I have to admit, this was the second time I picked the book up. The first time, I wasn't in the correct frame of mind to finish it and put it down half way through. This time around (and under differently life circumstances), I eagerly awaited each lesson that Slattery details in each chapter. In my opinion, Slattery does a great job giving a balanced perspective of the traps that couples fall into that could lead them to shaky marriages and how they can use biblical principles to turn their mar...more

While there's nothing completely revolutionary in this book, it's so well structured and put together with all the helpful advice that we, as wives, can so often choose to ignore. Each chapter was a manageable step towards opening communication and creating intimacy with my husband. Above everything it helped to remind me that I always have the strength to be encouraging in my marriage because my strength and value comes from Christ, and not my husband. That's a very easy thing to forget and it...more

I would recommend this book to any wife or potential wife. Sometimes we get in a rut and think that marriage is all about us or we only can see our side of things because we have blinders on. This book is fantastic in helping women to realize how they can maximize the relationship that they have with their spouse.

The first few chapters of the book were great, & though I finished the book, I didn't find the rest of it super-applicable. I did find the cycles of intimacy & self-protection interesting. Perhaps I would have gotten more out of it if it were studied in a small group setting.

Came at a perfect time in my life, when my marriage was challenged. God is so good to put in our path different forms of ministry (I.e. "this book") to speak to us. God will supply all our needs if we are willing to open our hearts to His leading.

First book that I studied with my ladies accountable group at "Joy In the Morning" Bethel Church, Richland. Very good spiritual reference and encouragement to help you finding the strong points your husband has rather than trying to point his weaknesses.
Full with study guide, bible verses memorizing and quizes to help you finding how well you've been doing on the 'lessons'.

I started reading this book and LOVED the first 3 chapters or so. After that I ended up just skimming through it.

Finding the Hero in Your Husband is an excellent resource for wives. Practical but profound, this book dispels myths about marriage and trains women how to be the best support possible for her husband. I have four pages of quotes typed up. Now I'm going to write a short paper for my discipler. It has been a very valuable read and I'm excited to implement all I have learned.

If you want a happy marriage read this. It is truly amazing how much it can change your whole life. I have to admit, the ideas in it are a little crazy compared to our culture, but if you put the ideas into your marriage you will see your husband change right before your eyes. Don't expect him to change unless you do.

This is an AWESOME book! Even if you think you've already have found the hero in him, this just helps you understand your husband in so many more ways, and how to be the best wife you can be.

Lots of good tips but sometimes I found it hard to figure out how to put them into practice.
