This is not a good self-help book, contrary to what it's title suggests. Larry King takes his experience in radio and tv presentation, derives lessons that he himself learnt from them and presents them to the reader. As a result, "How-tos" are not presented in a very clear chronological way but rather a-la Aesop's fables. It's got a stronger bent towards how to do public speaking , be it speaking to large crowds or on tv/radio because that's where his experience lies. For the layman, i...more

halah...
kayak baca buku sejenis the secret, bepikir dan berjiwa besar... buku-buku how-to gaya amrik itu.
ecpet selesai bacanya!
eh,
ntar dulu.
rupanya emang gini gaya penulisannya, membikin lancar seperti orang bertutur.
rupanya, untuk memetik manfaat, para pembaca memang perlu...more

So I listened to an abridged audio version of this book while traveling last weekend. I really enjoyed it. Larry King discusses his start in the communications business - and all that he has learned about communicating in his many years since. Things I remember most . . . I was struck with a little bit of envy - thinking about all the people he has interviewed and learned from - presidents, sports stars, business executives, etc . . . what a fascinating job that must be. He said that he alwa...more

Very conservative, very classical. Something you'd like to read if you'd like the same type of a career. You won't use it in casual life.

Larry King shares a lot of stories from his early days in radio and television in this book. It's a great read!

I read about 25% of this book and would not recommend it. I was expecting Larry King to teach "How to Talk to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere," and instead I read story after story of how to pat yourself on the back if you're Larry King, for being able to talk to people. The pages dripped of ego, and I couldn't bring myself to continue to see if lessons could be learned on the subject matter.

A fun book from the king of talk, Larry King himself. I'm not sure my communication skills improved much (how can they improve when they are at perfection...har, har), but I didn't spend much time working on them. I enjoyed it, and it was an entertaining and enlightening book.

Larry King advice on becoming a good speaker and conversationalist.

Nothing that revolutionary or new but works as a basic and simply book on the subject. Some of the stories he tells are better than the advice, particularly the one about betting on a fixed horse race.

I picked this book up from the Library because I liked the title. I thought it was pretty basic information though and his experiences are a bit dated now. Most of the book is also geared toward public speaking and business commmunications...not as applicable to me.

recommends it for: people who lack of communications;)
Communication...and interpretation, the two most essential 'tools' for survival:) Larry's experiences could be adopted into our daily life, but in certain circumstances, our communication itself should be handle properly according to the cultures of "where & who".

Not bad, though I thought it was more blablabla than anything and to tell you the truth, I couldn't buy the examples he gave, they just look too perfect for what he was saying, is it a coincidence? but all in all, there is some good advice in the book

never mind advices from a Larry King (his real name is Zeiger btw) his takeaways of his guests are more fun: his worst ones are Anita Bryant who can't stop talking about religions (zealots are the worst), and Bob Hope, who always respond with a gag.
