HIDDEN AGENDAS is part of Lora Leigh's Tempting Seals/Elite Ops series which I'm a huge fan of. As Usual Lora Leigh's bedroom scenes are some of the hottest you'll read and wow can she write a delicious alpha-male hero. HIDDEN AGENDAS is part of Lora Leigh's Tempting Seals/Elite Ops series which I'm a huge fan of. As Usual Lora Leigh's bedroom scenes are some of the hottest you'll read and wow can she write a delicious alpha-male hero. Her descriptions of these muscular, testosterone filled, bulge in the jeans men are yummy. For some reason though this book just never really caught my attention. Kell and Emily as our H/h felt flat to me and the storyline and love scenes were somewhat repetitive. I did however enjoy both the sexy beginning and the exciting ending but had trouble getting into the bulk of this story.

As usual with Lora Leigh you have to put up with repeated sentences, missing words and sloppy editing and if she'd only get herself an editor this book could have been way better. This has been a constant complaint with the series and it's frustrating. I found myself regularly re-reading paragraphs or getting annoyed by a character saying the same thing just phrased differently. Which doesn't allow the story to flow as it should. 3.5 stars

In a very erotic opening we find the Senators daughter, Emily Stanton evading her latest bodyguard and taking dance lessons in a strip club as research for her book. Lieutenant Kell Kreiger who has secretly been watching over her for years manages to talk his way into receiving her first lap dance. This is one hot scene. Ironically Durango team is then assigned to personally protect the Senator and his daughter, with Kell posing as Emily's lover until they can flush out a spy. Someone has been feeding information to the evil drug lord Diego Fuentes and he has plans to kidnap her.

Emily suffers from spoiled little rich girl syndrome and because of her over protective father has led a sheltered life except for those times when she manages to evade her bodyguards and get herself into trouble. The problem now is she can't evade Kell and isn't sure if she really wants to. Kell falls in love with the spunky Emily very quickly and although he wants to marry her he can't even tell her how he feels. He will first have to come to terms with a tragedy from his past so that he can give himself to her wholly.

I had a bit of trouble here with Emily's status as a virgin but Kell's sexy Cajun accent whenever he got turned on allowed me to overlook this. Although Emily's constant fights with her father were still overdone and boring. Kell and the team escort Emily to several society parties where we meet some potential mole suspects. They even manage to have steamy sex in a limo before Fuentes and his spies eventually kidnap her. Will Kell be able to rescue her in time? And who's that drugged and naked Navy Seal locked in the cell with her?

Even though I was somewhat disappointed with this particular instalment it's still a necessary part of a great series and I think it could also be read as a stand alone. It was good to hear from my favourite Seal, Nathan again and finally get some back story on him. I also really enjoyed Ian and Kira as secondary characters and look forward to their story next in Killer Secrets.

As much as I enjoyed Dangerous Games, I think I enjoyed this one a bit more. It was a little more solid on the suspense side of things, but still fairly hot - though maybe not as erotic as Dangerous Games (which is a little disappointing).

Emily was a great heroine to read. I really enjoyed her a lot. She's got this innocent, naive sheen to her, but underneath, she's a total bad-ass. That amused me to no end. I loved all her antics, and the fact that she didn't cower and hide when...more

He also has been secretly lusting for Emily since she was a teenager. Up until now, the Senator had not assigned Kell to Emily’s guard duty. Perhaps he knew the two had secret feelings for each other, and he wasn’t comfortable. Yet. Now they’ve received Intel that Emily’s life is in danger again. The same drug lord has ordered her assassination. Her father orders Kell to guard her, only this time he is supposed to live with her and pretend they are a couple. Kell could not be more pleased. He’s is salivating just thinking about her.

I felt for Emily in this book. She has to live her life surrounded by controlling men. Her father treats her like a child and she is 25 years old. She turns out to be a very strong woman, who can certainly take care of herself. She is mortified when she finds out daddy hired Kell. She’s been in love him so long, she doesn’t think she can take being around him. Also, he’s just another alpha male she’ll have to answer to.

There is some good suspense with the danger of her pursuers. I liked the other Seals that sure to be getting their own books, Nathan and Ian.

There is a very early scene in a strip club when Kell and Emily see each other for the first time. Emily doesn’t know it’s him because he is wearing dark glasses. I love how it plays out. Highly recommended.

This book does have frequent and descriptive, love scenes. (less)

Wow! I would have to say this one might be the most erotic book in the series so far. Super steamy sex scenes and I just love Kell's Cajun accent that comes out at just the right times ;)

Hidden Agendas by Lora Leigh is the fourth book in her Tempting SEALs series.

Although I know there are more stories in this series, I've only read the two full length novels so far and I've truly enjoyed each one!

