the ending, but I would like to read some more of Pearson's books.

Walt Fleming saved Liz Shaler and now it looks like he will have to do it again. This book is set in Sun Valley Idaho, so that part is fun. Liz Shaler is going to announce her candidacy for President and she has lots of people looking out for her well being. But not all are trying to save her. In her midst is a killer who does not want to see Liz be successful in her campaignn.
It's a good mystery and it reads quickly.

Great fast paced fiction novel. A really well thought out cat and mouse type of hunter versus the hunted type of experience that will leave you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I also enjoyed it because there were times where the author drew you in and you thought you had certain things figured out only to have plot twists screw up your theories. Again, a fun and fast paced, action packed read.

When Killer Weekend first started, I wasn't sure I was going to like it. It had a little too much going on. It seemed like there were too many story lines going on and I didn't think I was going to be able to keep track of them. After it got going though, it all fell in to place and was a really good book. I look forward to seeing what else Ridley Pearson has out.

If you are from the Wood River Valley, this book is a must. Fun reading and the comparisons to the actual residents of Sun Valley are very believable. A quick read for a weekend.
Even if one hasn't lived in the Sun Valley area of Idaho, Pearce really brings it alive with detail and description.

Kirkwood resident Ridley Pearson has put together a nice little thriller that kept me turning the pages with a plot of an assassination attempt of a political candidate. Some of the characters cluttered it up a bit, but I like the main characters and the Sun Valley, Idaho, setting was not typical.

Yeh....it is a fast read, murder mystery...and I love it...and I like Ridley Pearson for this type of book. Story is based in Sun Valley, Idaho and surrounding area. I like to read stories that are based in places I am familiar with. Fun to read.

I liked it. Liked the writing style, well paced.. there were some spots where I was a bit confused by the story but that could've been because I was trying to finish it but was distracted by children.
I look forward to reading the next one. :)

I usually really enjoy his books, but this was just fluff. Little character development, a dead dog and cat (it's a personal thing, and I know Circle of Life and all, but it just bothered me, okay) and just generally not as engaging as I had hoped for.

What a great book! Especially fun for those of us who lived in or around the Sun Valley area. Chock full of local references, people, places. Made me quite homesick, I must admit :) The hubby loved this one too! Consider us Pearson fans!

I did stay to the end of this but mainly because I couldn't believe it was as boring and knew it would get better. It didn't. The plot is too silly to even capsulate. I'm only adding the book here so I'll be sure and not pick it up again.

Pure escapism and not as well done as others by him. This was a quick read -- vice presidential contender (female, of course) is being hunted. THe method planned for her assination, at least, was original.

By the co-author of Peter and the Starcatchers, it has a Michael Connelly/Tom Clancy Feel to it. A quick read, not bad, I wouldn’t mind if he made it into a series. A bit of language to watch out for.

I really enjoyed this book after 50-100 pages. It took a while to get used to who all the characters were. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Quick, easy read. Your typical mystery/suspense with a few unexpected twists and turns. Ok, but not necessarily a "must read."
