not my favorite of the tess series, i think because . . . i don't really know. this is more about the history of baltimore, which i thought i would be more into, but i think it's because the secondary characters weren't as strong as they usually are. i wanted more crow and whitney and tyner and kitty and uncle donald and SPIKE, who is apparently in boca, which makes me sad.
though this book brought back cecilia, had a little hate-crimes spin, and a DOBERMAN. i want a miata for myself. i hope...more

This was my first Laura Lippman and I liked it very much. Tess Monaghan is a good addition to the female PI genre. I find series books tend to get boring after a while (Tony Hillerman excepted) because the main character doesn't change. I hope that doesn't hold true for Tess.

Loved the fact a librarian was one of the main characters in this mystery taking place in Baltimore. Fun read.

The convoluted and somewhat pointless plotting here wasn't up to Laura Lippman's usual standards, but Tess Monaghan is still one of my favorite fictional detectives. Read it to keep up on Tess's story arc.

This Tess Monaghan book had a lot of info on Edgar Allan Poe. Another good mystery!

Rich in Baltimore history and populated with true characters, but the mystery is a little bit disjointed compared to Lippman's other work.

Good read with a little history of Edgar Alan Poe thrown in. Enjoy reading books that are set in my home of Baltimore and Maryland

I didn't like this one as much as the others. I don't really want anyone to solve the mystery of the Visitor, not even fictionally.
