I loved this book.

Really, I don't get why people say that you could skip the first two books in the series and it wouldn't matter. This first 2 books may not be as good as the rest but IMHO they are still worth of being read. The first one was good, but this one was awesome. I know that this will be another series to add to my favs list soon. I'm not adding this book to that list, but if the rest of the books in the series are even better than this one they'll end up there because this one almo

I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. After reading the first one and being underwhelmed by the time travel aspect, I assumed this one would be much the same, however, in my opinion, this book is much better than the first. With the exception of the mention of a few characters from the first book in the series, To Tame a Highland Warrior can easily be read as a standalone novel.

Why did this one work for me? Well, no time travel, for one thing. Another important factor is the

To Tame a Highland Warrior -

The second book in this series, I have to say was maybe a little better than the first. I loved the berserker aspect. I thought it was HAWT, but I wish he used his berserker just a little more. I didn’t even see Grim portrayed as anything than a butler in the first book so I was completely taken off guard when it was revealed he was a berserker.

So Grimm turned Berserker at a very young age and with a huge fear of hurting the on

I’ve become quite a big Moning fan since I read the Fever series, and so reading her Highlander series, I had high expectations. And while Beyond the Highlander Mist wasn’t exactly my favourite Highlander historical, I found that To Tame a Highland Warrior was an improvement.

I LOVED the heroine, Jillian! I loved the fact that she was a headstrong female and was aware of her feelings for Grimm from the very beginning. Despite the fact that she gets easily infuriated by Grimm’s less-than-roman

This is a re-read for me. I love Karen Marie Moning, and I credit Monica McCarty for pointing me in her direction!
This is a great romance. Grimm is a Berserker, but is ashamed of it-he has no idea that it is a family trait passed down to him, and he should be proud of it! Instead, he believes that he watched his father murder his mother, and then the enemy of his clan slaughtered everyone in his clan-he then called on the legend of the Bereserker to help him defeat the enemy. Really his Berserke

A re-read (listened to audiobook). A fun installment in the series, and I remember absolutely loving it the first time I read it a few years ago, but after re-reading books 4-7 last month (Kiss, Dark, Immortal and Spell), this one just didn't seam to be able to compare. Still, a really fun and sexy highlander story.
In the second installment of the KM Moning Highlander series, we focus on the story of Gavreal "Grimm" Roderick. As a young boy, he witnessed the destruction of his people by the enemy McKane clan. When, in the midst of his rage, Gavreal calls on the mythic power of the Berserker, he becomes a warrior without equal. Both feared and worshipped, the Berserker has extra-ordinary powers, but the price is almost uncontrollable violence and rage. To escape this legacy, Gavreal leaves his home and neve ...more

The first time I did the "skim" on this book and wasn't too interested in reading it completely, and now I realize I was probably just taking a nose-dive on the series as a whole after starting it at "The Kiss of the Highlander," an absolute favorite. After KOTH, I read through the end of the series, went back and read "The Highlander's Touch," which was just "okay" for me. Then read "Beyond the Highland Mis

Karen Marie Moning writes a floorless romance.

This is the second book I have read in this series and on both occasions I have been gobsmacked at how perfectly proportioned they are.

The drama, suspense and romance are all extremely well balanced that I was left in a constant need for more.

The sex scenes are written without explicit detail giving it a more romantic feel and aren’t a big part of the story – concentrating more on the emotional love instead of the physical.

Karen also seems to have

I'm glad I read this series out of order (these books can be read out of order). I'm honestly not sure if would have continued the series had I read the first three books in the series first. Personally, I don't think the series was particularly engrossing until after the third book. Books four, five, and six are my favorite, with book six, The Immortal Highlander, my favorite of the series. You must, however, read books four, five, six, and seven in order.

You know, even this (in general)loather of Historical Romance... I like these books! I think it's because as P.A. Lupton put it (I'm paraphrasing here) it's not about the timeperiod as the focus - the romance and the characters are the focus. It just happens to take place in the 16th century (I think- don't quote me on that date.) So I don't have to deal with the idiocyncracies of the day-to-day life of that age, or the 'expected' way to treat a woman (these woman are VERY independant and much m ...more

Too much pondering and filler. If a few people would talk to each other truthfully there would be no story.

Grimm is a berserker. When he sees blood, he turns into a super warrior – stronger and faster than others. His wounds heal magically. It is close to impossible to kill him. His father is a berserker, it’s inherited by males. The McCanes have hated the McIlliochs for generations. When Grimm was 14 he had not yet been told he was a berserker. At that time the McCanes attacked his

Grimm with a sad past...

