[close] As the end of her senior year approaches, Candace struggles with big questions about her future and where she’s going to attend college in the fall.

Her boyfriend Kurt and best friend Tamara pressure her to make the safe decision to live at home and go to school locally.

On the other hand she has been accepted to a college in Florida, which is close to The Zone’s other major theme park, and has been named a finalist for a scholarship there. Complicating her life even more is her busy job at The Zone theme park, where she is a part-time employee working at The Candy Counter.

She spends several evenings a week up to her elbows in candy apples, and she’s also practicing with her team for the annual Zone Talent Show. Things with Kurt are even more complicated.

The more she dreams about the future she wants, the less she sees Kurt playing a part in it.

To make matters worse he goes home for Easter to attend his sister’s wedding and doesn’t invite her even though he knows that her parents are also going to be out of town and she’ll be alone for Easter. Fortunately, Josh invites her to spend the day with his family, attending church and celebrating the holiday. The event turns out to be eye-opening for Candace, and she realizes that what she wants is to follow her dreams even if they take her all the way to Florida.
