Opening Line: "Ah, hell, V, you're killing me."

LOVER ETERNAL is Rhage's story and oh man are we in for a treat. Such a perfect, heartbreaking romance. Continuing directly after Dark Lover, we find The Black Dagger Brotherhood now living together in Darius's mansion. Wrath has stepped up to the throne with his Queen Beth by his side, as the battle with the Lessers continues.

One of the things I loved about the book is that we get to know all the brother's a whole More...

Oh man. Lover Eternal just breaks my heart. Rhage and Mary are exceptional characters. Together, they are mesmerizing. Who knew that a womanizing warrior like Rhage could love someone like Mary. They are so different from one another. What I also loved was the fact that Mary was a little hesistant with Rhage. She didn't just fall into his arms because of his looks and reputation. She is a smart woman who sticks to the truth about life, which is that it only happens once. With her health on the More...

I am really kinda speechless after reading this book. Saying that I LOVED IT is kinda putting it mildly. Honestly, the other paranormal books I have read in the past few months have paled in comparison to these books so far. What makes it so different is the camaraderie between the Brothers and the heroes themselves are so unique in their own way.
Rhage is such a womanizer. I really didn't know if I would like him or not. But, as the storyline progressed and his true nature starts to r More...

I'm so late to the BDB series, that there's really nothing left for me to say about this book, LOL.

Anyway, here's my two cents...

I loved Rhage, and that's saying a lot considering that <spoiler>he had sex with another woman even though he was already in love with Mary. That should have made me yell "cheater" at the top of my lungs</spoiler> but, due to some miraculous writing by Ms. Ward, it only made me feel sorry for him. I think I even forgave him More...

Crack. Crack laced with rat poison. That’s what this series represents.

I’ve now read the first two books in this series and feel that both have been pleasantly distracting, entertaining and I intend to finish the series post haste. However, I’m definitely camping out with everyone who’s ever read these and gone, “huh?!? How could I possibly be enjoying this?”

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is a group of warrior vampires who are fighting to protect weaker civilian vam More...

Lover Eternal is only the second paranormal vampire romance I have read, and the second in J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It's predecessor, Dark Lover, tended to focus a lot on world-building and character development with the romance aspect being at least equal, but not necessarily the main focus. Lover Eternal differs in that it is much more focused on the romance and relationship of the hero and heroine. I really liked this, as I felt More...

This story is about Rhage who is cursed with a beast that emerges and takes him over whenever he is in physical pain. One evening he sees Mary and is overwhelmed and completely turned on by the sound of her voice. She says "Nothing" and he groans in pleasure. The Hall scene, that first meeting, had to be one of the most perfect first meetings put to page.

Seeing Rhage fall for Mary was one of the better evolutions of an immediate attraction I have seen. I liked seeing him n More...

Book two of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series may well by my favourite. Now we know the vampire world the characters inhabit, we can have some fun with it. The relationship between the two leads - sexiest, strongest vampire Rhage, and his mentally strong but physically very ill human lover, Mary - was wonderful to read.

This may be the only book with the ‘plain woman, hunky man desperately in love with her’ theme I can tolerate. Ward makes it believable, when it almost never is. The More...

I have a confession to make… But please don’t throw rotten tomatoes at me! PLEASE!

*in a tiny tiny voice* I *gulp* seriously gave Dark Lover, the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, umm, one star. *run and cower for cover*

I think I have a logical explanation on the one star. I seldom skim pages, but whenever there was a lesser talking, I just had to skip pages. Plus, I felt that the H/h were jumping on each other. I barely liked the romance, so the one sta More...

Okay, this was quite the shocker to my normally conditioned YA paranormal brain! But I have to admit, I really liked it. Much better than the first installment with a main character that I couldn’t help but fall for.

Okay, yes, a guy with the name Rhage that wears leathers and shitkickers is not my normal pick for a fictional man lurves, but when the guy sports a tatt of a dragon out of control, you can’t help but stop and take notice!

I really liked Rhage in this book. Mu More...

I am such a big baby, this has got to be the millionth time I have read this book, but yes, YES I still weep like a baby at certain points in the book. Me! I don't cry at anything, you remember that bit in the Lion King when Simba's dad dies? Dry. Eyed. Rhage and Mary walk in the room and I am sobbing my heart out. What the hell is up with that?!

Now that we are settling down in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world, it is Rhage's turn to find his shellan. And Mary Luce is the perfect fi More...

**2.5**

Lover Eternal frustrated me in much the same way Dark Lover did.

