This is a book that everyone should read... Seriously! It is about what happens when we take Offense and how Satan will use that against us in our own lives. It sounds intense but if you want some relief in your life and growth, this is a MUST READ! It's teaching me sooooo much and praise God for that!
Offense leads to sin, which leads to separation from God and others. We are so easily offended, but this book opened my eyes to the ways in which to overcome offense.
For me personally, this book held a great message. I read it in a group and also passed the book on to some friends, and I noticed that some people took issue with how he worded things, but for me the message that he had really spoke through whatever odd trappings might have surrounded it. At the heart of this book is a Biblical message which every Christian should hear and take to heart: we don't have the right to hold bitterness in our hearts, no matter how legitimately we've been wronged.
Very good exploration of the dangers of carrying around offenses that cause divisions and dissentions among Christian brothers and sisters, and the church. Book carries a slight charismatic bent, but I feel like the author is spot on with how to deal with hurt and forgiveness. Worth a place on your Christian reading shelf, no matter which "bend" of Christianity you are. Very helpful when you find yourself deeply wounded or offended by another person.
Must read book!! Very easy to read... 30 day study guide in the back of the book to help you take it step by step, to dig in deeper and understand more on a personal level. This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. One of satan's greatest joys is when people become "offended" it happens all the time that it always seemed normal to me. But now I know how serious it is and how to deal with it. AWESOME book!

This book taught me the value of someones word. And that not to take their word for face value all the time..
Offense is a snare that, many times, leads to bitterness, even hatred. It taught me to look at myself and how I speak to others, what words that I choose, and to choose them carefully.. Think before reacating to anothers words..
It showed me, that I had unforgivness and offense, BOTH directly and indirectly related to me... Also, never to leave or end relationships on the basis...more

Sort of an interesting day. I also finished Stephen King's book and then read this one...totally different. But this was pretty powerful. Very down to earth recounting of a lot of Biblical incidents and then related to the concept of taking offense, not offending, forgiving. I took notes. That's how good this book was!
great book. If you are having problems with people in your church. If you are hurt from a believer like you. If you can't deal with the ones who hurt you. If you are STUMBLED... How to deal with your broken heart, how to forgive, to stay away from stumbling others. To act like what Jesus Christ did. Do not hesitate to tell the truth if the Holy Spirit tells you to do so even if it is stumbling, but never stumble the others for the sake of your personal interest. The importance of the act of forg...more
This a good book to help you recognize satan's attempts to bring division among people. It is easy reading. It gives you practical steps to apply.
I went through this book with a group from church. It was helpful to hear the other stories. I also benefited by discussions the questions generated.

|I learned soooooo much from this book. This was so good. talks about how we can beocome offended and how it affects everything. Someone may not have even meant to offend you but you see everything through offended glasses. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever been hurt in church.
I have to say that this book honestly changes lives. It really brought to light some issues that I had with unforgiveness and bitterness, that I didn't even realize I had, simply because I had always chosen not to address them. This is a book that will rock your world, I promise.

Oh my! I had never heard of John Bevere before but now can't wait to check out his other books. ...The Trap of Offense has been the biggest stumbling block in my life and it never crossed my mind. I am so thankful that God continues to show us how we can be better.
This book helped explain many principles from the Scriptures that I was blind to, and definitely not applying prior to rededicating my life to Christ back on March 1st of 2010. The most important idea being that we can be walking in offense and unforgiveness and not even realize it. We can become like a poisonous spring of water which we keep drinking and not even realize it is killing us. I thank the Lord and John Bevere for helping with taking a few more steps hopefully in the right direction....more
Read this book several years ago and glad I bought it when facing "offense" in the church and learned what I needed to do as a believer of Jesus Christ. So far, one of my favorite books by this author and marked this book all up!
Excellent book. While John Bevere's other book Enemy Access Denied really teaches on obedience - - this one focuses on forgiveness. Something everyone can do more of!!!
This was a revealing book about one of our greatest stumbling points - being offended and not forgiving those who do so. Mr. Bevere takes us on an emotional examination of our concience and attitude. The workbook section is priceless.

It teaches you that offenses is the bait of satan. I recognized offense when it came and was able to make a decision by the power of the Holy Spirit. Will you take the offense, the bait of satan or will you release it and walk in forgiveness? The choice is yours!
I learned about offense and how to handle offense when it comes. I went through a process of coming face to face with my unforgiveness, resentment, retaliation, anger, hatred, violence, murder, down to the root of Bitterness! I was...more

A great book that helps you realize how good Satan really works at bringing us farther away from God. It deals with our thoughts and how to change and overcome them.
A must read. Teaches about offense but deeper than that. That we are servants to the Lord and should not become offended. Lots of scripture to study!
This book is must read, especially for believers!!! It shows how satan uses offenses to detroy the churches and people in them. Great read!!!
This was a terrific book. It gives much insight on the sin of offense and the gift of forgiveness. My life is blessed for reading this.
I recommend this book for all Christians. The spirit of offense starts a downward spiral in us of unforgiveness. We must forgive others.
Every person in the world should read this book and apply it. Now that you've seen this recommendation, read it or I'll be offended. haha
a bit of a tough read..more in the sense of connecting with the author, not necessary in the subject matter.
Answers about why we feel so beat up, and how the enemy's use of a spirit of offense helps us stay there.

Really opened my eyes to places in Christianity I was reluctant to look. Thanks John Bevere!
It talks about how people in the church can be easily offended...and how to deal with it!
This book was so enlightening, revealing, empowering. It talks about the topic of offense and how to get rid of offenses in one's life to be unoffendable. I didn't realize how many things and people offended me.
God really spoke to me very loudly as I read this book, which took 2 weeks as I allowed God to let the words sink in and as I took action. It was very freeing for me to recognize how I was offended, to seek forgiveness and to extend it.

The chapter about forgiveness changed the way I think about people and life. Fantastic!
solid examination of the contagious nature of bitterness within and without.
