Well, I just checked my E-Mail, and found that this book is arriving to me through the mail, because I just won it!! :D So, after I receive it, and read it, I will be sure to let everybody know how it goes! Thanks. (And a HUGE thanks to Good Reads, and the author for giving this away to me.)
Update!!
Where do I even start to tell you how amazing this book was? I'm fourteen years old, and this is a fairy tale, yet I enjoyed every second! Each page filled me with the feeling that I was truly there...more

When I started The Unicorn Girl, by M.L. LeGette I was hoping for a light easy entertaining read. That was exactly what I got. LeGette does a very nice job keeping the story moving and the reader engaged throughout.
The Unicorn Girl is the debut novel for M.L. LeGette. She started writing it when she was 14, and over the course of 6 years and many revisions her first novel was published in 2008. LeGette has since released another novel in 2010, For The Kingdom. LeGette not only uses her creative...more

This book was beautiful. I actually took longer than normal to read it because I didn't want it to end. This was suspenseful, mysterious, and felt like a fairytale fantasy.
The characters are deep and engaging, with multiple levels and dimensions. I enjoyed the character dynamics and interactions- much like real life; we were never sure of what another character was really thinking or planning.

i really enjoyed this story. there was a richness to the discriptions within the story. i could visulize every detail as if i was standing right within the story. it had believable character dialog. it had action, adventure, and even a few characters one loves to dislike.
i would have liked the background infomation about leah's mother and information on the connection to the unicorns closer to the beginning. (i would've loved a novella on just the background information because i wanted to kn...more

I won The Unicorn Girl from a Goodreads Giveaway. I thought the book was magical. The book sucks you in and you don't want to put it down. The author's writing style was fun and imaginative. It takes you on a ride with Leah, who is fifteen years old, through her lessons with Miss Perish on becoming a proper lady, her sleeping sickness, the physical and emotional changes after her sickness and an adventure where Leah encounters witches, vors, crags, dragons and even a sphinx in order to save the uni...more
WOW, WOW, WOW! What an amazing fairytale! I am not sure were to begin, it had everything, witches, elves, prince, knight (not so shinning armor), unicorns, dragons, sweet beginnings of first love, I am sure I am missing something. Such a delightful read, I was so captivated by the Leah's story, and all her adventures. Leah is a strong, stubborn, unique girl who is not like the other girls her age. She isn't into appearances only or how to trap a man, she has more substance. Leah gets and illness th...more
I enjoyed Leah Vindral's story. You could see her growth through the book into the courageous young woman towards the end. My one complaint is that I would have liked to have gotten to know Ian better. I just did not feel the connection between he and Leah. His character really needed to be better developed. Also, the story dragged a bit in certain spots. I fund the part where she leaves home and wanders in the woods a bit boring. All in all, it was a good read. It just was missing that little e...more
Could have been a very interesting story, but I don't know where to begin... I had a hard time reading this book. There were moments when I was having fun and enjoying it, but then I would feel absolutely frustrated!
I didn't understand why anyone was acting the way that they were. A lot of their actions weren't consistent with their personalities, it just seemed that the author forced some of the choices of the characters just so drive the plot. Also, the plot was a total cliche! Which, I guess...more

The Unicorn Girl completely surprised me. I judged this book by it's cover (not the best) and was so happy that I read it. M.L. LeGette has written a wonderful fantasy story that allows readers to follow Leah as she goes on the adventure of a lifetime. This book is packed full of fun, adventure, bravery, and the ever hard process of growing up. The writing in this story must be addressed, it is absolutely beautiful. There is nothing like being able to picture yourself in the story right along wi...more
Let me start by saying that this wasn't what I expected. The cover left me thinking that this would have been a book I would have enjoyed in my pre-teens, which isn't a bad thing but I've had a lot of trouble relating to books like that lately. But this one wasn't like that. It actual was cute and had a few twists that I didn't see coming.

After winning the book, I realized that the author was from near my home town and my family knew her family. It took me a while with my schedule to get a chance to read this book. What was exciting was knowing the author's family and how great it was to read her book.
The story was a easy read with the characters being one all can relate to. You feel the emotions shared by the lead character, Leah. You want to learn more and follow through her adventure with the unicorns.

This book was a fun journey filled with knights, witches, elves, chases, battles and a girl with more courage then she thought she possessed.

I received a signed copy of The Unicorn Girl in a Goodreads giveaway. I was interested to see how ML LeGette was as a young writer and while I wasn't dissappointed in the way it was writen, the story took me on too many ups and downs. The beginning captured me, but then I became very uninterested, this made it hard for me to complete, and I'm sad to say, I haven't completed it as of yet. I'm hoping one day I will be able to get sucked into this book, but the story line just isn't what I'm lookin...more
Wow. I love this book! It is one of the page-turner that leave me breathless after every chapter. At first when I started the book, I thought that maybe I was a bit too old to start reading fairy tales stories like this. Boy, I was wrong! This novel is a mixture of suspense and mysteries, with such details that made me feel like I was traveling with Leah herself. I love the plot, love the characters (well, most of them), and can't wait for the author's next book.

Unicorns. That's all you need to know.
Remember in middle school and you had to create a story on your own version of a myth? That's what this reminded me off.
The first half of the book was your standard girl-doesn't-know-who-mom-really-is-strained-connection-with-dad-and-now-RUNAWAY. A little light on the dialogue, it was half deciding to be cheeky or real (e.g, you think witches ride on brooms, hahaha.)
The second half of the book was a little better.

I LOVED this book. The magic, the friendship, the adventure was absolutely gorgeous. From the very beginning the author unfolds the story of Leah's life and journey that has the reader turning pages as fast as possible and never wanting to put the book down. This book easily becomes a favorite that you'll want to share with all your friends. This book was absolutely excellent.
