The Redemption series won "Christian Retailing"'s 2005 Retailer's Choice Award for Best Series Convinced she could make it on her own, Ashley Baxter has kept the most important people in her life at a distance-her family, the man who loves her, and the God she is sure can never forgive her. REMEMBER, the second installment in the Redemption Series traveled at a quicker pace than it’s predecessor. While still keeping the reader in touch with the entire Baxter family, this book centered more on Ashley – the self prescribed black sheep of the family, and Luke – the perfect son whose life isn’t so perfect anymore.
Ashley has never felt like she’s fit in. Her close-knit Christian family is what others would consider ideal. But Ashley would call them “safe”. Ashley sought out to find mor...more

This was a book that was a little hard to read. It was about Luke and Reagan and going to far and having sex after they had committed to staying pure until their wedding night. The night they did this was September 10. Reagen's father had called that night and she did not answer. She told Luke she would call him back tommorow. The next day was September 11 and the twin towers attack. Reagan's father was killed while he worked on the 90th floor of the twin towers. Reagan went to New York to be wi...more
While this book is a continuation of the Baxter Family series, I have to say that the true characters in it are the people living in the Alzheimer care center. Most of the time I was just reading through particular parts just so I could see how things were going with the Alzheimer patients and whether or not the office manager would get the sack because I pretty much couldn't stand her. Not much gets resolved in this book. The only story line that is seen through to some kind of conclusion is Ka...more
I'm not much of a reader of Christian fiction, though I have read it in the past. I was mostly expecting to make fun of this book and I certainly wasn't expecting to get pulled completely into the story. But of course I was! Yes, it was a little soap opera-ish and sometimes felt a little too much like a Victorian morality story from a pamphlet preaching the consequences of sin, and there were parts that grated just a little too much with my worldview, but overall I found it a pretty fun read.

An OK fast light read for when you are in the mood for a soap opera. YA level of writing makes it a good choice on evenings when you are too tired to concentrate or engage your brain, but it would be a more enjoyable novel if any of the characters would grow a brain and engage it--but that would make it a shorter, leaner novella. This sausage was made with too much filler and not enough meat.
The second in the Baxter Family / Redemption series. In the first novel we meet the Baxter family, but the novel is centered on the daughter Kari.
In Remember, the focus is on Ashley. Ashley went to Paris for a year just after high school and came home pregnant, no longer religious, and harboring a secret that shapes and affects all of her personal relationships. In this novel, we relive the events of September 11, 2001. Many of the characters in the story are shaken by these events and it aff...more

This is the 2nd book of the Redemption series and focuses on the daughter Ashley, and how she comes to realize who she is in this world. This is a more slower-paced book then the 1st book, (hence the 4 star rating) however it is just as great. Ashley is a very relatable character that has given into the worldly scene which has left her with a son without a father. She seems to pass her son off on her parents as they raise him the majority of the time while she discovers who she is in this life a...more
I really liked this book :)
I think Ashley might be my favorite character, actually (or at least one of them) :) I think it's 'cause of her reticence and willingness to learn. One of the things I appreciate about this series is the different paths of faith that are represented by the characters. And every now and then I'd find myself reading thoughts, questions, etc. that I've also had. I also liked how the main characters (Kari and Ryan) from the first book were not dismissed in this second one...more

Of the three books in this series that I read, this one edges out as the favorite because we learn more about Ashley, the "wild child" of the series. (Lord help me, this writer loves her cliches.) Here's my question: Have the Baxter kids had any sex education? Ever? Not to give too much away, but there are a number of out-of-wedlock pregnancies in this series, and the aplomb with which the characters admit that they "never considered getting pregnant" in the heat of the moment is startling. Espe...more

Ashley Baxter ran away to Paris. When she came back, she was fixing to have a baby. She is not married and the Baxter family do not have a clue about what happened. As she questions whether God can forgive her, her high school sweetheart comes back into her life. When she starts to open her heart once again, he is in the 9/11 attack. She never admitted her true feelings until then. He knows her story, and is willing to love her even though she has her faults. She finally asks God for forgiveness...more
I have read many books by Karen Kingsbury. When I first started reading them I couldn't get enough..and it seemed to take "forever" for her next book to come out. After a while though, I felt I knew what was going to happen once I had started reading each book. I stopped reading her books after that - I don't like to waste my time by pretty much knowing the outcome once I've started reading. Her books are wonderful - if I felt I was reading a complete different series that would have a different...more
The Redemption series is remarkable mainly for showing real people, real Christians, handling very much real world problems. Not for the faint of heart. If you just want a feel good romance type novel, go see Beverly Lewis. This is more modern day, and the characters are not perfect, nor does everything always have a happy ending. Parts of this book were difficult to read, because you weren't sure that Christian ideals and principles were really going to be upheld, or whether it would descend to...more
Karen Kingsbury has done it again. Another great book. I remember when I had first starting reading the first book in this series (Redemption) I was not sure I would like it. Turns out I loved it and could not put it down. I was excited to start the second one in the series. This is a amazing series that everyone should have the chance to read.

