The Stephanie Plum series is one of my favorite contemporary storylines in the novel world. It's been a couple years since I read the rest of the books, and I was a little worried that after all that time had passed, I'd be disappointed, or find that I didn't like it as much as I used to.

These books are still great, and even though I don't remember alot of details from the other ones, it's not hard to pick right up where you left off. Evanovich gives enough references to keep you from feeli...more

From a blog post I wrote in 2006:

I readily admit my OCD tendencies and one of the stronger ones is that I hate putting a good book down until it's done.

Twelve Sharp is a good book.

I started reading around 10:30 last night and finished up around 1:30 this morning. I did look at the clock several times and contemplated going to sleep but sleep was not nearly as compelling as finishing the book.

Sometimes, series tend to get old and the characters stale. Not so in this series. Stepha...more

First, I would like to say that a. I did not purchase this book b. I am suffering from jet lag induced insomnia and c. as a result of this insomnia I wasn't up to anything super intellectual at 4 AM so I thought I'd try the book my mom got for free at her company picnic in July.

Obviously I wasn't thinking properly, period.

I saw how bad this book was by page two (gratuitous descriptions of characters? CHECK over exposition CHECK fantastical plot/characters? CHECK) but kept going. I figure...more

As with any book, know what you are getting into and set your expectations accordingly... These are not world in peril stories unless your world is Trenton, NJ and you are Stephanie Plum. These books are funny - laugh out loud hilarious at times. If you are looking for high drama - look elsewhere...

"Just go away," Pickle said. "I have big problems. I'm a pervert." This isn't the best line of the book, but a random sampling... just open the book to any page and you c...more

Again, I have only chosen one of the Janet Evanovich/Stephanie Plum mysteries to put here so as not to clog the shelf with all of her stuff. If you want to read some funny shit with fantastic characters and totally outrageous scenarios that only get crazier, check out Janet Evanovich. Her main character, Stephanie Plum, is an incompetent bounty hunter who is constantly being stalked, getting all kinds of nasty things in her hair, and having her car blown up. She is caught between two men: the...more

The perfect brain candy for a holiday weekend, and a nice reward after some intense weeks of school reading and writing. The Stephanie Plum series makes me laugh out loud - I think that's why I love it so much. (Well, that and the fact that I am Jersey girl who lives just down the road from Trenton.) I only read one of these books a year, and I purposely stay one or two behind the newest release so that if I need a good, funny read to pick me up, I can always turn to one of these books in a p...more

A crazy woman is looking for Stephanie Plum, Ms. Bounty Hunter and every auto insurance company's nightmare. When they come face to face, the woman pulls a gun on Steph and tells her she is looking for her husband Ranger. He, unfortunately, cannot be reached, since he is on some special case in Miami. And the next time Stephanie sees him, he's on the news. He's wanted for kidnapping. And murder.

Another entertaining Plum novel. Same colorful characters, with an addition or two. Lula recruits G...more

I highly recommend going back to the beginning of this series and starting there. I stumbled upon the stephanie plum novels halfway thru the series and wish I had found it sooner. Each addition to the series is a treat....sarcastic witty humor...a heroine that can bumble around and eat consolation donuts but still look herself in the eye in the mirror and kiss hunky mysterious guys when she and her boyfriend are on the outs. LOVE this series....

Long story short, girl works as bounty hunter t...more

My absolute favorite of the series thus far! 12 is a wonderful balance of humor and tension, with a determinedly different plotline. I don't know how she does it, but Evanovich keeps this series fresh and entertaining with every addition.

I'll admit, I'm getting a bit tired of the Ranger-or-Joe debate. Mostly because I've never been a girl who loves the bad boys, so the attraction of bad-boy-Ranger does not entice - for me, it really isn't a question. Because I'm tiring of the "who w...more

As part of the series, another awesome book.

Stephanie is a great main character. Strong without wanting to be, brave when she doesn't feel it, she deals with everything the only way she knows how. And you can't stop laughing!

The heat between her and Ranger is still there - as well as with Joe. Who would you pick? Cause I can choose either, LOL!

The plot was excellent, each scene it's own but blends in with the rest. So much laughter, and Evanovich knows how to write it so you get a cl...more

In my experience, mystery series tend to get bogged down round about the twelfth book in the series. I'm happy to report that such is not the case with Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum.

Things could get a little dull by the time you've made it through a dozen books, but Twelve Sharp is riddled with the humor, excitement, and lust that we've come to expect -- and love -- in a Stephanie Plum book. All the favorites are back (Grandma Mazur, Lula, Connie, Ranger, Joe and Bob) plus some new frien...more

Guilty pleasure. No brainer - just a likeable character in unlikely situations. Gun hating, gum smacking, sassy but clutzy female bounty hunter. Side kicks include nutty grandmother and ex-prostitute get into crazy situations. Witty dialog, with a love triangle between her cop-boyfriend and mysterious fellow bounty hunter Ranger. This will have you giggling out loud. Good beach read and happy endings. Have read all in series - looking forward to #13. I'm on the waitlist from the public libr...more

Hmm... I was a little disappointed. Though Lula was her usual hilarious self, the main plotline seemed pretty serious for a Plum book. I was hoping for more cheez-tastic fun. And what's up with no cars getting destroyed??? It was explained to me that the cars were actually representative of Evanovich's own daughter's destructive car habits—but since there have been no car traumas in her daughter's life, there were none for Stephanie Plum either. Sigh... I miss destructo-car.

I like the Stephanie Plum series. I couldn't remember whether I had read this one before. And I still couldn't remember as I was reading it. I think I must have, because several scenes were very familiar. Give me a break, it's been a couple of years. The good news is that it was worth re-reading. There is usually at least one laugh-out-loud scene in each book. And now off to the library, where book thirteen (which I KNOW I haven't read before) is waiting for me.

I finally got around to reading this, after taking a really long break from the series. This book is more of the same, and nothing different. If you have enjoyed the series up through book eleven, you'll probably get a kick out of this one, too. I find it's best not to power your way through the series too quickly, as you'll find out just how similar each book is to the other. But brainless fun, good for a plane ride, which is why I finally decided to give it a go.

I love the Stephanie Plum series, and this book was the best of the series so far (I haven't read Lean Mean 13 yet.). It really made the relationship between Stephanie and Ranger more human and relatable, instead of just blind stupid lust, and showed a different side of his character. The ending had me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely enjoyed this book, and recommend it to anyone looking for a good, fun, exciting read any time of the year.

I love these books, the worst part is that I'm getting to the end of the series, and I feel that I will not be able to go back after all the things that we know know. Stephanie is awesome as usual in this round. She seems to be getting better at her job. Her love life is still not in order, or is it? The key to this series is that you really must read them all, don't skip around it won't be as exciting or as funny. She makes me laugh out loud.

Ranger needs Stephanie for more reasons than he can say. And now, the two are working together to find a killer, rescue a missing child, and stop a lunatic from raising the body count. When Stephanie Plum and Ranger get too close for comfort, Vice Cop Joe Morelli (her on-again, off-again boyfriend) steps in.

Will the ticking clock stop at the stroke of twelve, or will a stranger in the wind find a way to stop Stephanie Plum... forever.
