I only bought it for reasons that are obvious to my friends.

It didn't really pertain to the issues I have/ had with my life. I thought that I might be able to pick up some financial tips at least, but in my opinion that was rather lacking as well.

This would make an ok gift for someone who is starting to work, like maybe a sweet sixteen book gift, or for someone who will be going off to college.

People need to get this book before / soon after they get started, not after they have already estab

An overall solid advice-giver to those individuals in their 20-somethings who are going out into the world for the first time. I found a lot of the advice very practical and will recommend the book to others in this age group. I feel the book can be used as a reference to, so it's a good one to keep around. I took away one star because I am a nerd and I like reading about financial advice. The financial advice I read it this one was just the basic stuff, so I wanted more. But most people would p ...more

I wasn't incredibly excited to read this book, but something about it really pulled me in and I was able to read/skim all 300 pages or so in a day. The Quarterlifer's Companion covers nearly every aspect of life that a twentysomething will encounter... and all the options that we have. For the most part thats what makes this book great, but it also means that not every part will be relevant to your unique situation and it can only cover the surface of each issue. All in all, I felt that this boo ...more

Recommends it for: anyone who graduated from college from 2004-2007

I'm not big on the self-help genre, but I picked this up off the store shelf and was immediately engrossed. Some of the advice is helpful, some is lame, what I take from it is the knowledge that there are a lot of other 20-somethings out there questioning the soul-sucking existence of adult life. A great kick in the pants that helped me realize hand-holding is over.

I would give this book to any new grad (although what I actually gave my sister was The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke, which I stand by). It's a comprehensive toolbox for your first year or two out of college.

maybe this is a good book for a college graduate to receive if they are SUPER clueless about what being in your 20s and being a grown-up entails. not so helpful if you are already out of college and been doing the grown-up thing for a bit.

one good tip from the book: spend your money on experiences and not so much on materialistic things.

i waited in two drs offices today. i read this entire book. maybe if you were 22, this would be more useful, but it still had many funny anecdotes and links.
