Winner of a Rose Metal Press chapbook contest. Well done but the style of these - with a couple of exceptions - is not to my taste. (Sounds like I'm responding to a submission.) I prefer gritty, direct, visceral and these stories are mostly smooth, indirect, and tonal.
This is punchy little book of short shorts, all beautifully written and full of original images. Forsyth delivers tales that combine wonder and simplicity, and it all flows together magically.
Incredibly powerful pieces packed in a very tiny space. Remarkable.
I wasn't familiar with Mr. Forsyth before this, but his handsome little debut (by the smart folks at Rose Metal Press) has ten great flash fictions, including ones where he talks about tennis, a hunchback fetish, peeing in the woods, and dissing Robert Frost.
This guy is the goods.
