In the last few weeks, I've been traveling quite a lot—Brazil, Macedonia, Serbia, and throughout the U.S. Since I have a ritual that involves reading on planes, I've been able to get through a few books I've been hearing quite a bit about. The three I want to tell you about here, are all amazing. If you saw my copies, you'd see dog-eared pages, underlining, exclamation points and question marks in the margins. I really had no idea how much I'd be affected by each one, and completely surprised ...more

Stephen M.R. Covey, the son, was head of training for his father's company.

The book is needlessly long and I didn't need to be sold on the value of trust (which is why the book is so long), hence, why the 3 star rating. Long sections of the book are very general and boring and I kept thinking how the book could have been netted down. I recommend the book, recommend skimming the boring examples and felt that along with the Economics of Trust, all that a reader needs on the important subject ...more

The message this book brings is outstanding! Covey identifies and discusses four core elements of trust -- integrity, intent, capabilities, and results. In some sense, he has simply redefined trust from what others have said about it. While I don't necessarily disagree, it is to some extent a matter of semantics. From that discussion of the core of trust, though, he moves into a very useful and relevant discussion and justification of 13 behaviors that create or sustain trust. Moving on, Covey t...more

I felt immediately at home with reading this book. It touched something deeper within me, reaching down from the intellectual part of my brain to the spiritual side. It allows you to realise that everything we do, every interaction we embark on is base on two principles trust or mistrust. There is a great importance for us to place on trust and this book helped me to identify that no matter the relationship I am creating or building, my trust account must not be in overdraft.

It was a book that can be used in personal and professional lives. He has done just as good as his dad did in motivational authoring. The book suggests looking at trust as a factor in all relationships as the foundation to build upon for all areas in a business or family to succeed. We all think we all know this, until you take his evaluation challenge and realize that we all could use a step back approach to issuing more trust.

I had read a couple of Stephen Covey's other books and noticed that this one just came out. It's interesting, but the ideas aren't terribly new. The main theme is that in the workplace (and in life), a lack of trust makes a project take longer and cost a lot more. I believe that the author is actually the son of the original Stephen Covey.

recommends it for: leaders
Great practical book to learn how to keep and earn trust by your behaviors. I particularly like Covey's use of personal from companies he has worked with and his own family to help you understand his concepts. Easy to read and highly useful to anyone in leadership (or interested in trust for any relationship!).

I not only learned a great deal reading this book, some of my previous thoughts were reaffirmed. I think anyone who wants to be a successful manager -- or a successful employee -- should pick this one up. Not only is it informative, but the anecdotes are entertaining!

This is the absolute coolest book! It is about the essential need for people and organizations to have trust in their relationships. What happens when there isn't trust in the organization? Read this book; the results of low trust in organizations will blow you away.

This phenomenal book has been out less than a year but I thought it just as good if not a better read than 7 Habits written by his father. This book so perfectly describes trust, breaks it down and shows how relevant it is in business, home, and all other arenas of life.

I found the book to be quite long and it overused examples and quotes however there were some very insightful suggestions and definitions that if practiced would definitely enhance a relationnship. A must read for those experiencing trust issues.

I am a sucker for non-fiction & have been a Covey fan since I was a teen. This book is an Xtra bonus as the writer is Covey Jr., son of the famous Stephen Covey.

Great insights in how we relate to people and how TRUST affects our daily lives.

Jolene suggested this book to me. It took me a while to get around to reading it, but then I discovered it is really relevant to everyone's lives--including mine. It also helped me consider the "blind spots" I have in trusting and being trustworthy.

In my company, this is THE hot topic of the moment and something that I have been heavily involved in developing. I am interested to read the book, after perusing the website, and see what 300 pages has to say about the Speed of Trust.

As always Stephen Covey give his audience information for contemplation. I took many helpful hints from this book. As well it helped validate many of my own thoughts and feelings. Good for anyone who is into growing themselves!

This book is compelling to me because it quantifies and validates the genuine business value of trust -- which in my experience is generally considered a 'nice to have" in the business world, but not necessarily critical.

Trust matters! If there is trust, business moves quicker, smoother, more painlessly. Covey outlines why trust is important and how to build it.

It's not 7 Habits, but it's still very good.

This is one of my favorite books I've read within the last year. There are many valuable principles it states. None of which I haven't heard before, but I really like the way it teaches them.
