Meggie and her family move to Willow Run, MI from Rockaway Beach where her parents work in a bomber factory. Her brother, Eddie joined up and is M.I.A. after Normandy. She makes new friends, and realizes that while this is a worse situation for her, it's a better situation for others. This is really more of a mood piece than a "story" although it for sure has a plot. A good war story for young girls.

This book follows the story of Meggie Dillon, whom readers were first introduced to in Giff's book "Lily's Crossing." While Lily spends World War II in their neighborhood in Rockaway, New York, Meggie moves with her parents to Willow Run, Michigan, where her father has gotten a job at Henry Ford's enormous factory manufacturing planes for the War effort. Meggie's having a hard enough time adjusting to being the only child, as her beloved older brother Edward has joined the army & is st

Willow Run is a place in Michigan. It is the place where Meggie and her family move to help America win the war (WW II). Willow Run is also the name of this book, which is part 2 to the story "Lily's Crossing". So read Lily's Crossing first before you read Willow Run. I enjoyed it very much. I just want to KNOW though how things ended up---of course we won the war! But I want more details. It's not terrible that we don't know everything, it just bugs me not to know! I guess I wi

Patricia Reilly Giff really is a master at painting a realistic historical background, and taking readers back in time a few years. My mother would have been only slightly older than Meggie during World War II, so I was able to envision what parts of her childhood were like.
They may not be flashy, but historical fiction titles by Patricia Reilly Giff are trustworthy, heartfelt, and solid.

This is the companion story to Lily's Crossing, but told from Meggie's point of view as she leaves Rockaway for Michigan. It paints a true picture of what life was like for a young girl caught up in the midst of World War II as Meggie's father works in a factory that builds fighter planes. Meggie forges some unforgettable friendships and discovers new traits about herself.

I finished this book on a cliff-hanger and that is SO annoying for me! I loved a lot of things about this book, one of the things I loved was there is a real T.V. that we can watch today and that is bugs bunny. the other thing I loved about this book is the main character that tells the story is a girl me age, so it is easy for me to relate to her. Over all I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good! It's about a girl who's brother is at war during World War 2, (I don't think I can do Roman Numerals on my keyboard) and how pwople think her Grandpa is a spy. I havn't read it in a bit but I remember loving it!

WW II family moves to Michigan to work in a tank factory. Lightweight story of German-American grandfather kids from the sticks, and a brother who is MIA. Good description of time and character.

This book is so lame and almost plotless (new word). The idea of a book about WW2 set in Michigan was the reason I picked it up, but it turned out to be 30 minutes of being bored...

I thought this was a good book for the most part. It didn't have me jumping up and down but it wasn't bad. I thought the author could have made it a little more fascinating.

This book takes place in rural America during WW2. About a girl named Meggie and her family. It ended to quick needed more. But it was a good story.

Irritating that we never find out what happens to Eddie but I guess that helps make the book feel more real since there were many many families that never found out what happened to a loved one. Overall I thought it was a good book though.
