I think I now understand better why so many L.J. Smith's fans crave the last, 10th, installment of the Night World series - Strange Fate - to be finally published. Throughout this series of paranormal romances Smith has created a fascinating supernatural world and gradually built up to a great end-of-the-world showdown destined to happen in the final chapter of the story.

Huntress: This was my favourite in this book. It was so awesome, and I loved the relation ship between Jez and Morgeard. Jez was a really cool character and made me laugh and Morgeard was funny. "DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON ME, JEZEBEL! DON'T YOU DARE! Or I swear I'll follow you to the next world and KILL you." -- My favourite line. I liked Hugh; I loved the fact he was an Old Soul. It's really interesting. I liked everything about this story, and I didn't want it to end.

So far, Night World is my favorite L.J. Smith series, because it is the most cracktastic. It is full of the kinds of stuff your sixteen-year-old id comes up with and incorporates into your private vast crossover-ridden original fiction playground. (Everybody mashes up all their favorite characters and tropes into a personal fantasy playground when they're sixteen, right? Right? Guys?) It has a secret history of the world, in which there is a Night World of witches, vampires, and shapeshifters, w...more
I give this one a 3.5
I liked the stories in this book and I was anxious to get to the end because I wanted to know how the story would ultimately play out. This book had action, love, adventure, and danger. It was more than just a complicated forbidden love between the supernatural and the natural, it was building into something that can only be described as an awesome climax.

Five stars for ALL OF THE CHARACTER IN THIS THREE BOOKS. First we have Jez, badass character, allbeauty vampirism, in a gang with her not yet known soulmate Morgead. (view spoiler) Next book, well I just love the Middle Ages...more
Amazing! This book really knows how to capture its reader. I found myself completely tied up and totally chained with this book. I didn't got bored and it's really hard to put it down. I can sense the emotion and how each characters fights in the name of love and for the sake of the soulmate principle. No words can describe the exact feeling I felt when I read this. It brought me to a place so magical that I don't want it to end. My heart flutters and it sends an emotion so intense. I love every...more
Okay. Where to start? I've read this a long time ago, about a year? And I still remember the characters. I love Morgead and Jez, Delos and Maggie, as well as Keller and Galen. OMG. Soulmates stuff are awesome, actually. I love how Delos have yellow eyes and that he's a Wild Power, so as Iliana and Jez. So what was that prophecy?

I have reread the series so much my books are falling apart. Shes like a mirror to Kelly Armstrong. She has that way of introducing characters and having them come in later in the series to help the people you are currently reading about. However not to be a whiner she has not completed the series. This is a thorn in my side for she builds the series to a great climax then stops. The author had a few personal troubles so she took time off (which is understandable) but when she took up writing aga...more
A story about Jezebel, a vampire leader of a small gang who one days awakens to her true past while hunting a gang of skinheads. She gets involved with the daybreak circle, a group destined to hold in check all the evil supernatural creatures of Night World, and finds that an ancient prophecy about four wild powers and the end of the world may have closer impact than she knows.

This installment stars Jez Redfern, a half human half vampire. She ran away from her vamp family to live with her human relatives. But the reprieve was short lived when she goes back (Returns to Sup world, AKA “Night world”) when Circle “Daybreak” asks Jez to go on a perilous mission: to fight her worst enemy, best friend and soul mate, Morgead Blackthorn for the Wild Power! (Sup’s with extra super juice). Except the plan went totally wrong because she’d (Jez) been captured on the mission by Lil...more

This was, by far, the best book in the series so far. It may have had the same awful cover style, but it had the best stories inside. I personally loved all the books in the bind-up and thought 'Wow I can't wait for Strange Fate to come out!'. Well guess what? I still am. But that's not the point. The point is I adore how LJ is able to right off the bat grab your attention and have you feel for the characters fast. LJ is just amazing in that way because she literally weaves her own universe that'...more
This is a combination of my reviews for "Night World 7: Huntress", "Night World 8: Black Dawn", and "Night World 9: Witchlight."
In "Huntress" we meet Jez Redfern, a half-human and half-vampire who hunts vampires. In "Black Dawn" we explore a secret vampire kingdom with Maggie, a spunky teen girl. In "Witchlight" we follow Keller, a shapeshifter, as she tries to protect a Wild Power.

