Recommends it for: Fans of YA vampire books
This one was amazing. It's full of tension and suspense and it was literally impossible to put down. The war has started, and the vampires and humans find themselves working together to defeat a common enemy. It started off a bit slow, but once all the characters were back together, it was excellent. The plot has become quite complex, and there are so many characters to keep track of, but it wasn't hard to follow. The ending was scary, and not what I expected, so I'm hoping it changes in the nex...more

Well that was a giant disappointment. I was expecting something a lot different and maybe a book that didn't feel like a chapter of a larger book. The cliffhanger ending to these books drives me insane. I don't know if I'll bother to read the other books in the series when they come out. Claire is also a bit boring and I still can't see her motivations for jumping into every single problem.

Once again, a really great read. This book was much more action packed and eventful than the other books. Though I wasn't extremely compelled at the beginning of this book as the characters were apart, as they grouped together and the events progressed, the book became absolutely thrilling. This one was certainly action-packed and brought the series onto another level. Though I sometimes dislike lots of action as the fast pace can be hard to focus on, this one wasn't too hard to follow - it simp...more

All the morganville books are peices of perfection. When I started reading this book however, I never got the same action and thrill as the other books. It was a bit slow paced for me.

BUT, as I explored more of Cain's story, I got into whatever was happening. Everything comes crashing down as the war between Amelie and Bishop continued. Basically, out of control! There was a vast amount of action in the book maknig me want to read more and more.

As always, some kind of rom...more

I first read this series last summer on ebook, so obviously I was very eager to read the next installment. And I was not disapointed.

Lord of misrule starts where it left off in Feast of fools. There's a war going on and everyone is choosing sides. The humans are revolting against the vampires and there's a storm coming. Literally.

This is by far the best book in the series with the worst cliff hanger I find myself wanting to pull my hair out until the next one comes out in...more
Fangs for the Fantasy
All out war is now tearing through Morganville. Bishop and Amelie have gathered their forces and their factions and are feinting against each other in an underground conflict that could literally tear the town apart.

Parts of the town are burning, others in ruin. Refugees are flooding to the few safe spaces and among them many humans are finally seeing a chance to throw off vampire control and are lashing out and rioting in rage. But not all of their anger is directed against the vampir...more

I thought that this book was boring compared to the other books in the series.

Morganville. Texas. Just south of normal. In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, a master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn't the only threat. Violent black clouds promise a storm of devastating proportions. As student Claire Danvers and her friends...more

Lord of Misrule is book 5 into my new favorite series, The Morganville Vampires. This is yet another book from this series that I just can’t get enough of. This book did feel a tad bit different from the others. It was shorter and most of the action is in the end, but that doesn’t make this book any less enjoyable. Can’t stress it enough, if you haven’t started this...more

Ok, I really love this series, but I'm getting really, really tired of these books ending on a cliffhanger. I don't mind when an author leaves an opening for more books in a series because, when you get right down to it, this is a source of income for them, and they want people to keep reading their books. Book two ends this way, where all the plot lines of that particular installment were wrapped up, but Claire does something at the very end of the book that leaves things open for another boo...more

How the heck did I get sucked into the Morganville Vampires?? This is teenage, brainless vampire smut at it's finest. Seriously! I'll tell you how it happened to me.

It was such a mindless easy read...I flew through the the first book in a day. I must give credit to the author, Ms. Caine. She lead me into a clever trap at the endings of the first few books. I couldn't walk away without knowing what happened to these stupid, annoying teenagers in the Glass House. I went straight to my ...more

Bishop is the new bad guy in town, and he wants to make sure that everyone knows it. He’s intent on taking control of Morganville at the expense of his daughter Amelie and her followers, and with all the power and support he has gained, it seems like there’s no one to stop him. But Claire and her friends won’t give up. There are still vampires and humans loyal to Amelie, and they refuse to go down without a fight. So as storm clouds approach, Claire and her friends prepare to defend their home, ...more

The action in this series is certainly picking up, even though the small annoyances are of course, still there. I love the entirely new spin that Rachel Caine has given to this series, and it felt like the story is breathing new life while still involving the characters that we love and hate.