The latest, Hidden Agendas, picks up where the last, (Dangerous Games), left off. We see early on that the big bad on the scene, Diego Fuentes, is manipulating things so that he can control one man ... the son that he never knew existed.

A quanto pare, questo è l'anno dei SEALs. Film, libri...ormai sono peggio del prezzemolo. Non che mi lamenti, sia chiaro. Dopo averli richiesti a gran voce per più di un anno, finalmente posso dire di avere l'imbarazzo della scelta.
Ma, chissà perché, il SEAL in italiano non rende bene come quando lo si legge in americano. Sarà che è una figura totalmente estranea alla realtà italiana, sarà che sembra finto come solo un americano sa essere, sarà che la sola parlata straniera dona quel tocco di f...more A quanto pare, questo è l'anno dei SEALs. Ma, chissà perché, il SEAL in italiano non rende bene come quando lo si legge in americano. Sarà che è una figura totalmente estranea alla realtà italiana, sarà che sembra finto come solo un americano sa essere, sarà che la sola parlata straniera dona quel tocco di fascino in più ma, su di me, il SEAL in italiano non ha lo stesso effetto.
Leggendo i romanzi della serie in americano e poi in italiano ho sentito la differenza: non solo la storia non mi ha coinvolta allo stesso modo, ma addirittura i personaggi perdono - quasi - la loro credibilità narrativa.
Siccome stiamo parlando di romance erotici, il livello di complessità è ai minimi termini. La cosa più complessa di fronte a cui ci si può imbattere è il groviglio di membra e lingue e non caratteri ben costruiti e dalle mille sfaccettature.
Quello che intendo con credibilità narrativa è la capacità di uno scrittore - ma a me piace dare la colpa ai personaggi - di saper diventare un modello in cui immedesimarsi a prescindere da chi lo sta leggendo: cioè, se il protagonista è un militare delle forze speciali americane deve dare le stesse sensazioni sia che il lettore sia americano, sia che abiti in - sparo a caso...- Ucraina. Se io, italiana, non riesco a farmi prendere, non riesco a prendere come mia la storia c'è qualcosa che non va. Quando leggo in americano questo non succede. I SEALs della Leigh in lingua originale sono pazzeschi, sono una potenza che stordisce. In italiano hanno lo stesso carisma dei carabinieri delle barzellette. Sarà colpa della traduzione? Maybe, o forse è solo la mia impressione: un SEAL è americano, quindi l'aria che si respira deve essere americana, quindi la lingua è americana. Sono di vedute un pò ristrette, lo ammetto.
A prescindere da questo fatto, la storia è migliore rispetto al primo romanzo, dove il protagonista era una specie di macchina del sesso, talmente fissato da diventare bidimensionale. Il nostro Kell, invece, è più rigido e ha un'atteggiamento nettamente più militare di Clint perché usa il cervello e non si lascia travolgere dall'ormone come un orango in calore.
Kell riesce a unire con fluidità la sua attrazione verso Emily - e successivamente i suoi sentimenti - con il compito impegnativo di farle da guardia del corpo. Prende sul serio entrambe le cose e non si limita ad agire: spara e ammazza, tromba come un matto. Kell punta sull'infiltrazione: farsi accettare, sedurre e poi...Da questo punto di vista il personaggio maschile risulta meno cretino e più apprezzabile, a differenza del maschio infoiato Clint.
Emily è - in un certo senso - come Kell. Anche lei riesce a fondere diversi aspetti del suo carattere senza superare i limiti e sperimenta un vero cambiamento tra l'inizio e la fine del romanzo: con la scusa di Kell che la stuzzica, Emily passa dall'essere figlia di un senatore, traumatizzata e costantemente accudita, all'essere una giovane donna indipendente spronata a trovare la propria strada e a credere nelle proprie capacità.
Come coppia Kell ed Emily sono ben assortiti, anche se la Leigh gioca sempre la carta della storia passata. Praticamente quasi tutte le sue coppie (che io mi ricordi forse anche tutte) si sono conosciute in passato, si conoscono da sempre oppure sono coppie scoppiate. In questo modo può permettersi di saltare a pié pari tutta la seduzione iniziale, compresa la parte in cui due persone imparano a conoscersi. Si salta l'antipasto e si passa al primo. Le piace giocare facile (ponzi ponzi popopò, ponzi ponzi popopò).
Per quanto riguarda la trama, invece, migliora parecchio rispetto al primo. Non solo vengono inseriti diversi elementi veramente suspance - come il rapimento, il richio di rapimento, sparatorie e indagini - ma i due personaggi finalmente vivono un pò d'azione. Ricordo che avevo definito Clint un finto SEAL, di nome ma non di fatto, Kell invece mette in pratica quello che è: protegge, complotta, agisce e - tra le altre cose - coinvolge altri personaggi: Ian, che mi stuzzica parecchio e Macey.
Insomma, in linea di massima posso dire di essere soddisfatta di questo romanzo. Onestamente ho un ricordo migliore della prima lettura in lingua, ma non voglio sgonfiare la bolla di felicità SEAL lamentandomi. Mi adeguo...anche se, Mondadori, VI PREGO IN GINOCCHIO! cancellate l'aggettivo fradicio dal vocabolario dei vostri traduttori. E' agghiacciante!(less)

It's official. I am completely and totally hooked on this series. I LOVED this book!

