Quote for this book: "some who do - can't teach".
First off, Hellmuth is an accomplished player. I have no doubt that he can play the game, and very well. What I question in this book is his ability to teach.
Hellmuth presents some general principles: his top 10 hands, his intermediate play hands, and the less strong, advanced player hands. A general frame-work for sizing up your pocket cards. Very helpful.

This is an adequate book. It provides basic Hold'em principles and teaches some fundamental aspects of the game's strategy. The book is focused on limit cash games. Being a tournament player, and given that Hellmuth's success is in the tournament realm, I would have liked him to focus more on NLH tournaments. All in all, though, the book is a worthwhile purchase for a beginning poker player given the great bang for the buck it provide.
Easily the worst poker book ever written. The central message? Phil Hellmuth is very, very smart; you on the other hand are very, very dumb and should play accordingly.
Good introduction, doesn't go into a lot of detail about strategy but gives a fair amount of examples, which is useful.
I'm enjoying but have been watching Phil on Poker after dark (just happens he was on this week) and he doesn't seem to be following his own teachings. be interesting to see how he finishes up.
He is an 11x bracelet winner though so he must know something

Phil's got some good concepts to consider.