This book. Oh, my goodness, this book. Tugged at my heartstrings more than any other book has. I am in love with the Baxter family. In love with their stories, their heartaches. I feel like they are a part of me now.
I knew beforehand that Karen Kingsbury does not write books that are full of fluffy Christianity, puppies, and rainbows. She writes about things that are tough and hard. Christians who are persecuted. Christians questioning their faith. Christians going through good times and bad tim...more

I liked this so much I read it in two days. I do have to say the story line was real similar to Kingsbury's Where Yesterday lives. Kingsbury uses almost the same love interest storyline in this one with highschool sweethearts but with a different twist in Remember. Just saying it was like deja vue but enough diffence to keep me reading. What I learned was that no matter who you are christian or nonbeliever life doesn't go as we plan it but it is so much better when you have the Lord on your side...more
This book focuses on the 2 youngest in the Baxter family. Ashley, an artist left for Paris to get in w/her artwork but comes home pregnant and different. Only Landon a firefighter who has loved her forever believes in her and her son Cole. Ashley only begins to feel good aobut herself when she work in a small Alzheimer foster care home. Luke the only & youngest son is in love w/Reagn. They visit her dad in the Twin Towers & Luke dreams that one day he will work along side of Tom. But the...more
I'm enjoying the characters in this series but some things bug me. Like the fact that the little girl has been having unexplained fevers for over a year now and neither of her doctor parents nor her doctor grandfather has had her in for testing. Believable? NOT! And the way you just sort of get strung along on some of the storylines. A good series has books that you can pick up in any order and get something out of.

I like to read a series because I feel connected to the characters. i enjoy Karen Kingsbury but by book two I began to get a bit bored. The storyline slows and has moments that causes a lack of interest in me.
I do like how Karen continues with real life issues and i still like the Baxter family. I made it through book two but it is a book I would read when in the "mood" to read. There are phases in my life when I read for recreation....but have to have something to "get into"...this is not one o...more

When I picked up Remember, I never expected to get so attached to the characters and this family. I cried with them, laughed with them, rejoiced with them and mourned with them.
The entire Redemption and First Born series are two of my ultimate favorites that I have read and re-read. I have recommended these books more times than I can count!

Remember is the second book in Karen Kingsbury’s Redemption series. This one follows another Baxter daughter, Ashley. Ashley feels like a black sheep with her family and feels she might never fit in. Her troubled past leads her to believe that she isn’t worthy of God’s forgiveness either. Her past decisions have hardened her heart and she hopes that by taking a new job, taking care of Alzheimer’s patients, her heart will soften and perhaps she’ll be able to love again and receive love from other...more

Wow, I've never a had a book impact so much emotionally. The title is so perfect in so many ways. It's about so much more than 9-11. It's about remembering your first love, remembering your youth and the good things in life, remembering to care and to live in the moment rather than protect your heart from pain because you never know what tomorrow will bring, remembering God and the big picture, remembering that only God can heal our heart and love us the way we need to be loved. I cried so many...more
The second in a nice series about a Christian family with 5 children. Each book in the series focuses more on one of the 5 adult children, while continuing the stories of the other siblings. Nice books about marriage and family relationships. This one is about Ashley and involves her work with Alzheimer patients. As with the other book in the series, it deals also with repentance and forgiveness and the Atonement of Christ. Not LDS, but a good clean book that I can recommend without fear.
I've spent the last few years reading all of Karen Kingsbury's books, except for the Baxter series...which is now 3 different series, I believe. The copyright of this book is 2003, which caused me to be amazed that I still have to wait for these books to come in at the library because others are requesting them as well.

This book is appropriately named. I can relate to each of Baxter's in one way or another and it really is bringing about a positive change in my life. They are supportive and strengthening. I need to read them about every two years (just long enough to forget the story line and lessons learned because I will need to be reminded and the themes reinforced). It was an excellent read !! Hightly recommend this series. I can't wait until the next one - which I'm going to start NOW !!
Didn't realize this was of Christian novel genre when I picked it up and generally wouldn't have given it a second look. There is an interesting possibility in developing the Baxter family characters, unfortunately it
doesn't happen. It reads like a soap opera and provided a "jelly read" (your mind turns to jelly if you read too many of these). Evidently part of a series, but have no intention of reading any more of the series. I've struck out twice on latest reads.

Karen Kingsbury is an amazing author, this book is so good and so inspirational I loved it !
I recommend it to everyone.
the things that she writes about in these books are things that can happen to anyone
and she basically says in every event that things always happen for a reason, the only way you'd know what I'm saying is reading it for your self, it's just an amazing book.
these books have changed my life in such an amazing way. read it ! :)

This is the second book of a series, but the library was out of book one so I braved it with book 2. You really do not need to have read book 1 as they sum up what happened to the character that continues into book 2. This story follows the Baxter family through the end of the year 2001, right over 9/11 and how it affected them even in Indiana. The story line is realistic for each family member but vastly different. Kari and Ashley rekindle old loves while Luke and Erin struggle with or lose the...more
I really like this book. For me, this book contains a nice twist in it. That, in all of sudden the family's golden boy abandoned all the values that was taught to him.
I also like the message that its sending, that remembering memories can give the greatest healing. In this book, it showed that everything happens for a reason, and God have a plan for all of us. It also showcases the fact even a heart of stone will soften eventually.

I really like this series, of course this is only the 2nd book I have read. I liked the story overall. I appreciated that the 1st book gave hints and laid basic groundwork for upcoming books, but this book seemed to go further, causing it to appear jumpy at times. I also felt the ending was a let down. I definately plan to read more, likely the whole series, and have recommended it to others.