I started getting a little less amused and a little more annoyed with all the talk about limpid eyes that look like violets after someone cried on them or some such nonsense. I don't even know what that means. Is that supposed to be different from violets that weren't just rained on? I don't know. Anyway, the analogies continue in their complete inability to convey to the reader what the author has in mind. And things like "He could do it at the turn of an eyelash." How fast can you 'turn' an ey...more
Three amazing adventure-packed books all in one that kept me craving more and more! i love this author. i read the Secret Circle Series by L.J. Smith as well and adored them. I read No.3 first because that's the one my aunt bought, but i liked it so much i went back to Wal Mart and bought the first book and will be looking for the second, most likely.

Huntress:- The story was great! From the first line till the end of the Story. Kept me well entertained. :D The Characters were great too! Jezebel was a confident strong and an amazing character. I loved it how she will die for her friends and family. Morgead! Mysterious, hot ;) funny and a strong character...I am practically in love with him! "DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON ME, JEZEBEL! This was much, much better than the second volume!
The three novels contained in Night World No. 3:
Huntress -- A strong and engaging novel centering on a reluctant heroine, with some legitimately creepy villains and a likable love interest.
Black Dawn -- This had a great beginning, but the middle slumped a bit simply because it becomes overly cutesy and even juvenile in its humor. It begins as a dark and serious story, but this vibe tapers off when it should be retained.

I've said it twice, but I'll say it all once more, as much as I didn't want to admit it, I saw these books, knew they were about vampires, and couldn't even try to say no! When I found the Night World Volumes 1, 2 and 3 I became openly skeptical, a little unexcited(due to the surplus of unintelligent Young Adult Vampire novels as of oh so very recently, thanks Twilight!) but still couldn't ignore the fact that I was without a doubt going to read them.
I only wish that I knew how quickly and fero...more

Huntress, Night World
I recently read a book called Secret Circle and the main character can’t ask her mom about what is happening to her because she thinks they will think she is crazy, and her dad is dead. She can’t ask her mom or grandmother because they don’t want her or the other kids to have a Wicca circle because of what happened to the other kids’ parents. Also she has fallen in love with someone who she shouldn’t have, and it could break apart the circle and every thing they’ve worked...more

Night World No. 3 by L.J.Smith is 3 books combined towards similar goals. The first book, Huntress, is about young vampires, mainly Jez and Morgead. After almost killing a gang member, Jez, who is half vampire, decides to face her humanity and becomes a vampire hunter, living with the human half of the family. Her cousin Clair's jealousy almost gets them killed. The hunt is on for the individual with Wild Power. The 2nd book, Black Dawn, leads to a hidden valley filled with evil vampires, shapes...more
Huntress
I pretty much predicted this whole thing... Jez ending up with Morgead; Jez being the Wild Power; And even Pierce being the traitor in the gang. I don't know why it was so easy to predict, but I liked it nonetheless. The gang was cool and everyone had a love for each other the whole time. When Jez was gone for a whole year without a trace you would think the gang wouldn't have accepted her so easily, but the did and it was great.
Black Dawn

Huntress blew my mind. I had my suspicions from the start, because of her eyes, but it doesn't matter what color their eyes are I guess. The Wild Powers created a new spin on these soulmate principle books, making the stakes higher and more exciting. It seems weird that Jez's story was in this book, and not in the second book, because a lot of things happened in this book. Maggie's story I liked, it was just Delos' personality changed really quickly, almost too quickly. I never got the feeling t...more
super love this book from start to finish! I've reread this a couple of times and I have to admit I still can't put the book down once I've start reading it! ^_^ ♥ But my favorite among the three would be Huntress because wow having a guy like Morgead is like.... WOW! XD