Emily is a complete riot. I loved her "research" and the fact that she has a hidden wild and adventurous side. I loved that Kell let her embrace that and saw that as a strength in her, not a weakness. The opening scene for this book between the two of them is priceless...completely fresh and HOT!

Emily is tough. She has grown up with her Senator father trying to protect her through a series of bodyguards which he hopes that will one day capture her heart as well as protect her body. Emily has secretly learned how to protect herself through her "research"...she is writing a book, but has used the guise of research to teach herself all sorts of talents, from evasive driving to shooting to lap dancing. She knows what her father is doing with the string of bodyguards, but her heart has always belonged to Kell. She's tough and she's smart. She is definitely my favorite type of heroine!

Kell goes into this assignment accepting the fact that he can't ignore his attraction to Emily any longer. It's time for them to truly connect. He sees how strong she is and how adventurous she is and he embraces that. He loves it when she stands up to her father and those that try to push her. This is an alpha male standing beside his woman loving that she can be just as alpha as him when she needs to be and not trying to change that in the least. Kell's wife and unborn child were murdered 17 years ago, so he very easily could have been written as a character which was totally overbearing and protective as Emily is faced with being murdered or kidnapped, but L. Leigh has instead created a character that understands loss and trusts himself and Emily to keep her safe. He is understandably worried about her, but he doesn't hold her under his thumb trying to keep her safe. He respects her and her choices. I LOVE that!

A great installment to this amazing series. The SEAL part of this series are 3 books (not counting novellas)...this is #2, but overall there are really 9 total books to this series because the Elite Ops series flows right out of this one and, so far, there are 6 books in that series. I cannot wait to read them all...(less)

I'm a big fan of the Breeds series from Lora Leigh so I decided to branch out and read some of her other books. Hidden Agendas is part of her Tempting SEALS series, and while this book had all the spice and sizzle of her Breeds books, I just didn't connect with this book as much as I thought I would.

Hidden Agendas is part of her Tempting SEALS series, and while this book had all the spice and sizzle of her Breeds books, I just didn't connect with this book as much as I thought I would.

The main characters were likeable enough by themselves, but the minute they had to interact with each other or with anyone else they kind of turned into babbling ninnies- Emily Stanton survived a kidnapping by a vicious drug lord and has been bucking off her dad's protection ever since. She does this through a whole bunch of passive aggressive "research" endeavors for some fabled book she's supposed to be writing. All this does is get her into odd and awkward situations; she reminded me of a petulant teenager, and one who doesn't seem to realize that getting kidnapped and almost murdered isn't a standard experience at that.

Kell, on the other hand, has the required tortured past and hidden secrets which, naturally, are revealed at a really awkward time. He has strong feelings for Emily that kind of pop up out of nowhere- there's some back story between the two characters but it never felt all that convincing to me. Maybe this is because the only time Kell really gets to say anything is while he and Ms. Stanton are scorching the sheets; suffice it to say, he says a lot, but it's the same things over and over again.

The whole story about the drug lord and the mission that all the agents were supposed to be on just didn't work for me. Maybe it's because this isn't the first book in the series, I could have missed some back story that way, but I wasn't always sure what was going on, who was involved, or why we should care.

Meh. I don't know what, specifically it is about this book that made me not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Usually Lora Leigh's books bring out a torrent of emotion and are kind of like a roller coaster ride; this one just fell flat for me. Even the happily ever after didn't strike me as all that special. I'll probably read another book in the series just to give it a fair shake, but I'll go on record now to say that so far, the Breeds series has it all over this one.

Overall Grade: C

I continue to wish that there were more books to this series. I am sure that Ms. Leigh could have come up with as many characters as her Breed books. Alas it wasn't meant to be. This is the fourth story in this series with only one full book and novella left. This is a very good story and a wonderful contribution to the overall series. We do get rid of one of the bad guys but there are several left that need to get what they so richly deserve. We also have to resolve Ian's defection. Kell is a Cajun through and through. Even though he comes from two very rich families his life hasn't been easy. I am not sure I wouldn't have done something to the Mother for her betrayal. I think that she got off easy by dying in a car crash. Kell has grieved for 15 years and now he realizes that it is time to put the past behind him and claim the woman that has fired is heart and soul. He is a warrior as well as a romantic. He can be as cold as ice and burn up the sheets in the next paragraph. I love that he was willing to let Emily have her adventures and to train her to take care of herself and any children they will have. Kell is also loyal to a fault. I was glad that Emily convinced him to make up with his grandparents.

