Erg. This last Bluford book (is this really the last?) was heart-wrenching. A new character but an issue that has been lurking around the corners of all these books -- abuse. Ben's story is truthfully told -- he vacillates between finding strength in himself and others, and between succumbing to the physical state that the abuse leaves him in. First person, interestingly enough, and a last testament to the kind of bonds that a strong community can forge, even in the most difficult of situations.

The book Search for Safety is a very good book that all teenagers out there should read. This book is about a teenager named Ben who lives with his aunt and his mother who marries the guy she thinks is really nice. He suddenly starts beating up Ben really bad. I think every body who read this book will really like this book like I do. The book can also connect to some teenagers and when you read this book you’re going to feel like if you were in their shoes.

Benny the main character of the book lives with his mom and his aunt until his mom decides to move in with her soon to be husband. The man she falls in love with, starts to discipline young benny in a manner he's never known. throughout the story he's beat and mugged in his new area of what he calls home. Even though its hard for him to adapt at first he learns how to protect himself and realizes he can fend for himself regardless of where his aunt is.

I read this book with my students, and I thought they would get into it. However, I never thought I would really like it. I don't know if I liked it because they did or if I really liked it. Easy read...took me about 3 hours total.

I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER SKIP SCHOOL AND I DONT REALLY LIKE THESES BOOKS BECAUSE ARE NOT VERY INTERESTING BUT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO READ THEM I DID ENJOY IT BUT IT WAS NOT ALL THAT LIKE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
