Meh. I started this - my husband is a paramedic - thinking that it would help me empathize with some of the stresses he has, and ended up (after reading a very choppy, gushing/stilted book) thinking :There are SIX more in this series? Woof.
The last of the O'malley series. I enjoyed the series. It was a mixture of romance and suspense in every novel. You have to read all of the books though in order to really understand each character. Even though the books are about each of the siblings, the other siblings are developed through out all the books. It would be really hard to understand what was happening if not read in sequence.

I enjoyed the last book of the O’Malley series. Even though you know who the “villains” are from the beginning, it was interesting to see how the story & plot unfold. I like that although these stories are written by a Christian author they are not pushy about religion. As a Christian I am able to relate to the questions the O’Malleys all had and I enjoyed seeing how their perspectives changed through out the series. I thought this book (and the series) ended well, though I am a little sad t...more
I like Dee Henderson very much as a writer. She knows how to combine suspense and edge of your seat thrillers as well as a faith in God for her characters. Stephen O'Malley, one of the O'Malley orphans who became a family and took the same name when adults, is a Paramedic who suffers a loss which makes him not sure whether his profession is what he wants to continue with. He takes a leave, reconnects with a childhood friend, which grows into romance, while helping her with problems. She brings h...more
I feel like two stars is mean, and three stars isn't quite honest.
My brother asked me what it was about, and I told him it was kind of like watching a hallmark movie. A fairly pleasant waste of time when you have nothing better to do, but pretty predictable and boring. I know it's the last of a series, and I know for sure I don't want to bother reading the others now. It's not that it was bad, I just feel like there are better things to spend my time on.

Like some of the other reviewers, I felt this story was a little anticlimactic after being engrossed in the rest of the series. At the same time, there's no way I could have skipped reading this one. It was good to see them all come to a happy and peaceful end with a joyous future ahead. There was one scene where I found myself wondering if my audiobook was abruptly abridged! When Steven has his turning point where he comes face to face with his past and realizing that God's love can indeed ...more
I thought the six books (seven if you count the prequel) in the O'Malley series were good books. A few of the earlier ones were fairly predictable, but still well written and intriguing. Book five was a tear jerker. This book was very good. Different from the others in many ways, but still enjoyable.

This last book in Dee Henderson's O'Malley series continues Dee Henderson's excellence in writing. She crafts a story that involves the O'Malley siblings, their spouses and significant others, and their Christian faith as they deal with every day life as public servants. Will the last of the O'Malley siblings, Stephen, finally find his way to a relationship with God and Jesus as his personal savior? Will he and Meghan find their way to one another?
There was a gap between when I read Book 5 of this series and this book. Part of the reason was because Book 5 was so intense but also I didn't want the series to end! It was hard to read this book and know that there might not be another one. As far as I know, Dee Henderson still hasn't said for sure if there will be a Book 7 or not.
But read this book and all the rest of them. They are well-worth the time and effort!

Oh how I wish the O'Malley series could go on and on forever. But, alas, this is the last one and I will truly miss the wonderful family. The journey for them to become Christians and to find what they are looking for in life seems so real, poignant, and a work of the Lord. I probably cried at some point in each book, as I again realized the how wonderful and loving God truly is. Perhaps I will try some other Dee Henderson books, although I have so far found the O'Malley series to be my favori...more
Hmmm...my least favorite of the series. Throughout the series, there was some predictability in areas, and this book was no different. However, I found this installment to be difficult to get into. It was a slow start, it picked up for a while, and it had just an average ending. I was hoping for a whole lot more to the ending of the 6-book series.
I read True Valor, picked up off a sale pile, didn't like it much. Tried Rescuer because it was a whole different series, and a friend so highly recommended it. Much better, but I guess I'm just not a Henderson fan. If I read any more by this author, it would probably from the O'Malley series, if someone lends me their used book for free.
I love this series. I like the Christian background, the feel of God used by the Author. The ties within the family are also one of the most important parts of the books. She has a gift for drawing you in, and making you feel like you are part of the story. Recommend this series for adult readers. Am using same review for all books.
This is the last book in the O'Malley series and I'm sad to see it come to an end. Stephen was always present in the other books, but I was glad that we were really able to get to know him in this book. The love story between him and Meghan was very sweet and I liked how she had ties to the family when they were at Trevor House.

Dee Henderson never ceases to surprise me with her talent for writing. As a reader, I had gotten use to her pacing for the previous books in the series. I was surprised by the slight differences in style for this one but as the book progressed I realized why the change was necessary. It helped to foreshadow events that I couldn't see coming until they were there upon me. I had to keep turning the pages towards the end for fear that I would not sleep until I saw the events through to their co...more
This is by far my favorite of the O'Malley books by Dee Henderson. Stephan is lost and he tries to find himself elsewhere. This story depicts the sinner's NEED of THE SAVIOR. Dee Henderson has done a beautiful job of describing it!!
This was the second time I read this book, but the last was so far in the past that it was basically a new story to me. Meghan's story really made me think about people living with blindness, and that we shouldn't take anything for granted. It especially struck me when the book described how she loved to read, and started listening to audiobooks after the accident. I guess that hit me because I love reading and was currently reading, so to try to imagine suddenly not being able to was striking. ...more
A great ending to a great series! I loved all the books and am already ready to read them all again. I got them from the library, but I am seriously considering purchasing all of them so I can read them on a whim.

The last in the O'Malley series. Started them last year. They are easy reads with a little bit of mystery, little bit of love and a little bit of theology thrown together. I highly enjoyed them.

This book was good, but there wasn't a lot of action, and the book didn't seem to move along very well. But I like it because Stephen is now the youngest and I can identify with him.
Good book. End of the O'Malley series. I was always a bit sad that Jennifer did not get her own book, but Stephen's is a good story and a great place to leave the family.
Good, easy read. Plot and characters make you want to get the other books in the "O'Malley" series. Fiction and written by a Christian author with a Christian theme.
I loved this entire series, they answered some questions from the Bible but kept your heartt racing from the romance to the adventures to the heart wrenching moments.
This one disappointed me with its total predictability. All of the O Malley books have a predictability about them but this one was just too much for me.

The final chapter in the O'Malley series. I'm crushed, what am I going to read now? I love this series so much. I'm so glad I stumbled across her novels.
This book introduces the reader to the villain in the first few chapters, so you know who is behind everything, you just do not know what will happen.
By this point, the books in the series were becoming more predicable. I thought this one was the least likely of plots. Satisfyingly predicable overall.
This book was the best of the series. It wasn't as formulaic as the other ones. Dee Henderson has a way with compelling story. This story had me from page one.
The story starts right after the end of the last book. I don't want to spoil anything from that book and this one, but the last book had a very tough ending which affects Stephen, the main O'Malley. The way the story is written is very beautiful and a great way to wrap up the series.

This was a great end to the series. It brought it all home. The love that is shown in this book moved me beyond words. Another great read.
Its a bit slow at the beginning but does eventually get going. This is the last of the O'Malley series and its been interesting to read each book as they focus on each family member with their individual losses and their struggles to turn to Christ. More geared for women than men because of the romantic component.