I still enjoy Claire as the main character, although some of her decisions astound me and leave me staring at the book going "really? That's what came to your mind?" Shane and Michael's ...more

I am in awe of Rachel Caine and this series. Each book continues to maintain a high level of excitement and a total infusion into the life of the characters. I feel as though I know Claire Danvers even as her character strengthens and grows. I believe that Claire amazes herself as she struggle to find a cure for what is ailing the vampires of Morganville and maintain the lives of her friends and family. The town is in chaos…...more

Spoilers for all previous books. Also, continuing my discussion of the historical aspects of 'Feast of Fools' the term, Lord of Misrule, is also associated with the celebration, but after some priests got a bit too jolly in Paris back in the 12th century heavy restrictions were placed upon the title (ordinarily the leader of the church) to keep the person in check.

I'm reluctant to put to paper (so to speak) my thoughts of Lord of Misrule because I'm honestly torn up. I don't think I ...more

DAGNAB YOU RACHEL CAINE!!! Dagnab you to heck for being a fab writer and leaving such a hellah dangly cliffhanger!! One saving grace, I can go get #6 CARPE CORPUS sooner since I didn't read LORD OF MISRULE until well after it came out. CARPE is on the shelves as of June so I can get relative immediate satisfaction...just have to get to the bookshop or hit the send button on the book order.
The first in the series, GLASS HOUSES, will remain my favorite, but LORD OF MISRULE is a very close s...more

I absolutely loved this book, although the ending was abrupt and left me frustrated. If I didn't already have the next book, I'm quite sure I would be quite pissed off. To be quite honest, I know the author wants people to read her next book in the series but I hate the sudden cliffhangers that end mid-scene.

This book was a surprise, for the fact that Feast of Fools fell short to my expectations. I finished it in a matter of hours and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved that Claire s...more

The Morganville Vampires Series is a well-loved Vampire Young Adult Read with a huge fan following. I can understand where this love for Caine's work comes from, it is captivating and addictive, intriguing and compelling. As a teen read, it is an easy read. No big challenge here, but sometimes those are the best, because you can power through them at a quick pace, keeping up with the action within.

Just as predicted, after reading book four in the Morganville Vampires series, this one...more

So I'd like to start off first by saying that when you read these books, you need to appreciate them for what they are, and that is a teen fiction book. With that being said, I really enjoyed this one because it was EXTREMELY action packed! It was non-stop from start to finish, and I loved every second of it!

I like that this series has both sides of the Vampire style. The Twilightesque style where there is the good looking vampire that the girl falls in love with, and there's the Bla...more

I didn't get into it quite as much as the other books, but possibly because i was making myself read it before I would allow myself to sit down with some other new books I really wanted to read, and one I have on loan out that I need to return and it's going to take me a bit to read (Freaking TOME of a book).

Lord of Misrule turns the entire Morganville series on its head - if you ever have to skip a book, make sure it isn't this one! The relative comfort our characters used to live in has gone, and has been replaced with a war in the trenches. Any action that I might have felt was missing in Feast of Fools is made up for in Lord of Misrule - I gave up counting the life-or-death situations by page 30.

The action turns the entire town on its head, and the change brings out the hardness in ...more

The chess match has begun. Bishop has set the game in motion and he won't back down. Poor Claire (and many other innocent in Morganville) are caught in this deadly game. Every situation in this book is tied to everyone's survival, including Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael. They've really gotta watch each others backs now that Bishop and his lap dogs, Francois and Ysandre are schmoozin' around. Plus, Eve's psychotic brother is on the loose and no one knows what he'll do next or can even begin ...more

I don't even know where to begin. I feel as if It's kind of wrong to talk about Lord of Misrule without talking about Carpe Corpus, almost as if the two should go together. But alas I shall try to give you a hint as if this book is worth your money.

In this book, the vampire war is in full swing. The forces of Amelie and Bishop lining up against one another as they both jockey for position. Some of the human population also decide to rise up against both sides and Shane's vampire slayer father makes another appearance so there is danger on all sides for Claire and her friends.
