Wartime in Morganville. Those siding with the vampires, go to the left. Those siding with the humans, go to the right. Those siding with both races, go to the Glass House. Oh, and there's a tornado on the way according to the weather forecast, do take cover.

What a lovely mess this book was. Parts of the plot make no sense at all, inconsistencies can be found from the second page and on (do fix that Morganville, it really is a shame) but it was still awesome.

The more I read this series, the more...more

Wow...so, i was really sad and disappointed about the ending...Claire working for bishop???i mean come on people that's unacceptable...I was so angry and Michael, was such an ass...his behavior was wrong and if he betrays his friends in the other books...not that he hasn't done it yet but it's like his under someone's control...and Mr. Bishop is the most cruel character I've ever read about in a book...I wanted to stake him right in the heart alright metaphorically speaking...and Myrnin???omg hi...more

This one was amazing. It's full of tension and suspense and it was literally impossible to put down. The war has started, and the vampires and humans find themselves working together to defeat a common enemy. It started off a bit slow, but once all the characters were back together, it was excellent. The plot has become quite complex, and there are so many characters to keep track of, but it wasn't hard to follow. The ending was scary, and not what I expected, so I'm hoping it changes in the nex...more

Well that was a giant disappointment. I was expecting something a lot different and maybe a book that didn't feel like a chapter of a larger book. The cliffhanger ending to these books drives me insane. I don't know if I'll bother to read the other books in the series when they come out. Claire is also a bit boring and I still can't see her motivations for jumping into every single problem.

Once again, a really great read. This book was much more action packed and eventful than the other books. Though I wasn't extremely compelled at the beginning of this book as the characters were apart, as they grouped together and the events progressed, the book became absolutely thrilling. This one was certainly action-packed and brought the series onto another level. Though I sometimes dislike lots of action as the fast pace can be hard to focus on, this one wasn't too hard to follow - it simp...more

All the morganville books are peices of perfection. When I started reading this book however, I never got the same action and thrill as the other books. It was a bit slow paced for me.

BUT, as I explored more of Cain's story, I got into whatever was happening. Everything comes crashing down as the war between Amelie and Bishop continued. Basically, out of control! There was a vast amount of action in the book maknig me want to read more and more.

As always, some kind of romance is shown. Claire's...more

I first read this series last summer on ebook, so obviously I was very eager to read the next installment. And I was not disapointed.

Lord of misrule starts where it left off in Feast of fools. There's a war going on and everyone is choosing sides. The humans are revolting against the vampires and there's a storm coming. Literally.

This is by far the best book in the series with the worst cliff hanger I find myself wanting to pull my hair out until the next one comes out in June.
Fangs for the Fantasy
All out war is now tearing through Morganville. Bishop and Amelie have gathered their forces and their factions and are feinting against each other in an underground conflict that could literally tear the town apart.

Parts of the town are burning, others in ruin. Refugees are flooding to the few safe spaces and among them many humans are finally seeing a chance to throw off vampire control and are lashing out and rioting in rage. But not all of their anger is directed against the vampires – human...more

Spoiler Alert!

The story takes off literally from book four where Claire, Shane, Michael and Eve are given separate tasks in the wake of a war between Amelie and Mr. Bishop who wants to take Morganville from under her rule. Claire is with Amelie to rescue Myrnin from Bishop and escape the trap he's obviously set for them. Shane is to guard the blood bank and the ancient book Bishop's after. Michael is to protect the university students and Eve is to follow Oliver to Commons ground. Thin...more

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rachel Caine has yet to disappoint. Though I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others in the series, I didn't dislike it. There were simply a few things about that pissed me off slightly. I can't say it was slow-paced, exactly, but I didn't like the fact that the majority of the interesting action happened behind the scenes. Amelie and Bishop went head to head in this book, though we never saw any of their battle. Hearing about it and seeing it for...more

This is the fifth book in The Morganville Vampire series. It's a rather involved series, so there will be various and sundry spoilers for the previous four books. If you haven't read them, skip this review and pick up a copy of GLASS HOUSES.