I don't like Ward's depiction of women, nor do I like the whole bonding experience. From the main character Mary to the Scribe Virgin's Chosen, the female characters only find some confidence when a man deems them worthy. Up until then, they're easily cowed damsels who gasp and flutter and lament their unattractiveness. This makes the mating game exasperating. It also makes my teeth itch on general pr More...

The dialog when this book started was so bad I would literally laugh out loud while driving in my car. I can totally understand why women love this author and the Black Dagger Brotherhood (BDB) series, the male characters say things women would want them to say. But men don't talk like that in real life. I guess that's why it's fiction.

There are books that are meant to be trashed, some meant to be shelved, but this book is meant to be passed around and highly recommended. Suffice it to say, I totally loved this book!!! I was thoroughly entertained and I'm overwhelmed I don't know where to start. Everything I'm looking for in a great paranormal romance is here - excellent story line, unpredictable plot (who would've thought? I didn't see it coming), constant character conflicts and developments, subplots, great love story, stea More...

First thing first I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. especially since I got into it with very low expectations... As I'm typing this review I'm torn between my liking the romance part & my irritation at the author overrated writing craft.

The unpalatable orgy of pop culture, & a few cringing moments & paranormal gibberish apart , *Lover eternal* is a really good novel. & as I tend to dislike most paranormal romances that's a high compliment indeed More...

5++ stars - Vampire Romance

This is my second favorite book of the BDB series. I just love warrior, brother Rhage, aka Hollywood. He is flirtatious, romantic, sweet, funny, vulnerable, adorably goofy, and deliciously sexy. Rhage and Mary’s relationship takes a bit to get started, but it’s a smokin’ hot, sweet, and touching romance that tugs the heartstrings. I LOVE the phenomenal BDB series, and it’s definitely the very best in the PNR genre!

I read this book almost 1,5 years ago and it's the only book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series that I hadn't written a review for. Which is strange because this is the book that sealed the deal for me.

I had just finished Dark Lover a week before and despite of the fact that I wasn't actually loving it, I was pleasantly surprised and positively intrigued by the Brotherhood. I was especially captivated by the mystery that was Zsadist and wanted to ge More...

I'm probably one of the only people who went into the second book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood not knowing what "shitkickers" were. I looked them up on-line, and got two definitions: a pair of cowboy boots, and a big heavy shoe or boot.

I'm choosing to go with a big, heavy boot, because I just can't see Rhage wearing cowboy boots. I like to picture them more like this:

This is Book Two of "The Black Dagger Brotherhood" series, and another winner for J.R. Ward. This novel tells the story of the incredibly handsome vampire Rhage, whose body is cursed with a violent beast, and how he finds his mate, Mary, a human dying of cancer.

The novels in this series are truly addictive. Each one is packed with tons of dialogue and sizzling sex. The plots and subplots are simple and flow easily from one scene to the next. An absolutely delicious read

Review from 2011 re-read:

WOW!! I just LOVED this book!! This is my 3rd read of it, and I swear I just loved it more than the first two times. Mary and Rhage are just an AMAZING couple, and this book had it all! It had the getting to know each other, falling in love, the ups and downs, dealing with Mary's illness, dealing with Rhage's beast, and when all was said and done, it all just came down to love. I absolutely love how open and honest Rhage is (with the exception of withhol More...

This is Rhage and Mary´s story and how they found each other. Rhage has pissed off the Scribe Virgin someday in the past and in punishment she set a curse on him. If he can´t blow off steam (either with sex or fighting) on a regular basis he´d go berserker and the beast inside him comes out to play – which is a danger for everyone around including himself.
Mary is a heroine with her TSTL-moments, especially her "I can´t let myself love him" speech made me roll my eyes every so oft More...

I really enjoyed getting to know another member of the BDB, this time Rhage. I also liked the character of Mary, not quite as much as Beth (from Dark Lover) but that is to be expected. I liked the hints at future storylines for Z and the new character of John. If nothing else, these books are completely absorbing and that to me marks a good story! I only missed there not being more Wrath and Beth in the story, but that is not surprising since it was Rhage's story. Another good one from J.R. I lo More...

Treat yourself to a intense reading dessert. I couldn't help myself here this is dripping with delicious dark fantasy. If you only read one vampire series this year make it this one! Ward has crafted a mesmerizing erotic romance that entices all the senses and will bring you back to the paranormal addiction. These books are addicting. I felt like I was right in there fighting with them against the evil.

This is my second time reading this series. I guess I missed the Brothers. It's much better the second time because I already know each of them so when they appear on the page it's like seeing an old friend. I already know how they interact with each other and it just make it all the better. And the amazing part is even though I've already read the series, the exciting parts are still More...
