Title: The Girlfriend
Series: Point Horror #19
Author: RL Stine
Overall Rating: 3 stars

The Girlfriend is one of the more classic Point Horror books, and it's understandable, it's got drama and suspense and the story line is very Fatal Attraction-esque. I think this one was okay, it didn't scare me as much as the other ones have and it was almost predictable.

Scotty was a bit of a sleeze for going on a date with another girl while

The Girlfriend is about a girl named Shannon who convinces a boy named Scotty, that she just meets, to be unfaithful to his girlfriend of many years while she is on a trip. After Scotty's girlfriend Lora returns from her trip he begins to ignore Shannon to keep Lora from finding out about the things that happened with Shannon. Shannon continues to stalk Scotty and starts hurting the things most important to him until he gives in to her. The theme i noticed in the story was betrayal, Scotty wasn' ...more

Excellent entry into the series that tells the story of a crazed girl stalking a young man called Scotty. Scotty is one of the towns supposed perfect couple but when his girlfriend goes travelling for a week Scotty decides to play the field. He picks the wrong girl because after he feels guilty and breaks it off she refuses to leave him alone and begins stalk and threaten violence against him. It excellently written and is quite gritty and realistic. Perhaps the ending is a little out there but ...more

The Story is based on a boy in high school named Scotty who has a rich girlfriend named Lora. They have been a couple since when they were in sixth grade. While his girlfriend went for a trip for a whole week, he cheats on his girlfriend. Now, there is a new girl named Shannon in his life who loves him, but is not willing to go away. Shannon loves Scotty to death, she would destroy his life if he doesn't break up with Lora. The story is telling is you play, you will need to pay with your life.

The Girlfriend was a kind of a weird story. The book is about a guy who cheats on his girlfriend with a girl named Shannon while she is in Paris, France. Shannon then does whatever she can to get him back even if that means murdering somebody. I may recommend this book to anybody who likes psychopaths. The girl kills the guy’s pet snake and his new girlfriend’s cat. In my opinion, I would never want a girlfriend like that. This books greatest strength is its ability to capture the reader with it ...more

Not much to say about this. I seem to remember it as being quite good, yet this time I found it barely readable. There were things that I liked about the book - I liked Scotty and Lora's relationship, and the way they were different from your average teens, and I like the premise of the novel - but it was let down by Scotty being such a...well, I was going to use an alternative word for "cat" but I'll stick with "wimp".

This book was so mysterious, it caught my attention at the very first instant. From the "Flat tire?" Scotty asked. "Yeah." She made a face. to the whole " I didn't kill Shannon, he thought." to the very very end. Those were the moments that made you think about all the books you've read paranormal,YA fiction and all of those, WHAT THE HELL IS SHANNON?!. Well, let me tell you shes a little cuckoo. Lora, I think is a selfish kinda of character, well because, she thinks that Scotty is her possessi ...more

I've read this book a while back, and it's definitely a favorite of mine. So, it's about this guy named Scotty, who has it going pretty good for him; he's the quarterback of the football team, has a rich girlfriend who is a cheerleader, he's going to a good college, and seemingly has the perfect life. However, all goes downhill when his girlfriend Lora goes away on a trip for a week and he meets this new girl named Shannon. He ends up having a one-night stand with her, but he doesn't tell Lora a ...more

Like a previous commenter said, I've read this for the nostalgia factor. I like to think that these stories are metaphors for common fears that lives within adolescent's minds. When you read a Point Horror book as an adult, it all seems so banal and funny and you don't actually believe that anything that is happening is paranormal or strange. Just kids being confused and going through puberty. "The Girlfriend" is bad in many ways. The stereotypical storyline of the quaterback dating the cheerlea ...more

This book is a crazy love story between Scotty, Shannon, and Lora. Scotty is an unfaithful person as his original girlfriend leaves to go on a trip with Shannon. As Scotty's girlfriend gets back it is confusing for him and decides to cut off Shannon, but it just messes up everything and it ends up ruining Shannon's life. I would recommend this to anybody who loves tragedy love stories

Synopsis: Scotty Singleton finds his hands full fending off a psycho girl who won't take no for an answer.

What I liked: The 'cozy memory' feeling this book gave me. I read this when I was a teenager. I loved RL Stine's books and read them constantly. Things have changed a lot since then but I still got a chill at certain points in this story.

What I didn't like: Honestly, I found the characters to be a little flat, even Scotty. It wasn't so bad that I was bored or even disinterested. It was jus

I really wish this hadn't ended in such an anticlimactic way, because I would have rated it five stars. I really enjoyed revisiting this book for the first time since middle school, but I had forgotten how much of a non-ending it had. It's always fun to go back to an old R.L. Stine book, though, and it's still a fun read.

Who doesn't like a book about a boy cheating on his girlfriend and then being turtured by a girl. R.L Stine's fear street books are classics that anyone would love becasue his ending are never "and they lived happily ever after!" Ha!

Enjoyable R.L. Stine as usual. I liked this one because I could relate to it, I've had my fair share of crazy ex girlfriends in the past and it is not fun. Although this one had me asking too any "Why doesn't he just do ... ?" questions. Still overall it was a page turner.

I'd say that this book is interesting because it talks about a boy that has perfect life and everything but while his girlfriend was out of town with her parent he went to ball and got a new girlfriend but his new girlfriend doesn't want to go away that she took it far...

I read this book because I loved reading R. L. Stine as a kid, but this book was relatively disappointing. I was frustrated with Scotty's stubbornness in refusing to go to the police and a lack of development and relationship with other characters. This book seemed old, as well. It was also darker than I expected for a children's novel.

I thought this book was absolutely fantastic, It was so interesting and easy to get in to. To start with the writer made her sound really nice, the perfect girlfriend! Maybe to perfect? She started to get nasty and a little freaky! My friend told me about this book she said it would be a good one to read... She was right.

I would recommend it to anyone that likes horror cause it swaps the plot around a lot and it makes you go woah! at the end not giving to much away though!

I really enjoyed this book a lot. In the beginning it was a little boring but as you kept going it kept getting more and more intense. I didn't want to put it down. The ending of the book was nothing like I expected it to be.. so it really shocked me. I really like reading the, R.L. Stine's books. This was the second one I finished and now I will be starting "The Snowman," another one of his.
