Emily's picture in a saucy outfit is posted on her boyfriends Declan's website. She immediately dumps him and moves in with her best mate from college, Cara. Cara is very new age-y and for some reason works at a local newspaper with Adam, who she falls for. Emily's life gets turned upside down when Cara's paper runs with the story of a local women "posing" for the internet and she is ruined. I read "For Better, For Worse," first and didn't really like it. The ending was cheesy, Matt did not deserve Josie, and just missing each other in every scene by seconds got annoying. Although, there are a lot of similarities between "Bare Necessity" and "For Better, For Worse," (missing each other, the author's need to be "humorous" in every other sentence) I enjoyed this novel a lot more.

This book is not one of the best Matthews has written. I found I did not care much for any of the characters. The men did not stand out - nothing to get excited about. The women were boring. It was a light, quick read. Not very funny, not very creative, not very memorable. I still think The Chocolate Lovers' Club is Matthews best - but I am going to keep reading her in hopes of finding another gem.

Felt the writer started with interesting characters but changed them too dramatically as the story went along. Didn't like that by end every person had basically sold out or betrayed their own ideals or a close friend. And the men in the story were weak characters.

A silly fun book about another girl who has her heart broken by her guy and how her best friend helps her through her misfortune. Declan, the boyfriend, has staked everything...home, savings...on his dot.coms that are going belly up save for the soft porn site that he used Emily's saucy photo on, without Emily's knowledge. Things bust open when Emily discovers her "bum" on the Internet...she even loses her job as a school teacher.

This was a quick easy read. The main character's life is turned upside down after her ex-boyfriend puts up an x-rated picture of her on the internet. There were a few LOL moments.

I had the HARDEST time getting through this book and I'm not sure why. The story was good enough, and the writing was fine, but for whatever reason every time I picked it up I seemed to fall asleep. Because of that, I have to rate it "just ok". I wish I could figure out why this book didn't draw me in but I can't for whatever reason.

Not as good as some chick lit and quite easy to see where the story was leading, but still funny and an easy holiday read.

Not bad in general, given the genre. Mostly an escapist tale, better written than some.

Typical fluff book - didn't like this one, totally predictable with a cheesy ending

I bought this on recommendation from Amazon (yes, another one!) and because Carole Matthew's is a reliably good chick-lit author...was a bit surprised that it was first published in 2001 and it's a bit dated due to that. This is shown though the horror that her photos are actually on the internet (welcome to the world of facebook et al in 2009!) and the national publicity this creates (wouldn't touch now!) also has a couple of references to Tony Blair! However, as usual it's well written with

This was a light read that helped me get back into reading after a long break. I had some personal upheaval in my life and the book's main character did too, so I related to her immediately. The book doesn't take itself too seriously.
Though I have read others by Ms. Matthews hoping that they would be as good, this one still clearly stands out as the best.

I really liked this book! Towards the end you find yourself screaming at the book but it was a great. Of course I only picked it up because the cover looked like a chick lit novel, and the summary seemed to roll a life's worth of problems into 372 pages. But overall I was very happy about the outcome of the novel and would recommend this book to anyone who needs a book to get lost in.

Chicklit, through and through.
Takes place in London.
NOT a romance. Much less corny than a romance.
Still, predictable.
But a fun read. Definitely a trashy novel, that I liked. Would be good vacation, beach, or burnt-out reading.

Ok, so this is completely UNREALISTIC...but still a good piece of chick-lit if you're looking to escape from the world for a bit. My cuz lent this one to me. I have just lent it to Marisa. Let's see what she thinks.... :-)

this book was a waste of time really. Totally cheesy ending, very predictable. I had a hard time getting through it because it just couldn't keep my attention for long. Not of one her best for sure.

Good book. I liked it. The beginning of the book I think is the best. The ending, and I am sure those of you who read this book will agree was not expected.

I "liked" this book so much I didn't bring it back from vacation. I like Carol Matthews but she was scrapping the bottom of the barrel with this one.

Great fun, as all of Carole's books are. I'm not a romantic fiction fan, but make an exception for these. I've read most of her books.
