Azaam gave me this cookbook for my birthday! :D
We actually ogled this book at the EMP's Sci-Fi Museum's gift shop, so I may or may not have gotten overly-happy when he gave me this book.
The recipes in Wookiee Cookies: A Star Wars Cookbook are just run-of-the-mill simple recipes one could get from any general cookbook. That part made me a little sad, but in a way I feel it adds something to the nostalgia; like maybe they are Grandma's home-recipes from Alderaan.

Illustrated with hilarious dioramas using Star Wars action figures, this cookbook features delicacies from galaxies far, far away such as Hoth Chocolate, Jabba Jiggle, Greedo's Burritos, and Han-Burgers. The recipes aren't too advanced. The challenge comes in the presentation, for example "TIE Fighter Ties" calls for only two ingredients, hotdogs and refrigerator breadsticks, but there is some assembly required. This is truly playing with your food :)
Ok, so the only recipe I've made from this cookbook is the Twin Sun Toast which, by the way, was quite a hit at our house. That said, I have to recommend this book to anyone with Star Wars fans, young or old, in the family. The book is rarely on my shelves at my K-5 library. It stays checked out from the beginning of the school year till the last possible minute before summer and usually has a waiting list. Each recipe has been given a Star Wars based name and is illustrated with cleverly placed...more
The names of the recipes are clever and cute, and the photos of Star Wars action figures interacting with the food are awesome!
My kids were thrilled to check this book out!
A few of the recipes are pretty basic, but there are also several that may inspire kids to try something a little different (for example, one of my kids ate pancakes with pineapple rings cooked into them, and another ate chili that had garbanzo, and black beans in it).
So far, we have tried the Crazy Cantina Chili, the C3PO Pan...more

In a Kitchen far, far away...
My cousin allowed me to put dishes away. But I blundered that task by picking the wrong cabinet. And as the door closed, sunlight slashed across holo-foil. Giddiness bubbled up in me as the words 'Star Wars' registered in my brain. Quickly, I asked for permission to take the tome from its place amongst her other cookbooks
She agreed and I hurried to finish my dish task, collect my mother to share in this moment, and yank the book down from whence it...more

This German version of the Star Wars cookbook contains the translations of all recipes from both of the original versions.
Even for someone who has little experience in cooking and baking, the recipes are fully comprehensible and easy to follow. However, a number of the recipes in this book are far from innovative: Although the Wookiee Cookies were as good as I had hoped they would be, they were hardly any different from the cookies I usually bake. OK, it's basically a cookbook for adolescent boys. However, the desert recipes were pretty good, and the food is actually kid-friendly and fairly healthy. Priceless for the illustrations that accompany the recipes and the intro explaining why adults are useful - even Luke needed guidance.
If you're a Star Wars fan, or trying to get your kids more interested in food or cooking, this is totally for you.

This book is awesomeness. The action figures cracked me up and the recipe names are great. However the recipes themselves weren't all that amazing. Most of the recipes although tasty for example the grilled cheese didn't exactly relate to star wars. Pretty much the author took some basic dishes such hamburgers or pancakes and came up with a clever name.
The names of the recipes are very cute, accompanied by a Star Wars action figure photograph, usually in some funny stance. Yet many of the end products are not all related to Star Wars. The cookies are just cookies. Some recipes though do make Star Wars characters like R2D2. Overall, many of the recipes would be fun to make.
As a cookbook, this is okay. Nothing out of the ordinary, and you could find better recipes online (Brownies, sundae..etc).
However, it's a good novelty item, so. Get it if you're a fan of Star Wars.

My boys loved inviting friends over for Star Wars snacks. Easy to make & scored points with school mates.
My older son discovered this book at his school library (we are now owners of our own copy). Inside the front cover was a note from the librarian to not return this book late as it's in high demand. I can see why. The recipes..yummy & easy. The photos..a riot. The concept..genius. We LOVE this book!

I just bought this one to use in decorating my kitchen and haven't tried any of the recipes yet. Most of the recipes seem fairly average, but titles like Yoda Soda and Hoth Chocolate really made me laugh. The pictures accompanying the recipes are also really clever and show finished version of the recipe alongside Star Wars action figures. This book really brought back some fun childhood memories!
I didn't realize this was for kids before picking it up. I was interested in the pictures of the dishes for humor value but i was disappointed both in the lack of a picture for each recipe (while there is a lot of unused space in the pages) and the fact that the only thing making mostly of them a star wars recipe was the addition of figurines on the food. The ones
I can't imagine summer without doing some cooking with the kids! Here is one of our library selections we tried this summer.
My kids loved the photos and names of the food even though we aren't huge into Star Wars yet. The food we tried was good, but many recipes were complex for a young child. Maybe more age appropriate for a 10+ year old cook.
