Second book in the Sign of Seven trilogy by Nora Roberts. While I still enjoyed this book, I didn't like it as much as the first book. I'd give it a 4, maybe 4.5, stars.
The Hollow continues the tale about six people: Cal, Fox, Gage, Quinn, Layla and Cybil, trying to find a way to beat a centuries old evil that terrorizes the town of Hawkins Hollow for seven days every seven years. The group now knows that this is the time, this is the Seven, that they can beat back the evil....more

On to book two of Sign of the Seven!
I definitely liked this one better than Book 1, for a couple of reasons. One, I liked Fox as a male lead character better than I liked Caleb. He's a more thoughtful character, in more ways than one; there's the obvious thing about his being telepathic, but also, in general, he's more analytical than Caleb and that worked better for me as a character trait. Also, I was quite charmed that he could juggle. And, dude, he plays the guitar. Automat...more

What can I say? I waited at the bookstore today for the clerk to put out this book. Bought the book. Came home, opened the book and didn't stop till I finished. That's right...skipped supper...it was totally worth it. Nora's done it again. I loved the first book, "Blood Brothers" and "The Hollow" kept me riveted. Unfortunately, now I have to wait til December 08 for the final book "The Pagan Stone" to be released. Doubtless I'll be waiting at the bookstore fo...more

I should probably feel bad that I ignored my husband and children for seven straight hours while I read THE HOLLOW, the second book in Nora Roberts' THE SIGN OF SEVEN trilogy.
I don't.
Seriously, once you start in on this story, featuring Fox O'Dell and Layla Darnell, which is even better than the first book, you won't be able to stop reading. Of course, I'll no doubt say that the third book in the series, which doesn't come out until December (the horror!!), is even better than this one, ...more

I didn't love this book, but I don't hate it either. I was dissapointed in it. I was excited for this book to come out. I really enjoyed the first of the trilogy, Blood Brothers, and had high expectations for this one, but it seemed to fall flat. Maybe I was expecting to much, but this installment just didn't excite me. The ending seemed anticlimatic, like something was missing. I hope in the final book, The Pagan Stone, that we see more action. We are given descriptions of all the stuff that ...more

Nora Roberts is Brain Candy. Sometimes she's brain-cotton-candy, sometimes Godiva chocolates.
This one was more like a milkyway bar. The first bite is good--better than you think. And when you're finished you're almost sorry.

THE HOLLOW is the second in The Sign of Seven trilogy, BLOOD BROTHERS being the first. PEGAN STONE, the third, is scheduled to be out in December 2008.
By the second book, the reader pretty much knows what’s going to happen. Surprise isn’t the author’s strong point as her novels, at least not in the ones I’ve read. Her books are character driven. The reader becomes emotionally invested, very much like soap opera fans do. I found myself wanting to talk to my husband about the character...more

Second book in the Sign of Seven Trilogy. This is the horror-ish book about the three boys who released an evil force when they were ten, and have had to deal with an outbreak of evil in their hometown every seven years. Now, things are getting really seriously bad, and these 3 women have shown up, and it's the second couple's story. The hero and heroine have sort-of-matching powers of reading minds. They have "present" powers. (The 1st story's couple could read past events. The 3rd st...more

Three boys who shared their birthday, Caleb, Fox, and Gage, decided to celebrate their tenth birthday at the Pagan Stone, a strange, altar-like stone in the middle of the woods surrounding Hawkins Hollow, the village where the three grew up.

Ah, Nora Roberts. The Queen of Romance (did that used to be Barbara Cartland? So maybe Roberts is the President of Romance? The Prime Minister?) has written, what, 1,000,000 books in almost every possible subgenre of romance (suspense, the not-too-distant future, fantasy, western, historical, contemporary)? In the Sign of 7 trilogy, she tries her hand at horror just to keep things interesting. The results aren't that creepy by horror standards, but pretty darn creepy for most romance readers. In...more

The Hollow is the second book in Roberts Sign of Seven Trilogy. In this story, Cal, Gage, Fox, Cybil, Layla, and Quinn continue their fight against the evil that infects Hawkins Hollow.
Like the first book, Roberts writes another great story that puts good and evil against each other, adding some twists along the way. Where as the first book introduces readers to the Hollow and the 6 individuals who will come together to fight the evil, this story offers more insight into the evil that infect...more

Nora Roberts knows how to write ‘em!!!
An excellent second book in the trilogy! I couldn’t ask for better. We’re taken back to Hawkin’s Hollow and its residents - good and bad. Some you love, some you love to hate.
This book circled mostly around Layla and Fox - their relationship blossoms in this novel, and I loved how they got the feel of each other - thoughts and feelings. Working together, being together… You get more of their backgrounds, what Fox was like as a kid and growi...more

again, nora roberts is never disappointing. her recent book the hollow, second in the sign of seven trilogy was very good. this one seemed to focus more on two of the characters. fox and layla, who do fall for eachother. the hone in their special abilities to help find something very valuable to help them fight the evil. the evil gets stronger the longer he goes without doing anything and when he does strike, he gets them real good that either believe what is happening or they get hurt. ga...more

This book is the second in the sign of seven Trilogy. In the first part of the trilogy, we met the three boys, Fox, Gabe and Cal who inadvertently awoke an ancient evil that terrorises the town once every seven years. In this instalment, we meet Fox and Layla. Fox's fight with the evil that skims the edges of the Hollow is more personal - and heartbreaking as a result. The tension in this book is cranked up a notch, as the stakes being played for are threateningly real. The malevolent forces seem...more

The second book of this new trilogy by Nora Roberts, it followed the vein of her previous books. Oh, wow, a female character opening a store! *gasp, mock astonishment* How used has that plot turn been used in her stories? Several, and I haven't read all of her books. I know some authors tend to have familiar plot lines as time goes on in their career, but after reading the Key trilogy not so long ago, and of course the Dream trilogy, this is starting to get a little old. However, I do hope it's ...more

Well, I think I liked this one better than the first book. I liked Fox and Layla better as the main characters than Cal and Quinn and the story moved quickly enough. It was one of the better "middle-of-the-trilogy" books in Nora's catalog and I'm definitely liking this trilogy better than the pseudo-vampire one. I guess the main problem is that, having read so many of Nora's trilogies, I had this book completely mapped out. I knew how much info we were going to get and how much wou...more

God, I love a Nora Roberts trilogy. While I liked the first book a bit better, I gave this one 5 stars, because I am one step closer to the last book, and that is the one I've been waiting for. And I'll have to keep waiting, because it comes out IN DECEMBER. 6 MONTHS from now. Which is doubly stupid, because the end of the story actually takes place in July. But I have to wait 'till December. How will I bear the suspense? It is worse than waiting for Christmas!

This series is a lot of fun and book two had some genuinely creepy moments. I enjoyed the romance quite a lot, but I really enjoyed the supernatural elements. I thought some of the small moments were even more creepy than the big scenes, but that's okay. I like the small creepies.
