Captain Homer Clay, head of the Humber Falls homicide squad (two men) is considered eccentric. Why would a member of one of the town's leading families waste his time like that? But when an upper-class murder takes place, Homer is the one to look into the family and business life of the late Clyde Bumpus. Not that his assistant Ernest Manion doesn't do some good work, too.
