One of the most enjoyable books on music I have been able to read and listen to. Kamien provides readers with solid historical information about the development of the many musical styles that have manifested throughout human history. I gave this book to the music teacher some two years ago. I am very glad to see that he still uses as a key reference point.

In the picture of the orchestra there is a saxopone with "bass clarinet" as its label. On the upside, it includes Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