Gets saved by a beautiful girl when he is 14 years old - Jillian St Claire. But his past haunts him and he must leave her behind as he thinks that is the best way to keep her safe. Stubborn ass! I never wanted to throttle a man more than Grimm. For a man who raised himself from a "wee lad" into a true bad ass
I'll be very honest upfront, that I much prefer KMM's Fever series than this Highlander series. Perhaps it may have to do with the fact that the two series are slight different genres - Fever is more UF while Highlander is more PNR, and I'm usually more of an UF fan... Anyway, I still thought that this was an easy read.

Sometimes I thought the stubbornness of Jillian, the female lead, was actually quite funny. Her initial interactions with Grimm were always bickering and bantering, but meanwhile
This book was ok like the first one. It's more of a 3.5 stars than a 4. It's a bit ho-hum in terms of highlander stories. The writing is not always "historical" which takes away from the historical feel and the stories aren't all that original. Several people say it's a fantastic series so I'm hoping they'll get better.
An engrossing read for all Paranormal Romance lovers.
I've been a huge fan of Karen Marie Moning for the last few years and each time I find a novel by her that I haven't read, I immediately pick it up. I happened to miss this one, so I knew I had to read it asap.

'To Tame a Highland Warrior' is the second installment in the sexy 'Highlander' series by Karen Marie Moning. My first KMM novel was 'Darkfever', which is a different series than this, but the worlds do connect from time to time. Once I
Turned berserker at a young age- Grimm Roderick managed to avoid any firm emotional attachment for years for fear of him hurting the ones he loves while in a rage. Called back to the place that he called home after leaving his birthright- his only reason for returning now is to keep a vow he made to a man who raised him as son. Well that and the fact he couldn’t resist seeing the laird’s beautiful daughter just one more time- and ensure her safety.

But once there he did his best to avoid her, bec

In the second installment of The Highlander Series, the reader picks back up with Hawk and Adrienne and Grimm. Grimm is notified with a letter to "Come for Jillian." He leaves Dalkieth and heads straight for Jillian's home. In the begining, Jillian is really cold toward Grimm, but soon realizes she is in love with him. Grimm too is in love with Jillian too, but fears he needs to protect her from himself above all else, so he pushes her away. HA, and pushes, and pushes. This games goes on forever ...more

Grimm is a complicated character with a harsh past. Being a Berserker seems to be a hard and lonely life until he realizes that Jillian is his one true mate, and he will not hurt her. As children Grimm and Jillian met and secretly fell in love without the other knowing. Things in Grimm's past aren't what they seemed, and he has more family than he realized. It's about time his passion came out. Great read!! Love this series!!

This installment opens a year or so after the events of book one and Grimm Roderick is front and center for his star turn. When a old friend sends a not so cryptic message to save Jillian, Grimm is on his way in no time flat. Unknown to either of them, Grimm is to be one of three suitors for the hand of the only woman that he has ever wanted and the only one that soothes him, Jillian St. Clair. Thus begins the quick unraveling of Grimm's very secret and very violent past. Neither Grimm nor Jilli ...more

Och! Every time a read a book about Scottish men, I just have an urge to fly there immediately and experience them for myself. They are just sexy in a way I can't even explain. Ok, anyway, I liked this book. Not too surprising, it was pretty much a straight forward HEA type of novel, but enjoyable all the same.

Grimm, the hero was plagued by a past and a heritage he didn't understand. He must learn to trust himself, his friends, his family and his love.

I like a strong heroine and Jullian St. Cl

I must start out by saying that my husband picked up this book and the 3rd book of the series from the library for me. He also had it in his head that I was reading about McCloud highlanders. HAHS! Right.... "There can only be ONE!" lolz.... After I fell off the couch and laughed at him he learned that there are romance novels about highlanders out there. Where has he been? and he he not been paying attention to me? LOLz!

Let's see... the 2nd book is about GRIMM. We meet him in the first book and
I read the first book in the Highlander series and then stopped. From what I remember, it was slow-moving and it just didn't catch my attention. This second book was entirely different. I couldn't put it down. I relished in the relationship between Grimm and Jillian at first. I'm sorry, but I just love when they hate each other (and have been hating each other for 15 years!). But alas, it doesn't really end up to be "hate" does it--of course not. There's an interesting back-story with Grimm too, ...more
I feel like I always write how much I enjoy reading a book and fear nobody will believe what I am saying is true. Maybe I am just easy to please, but this was another book that I really liked.
I was sort of sad that Adam wasn't in there, I am hoping he will appear in the next one maybe??
Anyway, this was my first book with a Berserker(so cool), well I think it was, maybe there was one in Kresley Coles Immortal After Dark series I can't remember, however Grimm was definitely very cool.
I do so love
These books are the written form of crack. They offer no mental value, but provide a fix for whatever lapse in judgment prompts us to seek out such things - I blame my ovaries. Sometimes, a lady just needs to swoon by reading about fictional highlanders who worship the woman who loves him in a way I feel no flesh and blood man does/would. The story isn't half bad either. In fact, I much preferred this installment to the Highlander series to those that come after (keep in mind, you do not have to ...more
