This isn't the best read in the world, but I find it utterly fascinating. This book is written by a couple who saw a jaguar in Arizona in the mid 90s, over 50 years after the last confirmed sighting in the U.S.; at one time the big cats' range extended into Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana, but they were pretty much hunted out of existence in the States by the 1940s. Quick easy read about a facinating animal. The story the authors relate about an accidental encounter with a jaguar that led to 20 years of jaguar conservation and study is equally fascinating. I live just North of the area the jaguar has been spotted and have hunted and camped throughout the area. I hope I will someday sight a jaguar
