I liked this compilation better than the previous one. Still the same author, but still different artists. It is interesting to read about Reed and his quartet as they attempt to expand the reach and breadth of known science. It is composed of three separate story lines in one volume.

Why don't I like the Fantastic Four? I've been scritching and a-scratchin' my head trying to think it over. The blame can't be entirely on the artists because I wasn't even into the cartoon growing up. Let's not even begin on the movies.

This hardcover pays off the long-running cosmic cube subplot, and it's well worth a read. The collection includes three stories: First, Reed Richards tries to find a power source for his cube and accidentally selects the Silver Surfer (or "Silver Searcher" in his Ultimate Universe appearance). Mayhem ensues, along with dependably beautiful Ferry artwork (although, to be honest, I don't think he presented facial expressions very well in this arc - but he does an amazing metallic Surfer, maybe my ...more
