It’s the second Christopher Snow adventure. I picked up the first one thinking it might be wonderfully written like the Odd Thomas books. I was let down. Well, I wasn’t as engrossed in the story and characters as I was in the Odd books. It was an interesting story, just not as good as Odd. Because I knew of this second book in the Snow series, I had to read it. Just because. Now I have and I’ll report.
I liked this second book better than the first. It certainly builds upon the first book...more

Koontz's books do fit into the "suspense" category, but I wouldn't categorize them as horror novels. Many of his books have distrubing moments, but I don't think they are horrific. Koontz's books sometimes absolutely terrify me, but also reassure me about the basic goodness found in mandkind. No matter what evil his characters face, Koontz always shows how the best of humanity can be found in the darkest of places.

I have an embarassing fondness for this sort of book. I love Doritos too, so it only makes sense. After all, this is the junk food of the written word-- it's quick, it's easy, it's not particularly edifying, but it makes you smile.
As the book begins, several children are taken from their homes and carried to a huge abandoned military base in coastal California. The base was the site of biological experiments that went wrong, so the area is full of all manner of creepiness and bad juju. The b...more

This is actually about the book, not the audio .... but I don't see a book listing.
This book is a sequel to Fear Nothing and continues the exploits of Christopher Snow. Having read both books, I am looking forward to the eventual arrival of #3 .... would be nice to find out what happens to the characters.
I sometimes get tired of Koontz's dog characters ... they alls seem the same, and are often smarter than their owners. However, Orson is his best dog character yet and sometimes eve...more

So apparently this book is part of a series and I did not read the first one. So, understandably, I was a little confused. However, I caught on quickly and this book is waaay cool. Again, Dean Koontz introduces cool genetically altered animals and a cool hero who's got something weird going on. Like the Odd Thomas books, the language flows really well and is sophisticated without being cheesy. The plot's a little off kilter, i think, but maybe it's just because I didn't read the first one. There...more

It was alright. Maybe because I read them out of order, but I kinda was glad when I was done with it. I am a huge Koontz fan but this one was definitely not my favorite.

The trouble I have with Dean Koontz novels is that I thoroughly enjoy them while I am reading them but I can never remember them after. This novel is no exception. Yes, I remember the scene where the protagonist loses his dog and a child (friends child is missing). But that is about it. Just now, I have thumbed through the novel looking for passages that would trip my memory and cannot find one. However, since I do remember the book flowed very well and I was excited to see how it ended I gi...more

I love this series. I wish, seriously wish with all my heart, that Dean Koontz would return to the Christopher Snow series. Even if he just wrote a book that was a pamphlet that said "Everybody dies" I'd feel like I at least got an end to this trilogy, instead I end up with a feeling of remourse because I'll never know what happens to Christopher Snow and his dog Orson, or their town of Moonlight Bay with it's Crazy Army Base Full Of Secrets. If Dean Koontz were to finish this book I'd...more

horror fans who like real characters and a bit of sophistication
Sequel to "Fear Nothing," in which Christopher Snow, his girlfriend Sasha Cohen, best friend Bobby Holloway and dog Orson confront the evil past of Christopher's mother and the evil future of Moonlight Bay.
Again, Koontz has created some fascinating characters that are nevertheless people I could meet, and would enjoy meeting, and put them into a plot full of horror, pain and labyrinthian twists. I re-read this every few years, and it's never lost its savor for me.

die hard fans of Dean Koontz who want to read everything he's ever written.
Strong characters aside, this is the sequel that should not have been. Perhaps it was the sequel that should have been better thought out. I don't know. Sequel or not, this book falls flat and is probably the only Dean koontz novel I simply have not cared for to date. I expected more after reading Fear Nothing. Perhaps Koontz felt taking the characters from a good novel and tossing them into a half-ass novel would make the story better. It didn't if that was the case. I recommend skipping this o...more

This was the first and last time I'm reading Dean Koontz. The book was ridiculous by every sense of the word and an ending that was so unsatisfying that the only way to make this book worth buying was to burn it and use as heat in the winter. I'll grant that it was a "page-turner" and it is pretty good reading for extremely long bus rides where you are the only one on the bus besides the driver.
I actually read the book, not listened to the audio, but I couldn't find that choice on here. This book was Ok, really what I have come to expect from Koontz, except this one was even more Sci-Fi than the rest....thus not so much my cup of tea. It was a good book for the plane flight over though, so I can't complain. If you like Sci-fi, then this book is DEFINITELY for you.

So far, So good. The characters always have some sort of special quality. There's always a furface and there's always a mmystery to solve. It's like the grown up version of good ass Scooby Doo!! haha.. kidding. I have a lot more to read on this book. I bought it at a Publix in Cocoa Beach for sun reading. I'm always interested in the genetic mutation stories.

The sequel to Fear Nothing brought more crazy mystery with a lot more thinking involved. I really enjoyed this one a lot and now I join everyone else who wants this trilogy to be completed after ten years.

I loved this book. I actually read it... all 443 pages, as apposed to listening to it. I normally listen to books on tape or CD.
Why hasn't Mr. Koontz written/released the third book. I have to know what happens next. He left it so open for the third book. I guess I have to wait, just like the rest of the world.

I like how the book takes place in 2 days and that the narrator is sarcastic and witty. The storyline is fantastical and unbelievable with DNA experiments and creatures and time travel. The main character has XP and lives a unique life. Ironically, his XP and lifestyle make the fantastical plot more believable.

While I usually really like Dean Koontz's stuff, this one was so-so. It took me a really looooong time to get into the book- like 3/4 of the way through it- then it got some cool sci-fi stuff going on,( me thinking "alright! finally!") then it ended kinda lamely. Not too bad, but definitely not his best either.

Loved the main character. Christopher Snow. He is messed up bad with a disease that does not allow him to be exposed to light. Pretty much, any light. He doesn't let him slow him down. His dog and sometimes odd friends help him with some CRAZY things that happen in appropriately named Moonlight Bay.

Koontz comes up with some weird main characters. The town of this story, complete with the huge abandoned military base, was written well. The actual pace of the story got a little weird, well, a lot weird, but I read through it fully entertained, and I guess that's why someone reads Koontz.