The back of the book proclaims that Morganville, Texas is just south of normal. As the book begins, things have really gone south. Amelie's father Bishop wants control of Morganville and she's not willing to give it up without a fight. The vampires are being...more

ok honestly, i liked it.. but there were some instances that wasnt really clear to me. i do have questions and i hoped it'll be answered in the next series..

questions like:
- jason, i mean, what is he's role in the story? really?? (first, he's with oliver, next he betrayed amelie, now he's with bishop) hasnt he died yet from all that riot in the city hall??
-myrnin-- he's a mystery!.. which side is he really on?? just keeps on betraying claire and slipping farther into insanity.
- oliver-- what hap...more

Lord of Misrule is book 5 into my new favorite series, The Morganville Vampires. This is yet another book from this series that I just can’t get enough of. This book did feel a tad bit different from the others. It was shorter and most of the action is in the end, but that doesn’t make this book any less enjoyable. Can’t stress it enough, if you haven’t started this series yet, get on it...more

Ok, I really love this series, but I'm getting really, really tired of these books ending on a cliffhanger. I don't mind when an author leaves an opening for more books in a series because, when you get right down to it, this is a source of income for them, and they want people to keep reading their books. Book two ends this way, where all the plot lines of that particular installment were wrapped up, but Claire does something at the very end of the book that leaves things open for another book...more

How the heck did I get sucked into the Morganville Vampires?? This is teenage, brainless vampire smut at it's finest. Seriously! I'll tell you how it happened to me.

It was such a mindless easy read...I flew through the the first book in a day. I must give credit to the author, Ms. Caine. She lead me into a clever trap at the endings of the first few books. I couldn't walk away without knowing what happened to these stupid, annoying teenagers in the Glass House. I went straight to my ipad Amazon...more

Bishop is the new bad guy in town, and he wants to make sure that everyone knows it. He’s intent on taking control of Morganville at the expense of his daughter Amelie and her followers, and with all the power and support he has gained, it seems like there’s no one to stop him. But Claire and her friends won’t give up. There are still vampires and humans loyal to Amelie, and they refuse to go down without a fight. So as storm clouds approach, Claire and her friends prepare to defend their home,...more

The action in this series is certainly picking up, even though the small annoyances are of course, still there. I love the entirely new spin that Rachel Caine has given to this series, and it felt like the story is breathing new life while still involving the characters that we love and hate.

I still enjoy Claire as the main character, although some of her decisions astound me and leave me staring at the book going "really? That's what came to your mind?" Shane and Michael's interactions of fist...more

Rachel Caine

I am in awe of Rachel Caine and this series. Each book continues to maintain a high level of excitement and a total infusion into the life of the characters. I feel as though I know Claire Danvers even as her character strengthens and grows. I believe that Claire amazes herself as she struggle to find a cure for what is ailing the vampires of Morganville and maintain the lives of her friends and family. The town is in chaos…houses and buildings are burning and Clair...more

Spoilers for all previous books. Also, continuing my discussion of the historical aspects of 'Feast of Fools' the term, Lord of Misrule, is also associated with the celebration, but after some priests got a bit too jolly in Paris back in the 12th century heavy restrictions were placed upon the title (ordinarily the leader of the church) to keep the person in check.

I'm reluctant to put to paper (so to speak) my thoughts of Lord of Misrule because I'm honestly torn up. I don't think I can put word...more

DAGNAB YOU RACHEL CAINE!!! Dagnab you to heck for being a fab writer and leaving such a hellah dangly cliffhanger!! One saving grace, I can go get #6 CARPE CORPUS sooner since I didn't read LORD OF MISRULE until well after it came out. CARPE is on the shelves as of June so I can get relative immediate satisfaction...just have to get to the bookshop or hit the send button on the book order.
The first in the series, GLASS HOUSES, will remain my favorite, but LORD OF MISRULE is a very close second....more

OH MY FUCKING GOD! I HATE BISHOP! I started reading this book and I was like "Ok, Morganville is in the middle of a crisis. What else is new." But...oh hell, I can't even write I'm so emotional. I hate Bishop. (I love Shane! <3) I did not expect the whole thing with the book, Claire's arm, and he swearing fealty to Bishop that he made her do. COME ON MYRIN! You were one of my favorite characters. You were this really sweet guy or was crazy and at some times just plain creepy... I hope that Bi...more

I absolutely loved this book, although the ending was abrupt and left me frustrated. If I didn't already have the next book, I'm quite sure I would be quite pissed off. To be quite honest, I know the author wants people to read her next book in the series but I hate the sudden cliffhangers that end mid-scene.

This book was a surprise, for the fact that Feast of Fools fell short to my expectations. I finished it in a matter of hours and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved that Claire started stand...more
