Hmmm. Well. Didn't hate it, but it didn't seem to have a lot of substance for a plot either. Highlights were mainly John's internal thoughts about whether his boy was evil and destined to lead a dark army, yet he was relentless in how far he'd go to protect him also—so I really loved that because it fits with how I view John. There was also a really nice moment when he shows Sam the sunrise and how it banishes any darkness.

This is the followup to Supernatural: Origins, and I think it's even better than the first.
The graphic novel again focuses of John Winchester, but this time Sam and Dean are much more involved. It picks up a few years after Origins and focuses on John dealing with the relationship he has with his kids and trying to figure out how to raise them and keep them safe. We begin to see Dean come into his own and start down the path to becoming a hunter.

The first Supernatural comic series, "Origins," was terrible. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it before seeing the TV episode that contradicted most of the comic series. With "Rising Son," you don't have that problem. In fact, I'd say right now is the perfect time to read this series. The ending of the last TV season is fresh in your mind and you can see what they were going for with the comic. And it's good. I mean, REALLY good. This book is the perfect pr...more

I'll keep it simple. It was creepy. It was all about Sam and others thinking that young Sam already was basically the anti-Christ. The demons were salivating for him, hunters were lurking and John and Dean were protecting. All while Sam acted like a normal kid, except for the few times when he did not. The drawings of Dean and Sam were good. John was drawn so-so. Interesting! Much much better than Beginning's End.

This book was really fun, I liked it better than the previous Supernatural comic. More Sam, for one thing, and a cute mini-comic at the end ^-^
if i just wanted to fill in the blank pieces of Sam and Dean growing up with my imagination, I wouldn't have read this. Nothing new here. Just pretty pictures.
*Drools!* I can't wait to get to this. Too many books and novels, too little time.
Better art than the first one. But still, only interesting for an obsessive like me.
It's great to see the earlier days, and from a different perspective, yet still about Sam and Dean. Also, I think this fitted in perfectly with series four, probably the start of series five, and though knowing what happens in the future could answer some of John's questions, it reminds us that there's still a lot of things unanswered. I love young Sam and Dean, and the ending where we were brought up to date with grown up Dean was beautifully done. In other words, I love it to bits. I hope ther...more

Well, at least one didn't have the OMG!EYES! issues that the first books has (see my review here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/edit/238...)
In fact, I did enjoy it. Though I guess you still gotta be a comics fan to really like these books. Me, I just have them because I'm a manic fan and collector. If you are neither, don't buy.

Pretty much this and all the comics in the Origins series kinda suck. Will not be purchasing more.
