Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is based on a video game of the same name. Most of the time, when I hear about a book based on a video game, I would cringe. Personally, I think that most of the time publishers are out to make an extra buck on a product. This is similar to Disney releasing multiple straight-to-video sequels of all of their popular movies; they don't care about the quality, because kids will beg their parents for it. Similarly, publishers know that hardcore fans of popular game...more

1. Darth Vader's apprentice, Starkiller, travels the galaxy to find the remaining Jedi and kill them as ordered by Darth Vader. He badly injures General Kota, kills Shaak Ti and Kazdan Paratus, and proves himself worthy of helping Darth Vader to take down the Emperor. When he returned to Darth Vader, Starkiller gets stabbed by Darth Vader when the Emperor found out about Darth Vader having an apprentice, but Darth Vader healed Starkiller later on. Darth Vader told him to find allies so they can ...more

From a literature standpoint this book earns no more than a three, but for Star Wars fans it fills a part of the void between episodes III & IV (prequel movies and originals).

I've only read one other Star Wars book and I forget the title and author, it was a mission Anakin and Obi-Wan were on, so I read this one with little background in what else has been written.

The Force Unleashed was set in time very near the original Star Wars movie and tells the story of the origin of the Rebel...more

I thought this book was going to be bad because it was a novelization of a video game, but it evoked a lot of emotions in me.

The hardest part was figuring out when the book occurs. From the clues in the book, I'd say this story occurs between 2 and 4 years before the Battle of Yavin (BBY).

The tale is of Darth Vader's secret apprentice. We aren't told exactly when he acquires the boy or his exact age, but my guess is he was between 3-8 when he was found. I think he was found about 19...more

An absolute <s>great<s>, awesome book and I was stuck to it since the first page. I couldn't put it down until the book was done. Although you may need to look up some Star Wars information in the process to figure out who some people are, it is totally worth the searching. The book talks about the dreaded Darth Vader's apprentice who is only known as Starkiller and his journey find out who he is and learning the cruel reality that he has been living in under his master.

It was interesting. I don't think that this book really lived up to its potential, the story line was a so-so idea but it was great to read someting of the start of the Rebel Alliance. Then again, this book was based off a computer game. Overall I liked where they got the Alliance symbol, that's really all.

After seeing this book as a bestseller for a couple of weeks, I decided to read it. I typically don't read the Star Wars novels, but this was the second I decided to read.

I read Shadows of the Empire and came away with the taste that it was a great story written very badly. The Force Unleashed, however, was written very well. I was captivated the entire book, watching "Starkiller" change into Galen, his true self.

This book emphasizes changes that can be made within, no matter h...more

I read this book in conjunction with playing the game. It made for a unique entertainment experience. This book takes place between episodes 3 and 4. If I had read the book by itself I would give it 3 stars. I liked it. But while playing the game I absolutely loved it. I'd give it 5 stars so I split the difference and gave it 4 stars. It tells the story of the seeds of the rebel alliance. I played the Wii version of the game. I'd give the game 3 out of 5 stars, but was made better by th...more

This was pretty good, but it was not great. I mostly say that since the pace slows down a bit in the middle of the book. I rarely pick up books new, but the bookstore I bought it had it on a deep discount, and being curious, I bought it. I was a bit leery since it is based on a video game, but it was a pretty good escapist read. I think Star Wars fans will probably like it. It does bring in some nice perspective on the birth of the Rebellion, and we get another look at Darth Vader's plans. Once ...more

This book was is definitely my favorite Star Wars book yet! Sean's writing style is fabulous! The way he described each scene, with explicit detail, it was great! Through the entire book I only experienced a few unneeded scenes with slight gore. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes a good Star Wars story!

Certainly entertaining. However, the book is clearly based on a game with different scenarios, some of which are freakishly unrealistic for the genre. I almost stopped reading when the hero uses the force to control a star destroyer crashing into a planet. It is the same problem I had with Zahn's earlier works....

Wow what an awesome book! I was surprised that I couldn't put it down. Sure its based on a video game and written by a dude I never heard of. But its Star Wars, and is apparently canon too. It had superb characterizations and enthralling plot twists, and all the Force-bashing action you can shake a lightsaber at.

This is the adaptation of the video game of the same name. I really didn't care about any of the characters. There are probably too many coincidences that don't jibe with other stories of the early Rebellion such as the radio adaptation of A New Hope. I kind of dragged myself through the book for about a month.

Nothing surprising here... not a bad Star Wars book, especially for one based on a video game... but nothing to stand out here... Some of the Jedi tricks were a bit unbelievable (even for a being that can manipulate a mysterious energy for levitation, healing, lightning, etc.)...

The Force Unleashed is the first Star Wars book I've read and I have to say I am impressed. They characters were well formed and I got wrapped up in everything that was happening to them. Throughout the book you sway back and forth with the characters on a very interesting journey.
