I liked this book about 40/60 - the least of all the McKettrick books I've read/listened to. The last book I listened to was McKettrick's Luck, with Jesse & Cheyenne. My complaint about that book was that their falling in love was too abrupt; there was no development of any sort of commonality or friendship, leading to no basis for a love relationship (imo). This book, the third in the series about the contemporary McKettrick cousins, was even more abrupt. Keegan and Molly argued constantly,...more

I really loved this one. Linda Lael Miller writes wonderful stories about Cowboys, both historical and Western. I got this book because I kept thinking I had missed out on it when it first came out back in 07. It's not listed anywhere in my Monthly Reads Journal or in any of the bins of previously read books I have. Anyway, I get into it and there are some parts that seem familiar but I'm just not sure because there were also other parts that I didn't recognize from any of the other McKettrick b...more

I love the way LLM writes. She is a writer for our time as well as the past. This book is one that was heart wrenching and heart warming as well. Keegan is a strong man that is trying to be part of his daughters life after a divorce that has left him skeptical of life and what it has to offer. When an old flame comes back to town to die from cancer Keegan is thrown for a loop when he meets Molly. Molly having had an affair with a married man and gave up the baby from that relationship, has been...more

Keegan McKettrick is a grumpy millionaire. His exwife sees him as a bank for life and is threatening to take his daughter to Paris, His family wants to sell his company, and his best friend and teenage squeeze is dying of Cancer. Molly is a literary agent who gave up her child for adoption--the adoptive mother has asked her to visit Indian Rock Arizona. Turns out Keegans friend and the adoptive mom are one in the same. Sykee will let Molly adopt Lucas if she marries Keegan McKettick. Makes for a...more

This is a modern-romantic-western.

The entire series is:

9. The McKettrick Way 2007
8. McKettrick's Heart 2007
7. McKettrick's Pride 2007
6. McKettrick's Luck 2007
5. Sierra's Homecoming 2006
4. McKettrick's Choice 2006
3. Secondhand Bride 2004
2. Shotgun Bride 2003
1. High Country Bride 2002

But, Books 6, 7 and 8 (maybe 9, but I have not read it) can be read as a "trilogy/set" all to themselves. I read Luck, Pride, and Heart, then went back to read the earlier books, that involved the relatives in 1800's...more

Really 4.5 stars, but I won't nit-pick too much. All three of these books were winners. I think I inhaled them rather than read them. I felt for Molly. I can't imagine the pain she must have felt in giving up her son to his father's wife. I can, however, imagine her joy and her willingness to do anything once given the opportunity to get him back.
Keegan's ex-wife should be strung up by her toes and never allowed near another child. Just saying.

It doesn't seem to matter that this installment in the McKettrick Men uses an abundance of an oft used plot devices to move this story forward, I still loved this story! Almost every possible, slightly plausible plot element is in here (divorce, custody battles, cancer, mistresses, death bed decrees, blackmail...the list goes on!)and somehow Linda Lael Miller not only kept them tied together but did it all in a way that I never rolled my eyes once.

Keegan McKettrick lost his parents as a teen and shared time with his cousins as he grew up until he was done with college. He was very lonely after losing his parents, and it affected him and the way he deals with everyday life.
His marriage didn't work out and now he has to share custody with an ex-wife who doesn't play fair. She just seems to want to make his life a living hell. And she doesn't seem to have their daughters best interest in mind.
Then he meets Molly and he doesn't want to like...more

I read this book because I kind of enjoyed the Christmas book I found at the library. I seem to always like stories of big, boisterous, close-knit families. This book was fine - not great. No more than usually unrealistic, but still... I have got to stop my junk reading kick and find more great books - like The Help.

This was the 3 book in the McKettrick's men series. I so enjoy reading Miller. Her books make me laugh and cry. Sometimes at the same time. I enjoyed the family interaction within this book. When I read her books I always feel better. Both Molly and Keegan needed a happy ending and I'm glad they got one.

the only thing I was disapointed with in this book was that I read it way to fast, and that it's book #3,now I want to run out to get books 1 and 2.I had a hard time putting this one down.Such a interesting story line, this is a plot u don't hear about everyday.enjoyed this book so much!!

A heart-warming story, though be warned, a bit of a tear-jerker. I did feel the climax was a bit of letdown after all the build-up, but a satisfying read overall. The relationship between Keegan and his cousins was hilarious, and I'll be picking up their books.

When I first started this book I wasnt sure if I would like it as well as the others to this series. Well I do. It has been emotional but it is good. I finished the book 10/6. I love the way the author captures these guys hearts. I can't wait to find the fourth one.

Realize now that I should have started this series with book 1. The story itself is complete and is okay as stand alone reading. This tale is softly sad, strangely intriguing, and the romance has to grow on you. The ending is thoroughly satisfying.

Another in the modern McKettrick dynasty series. This is the story of Keegan McKettrick and Molly Shields and their ready-made family consisting of Molly's son and Keegan's daughter by choice. An unlikely scenario, but still a good, quick read.

I liked this book better the second time through. The story about. Keagan is very realistic. The story of the family in tbis book is modern day. Not wanting to ruin the book for you I will just say rwad it and you won't be disappointed. _

I really liek this series, it's addictive! Of the "men" series this is probably my favorite. Keegan & Molly were a good couple, and the problems they were facing were well written.

This book is a really good read So far. If your into cowboys/western romance, then these books are for you! I love all of Linda lael Miller's books. The McKettrick men series is my favorite so far.

I picked this book up at the thrift store, a friend of mine has all the books from this author and told me I should read them... I couldn't put it down.. made me laugh, angry and cry!!

A kind of heart-wrenching and depressing story. It was just, 'okay'. Keegan and Molly's love for each other wasn't even believable. It needed an epilogue to tie up some loose ends...

Wow, this book took off with a bang! I loved the chemistry between our cowboy hero and the heroine. A fantastic plot, and a new direction for Ms. Miller. Really fine writing!

Although normally I enjoy contemporary fiction, when it comes to Linda Lael Miller-- I like her historical stories much better. Mc Kettrick's Heart is contemporary and it wasn't my favorite.
Alisa
I love these. Some are cheesy but most are pretty darn good. Just enough conflict to keep the story going and when everyone kisses and makes up you get all gooey and happy inside. :)

This is an author that I have read a lot of and have added her books to my 'keeper' book shelf. Most I have read at least twice and some even more than that.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, although it took me a month of Sundays to read, due to trying to revise one of my own manuscripts. Miller is one of my most favorite Western writers, and I always fall in love with her characters. If I have any complaints regarding this book, it is the supper fast way Keegan McKettrick and Molly fell in love, particurally when the two of them could barely stand to be in the same room with each other without spewing venom (which wasn't always nice on Keegan's part)....more

I loved this book, I learned alot about love loss and family and the bonds of growing up on family traditions and hertitage.

Read this long ago, but remember it fondly. Miller's McKettrick stories, long ago and modern day, are very entertaining.

Romantic books usually don't appeal to me, but somehow I got interested in this Authors McKettricks. Good read.