Emily is a typical Navy brat. Her father gave her a taste of adventure and she wants to continue doing the things that he allowed her to do when she was a child. She is very competent driving and she has taken lessons in how to fire a weapon, use a knife and how to fight. She is always researching some new idea for one of her books. Emily is also a kindergarten teacher. Which I think is very cute. She loves her father even though he has been and overbearing, protective ass sometimes. When Kell finally decides, thanks to the ever nasty Fuentes, to take Emily to bed she realizes that she loves Kell. I liked Emily for the post part and I hope to see her in other stories.

Ms. Leigh writes a good suspense story with a plot and covers several books. Her villains are always despicable vermin that really need to be taken out of the gene pool. The action scenes in this book are enthralling. The sex scenes are super spicy and steaming hot. Ms. Leigh also has added some secondary characters that I really enjoyed; Kira Porter and Jordan Malone. I was also glad to see Nathan Malone finally rescued. The story is very good and a quick read. I love the series and look forward to the next book. (less)

I really enjoyed the romance between Kell and Emily. They were very sassy and cute together. However, the suspense part of this story was extremely far fetched even by the standards of romantic suspense. Please do yourself a favor and don't think of the motivation of the bad guys, the implausibility of the "whore's dust" drug, how stupid the name "whores dust" sounds, and the fact that the bad guys are right out of an after school special about how drugs are bad, mmmkay?

#4 Tempting SEALS - Romantic Suspense

Kell Kreiger & Emily Stanton

I like Kell, especially when he lapsed into Cajun-speak (French?).

The suspense/action part of the book picked up the pace toward the end of the book. Lots of sex before that. The cliffhanger ending promises surprises, suspense and lots of action in #5 Killer Secrets.

I liked that Lora Leigh gave her characters Kell and Emily a chance to confront their pasts, learn, and move on as adults :-) Especially Emily, in finally standing...more

I love Lora Leigh’s Breeds and Bound Hearts Series but I have not really being interested in her Tempting Seals series. However a friend gave me two books and I decided to check out how good they were.

Kell, who has been following her, bribes his way into being the man used as a prop for the lap dance. Okay, so here’s wearing sunglasses and hey, Emily can’t believe that a man she doesn’t even know is turning her on so much that she comes in her panties right in front of the sexy guy!!!!! Really. Non!!!

Then, the two main characters. Emily is one of those heroines that annoys me…a feisty, smart virgin, who is totally controlled by her father and one day, suddenly goes from “yes daddy” to “get lost daddy, I’m a big girl now and I will not tolerate you running my life”. And all that “oh he turns me on but I can’t let him control me” rubbish with Kell.

And Kell, more than irritated me…….all that wanting to control Emily because that’s the only way he can make sure she is safe….pluzzzzzzzz….
This author knows how to write hot erotic scenes but I found myself totally disconnected whenever these “two did it”…just did not engage with them or what happened to them.

Some parts of the plot were so implausible – talk about far-fetched…there’s Emily, back in the drug lord’s clutches but this time…no little passive senator’s daughter…she kicks ass now!!!

I must admit that I enjoyed the last part of the story…the bad guys are revealed and more tidbits thrown your way….some new mystery to solve..Hopefully in the next book…..

which I have to now read because –

I LOVED KIRA & IAN…….and I have to know what happens to them.

And Emily has dreamed of Kell since... and Kell has dreamed of her, stalking her when he is in town, but staying out of sight... Emily is a Kindergarden teacher, and writes romances - but her publisher wants more passion in her romances, so she does research... interesting research - investigating a S&M establishment, learning to perform a lap dance, etc... she has also continued to build her skills with guns, driving skills, & self defense...

Her father is manipulating her & Kell, figuring that they are destined to ber together... He sends got bodyguards to her - and she believes they are not only protecting her, but to entice her into bed & marriage... she keeps her emotional distance from them, but none last more than 2 months as she pushes limits that drive them and her father crazy..

two years ago, she was kidnapped by Fuentes and drugged with a made up drug that is date rape drug times 100... she is kidnapped with two other sentator's daughters, and one SEAL member. the other two were raped - one dying a couple of days after rescue, the other still in hospital care... she was not raped. Kell and the SEALs rescue them, and Kell knows his heart was lost when even under the influence of the drug she was trying to comfort the other women and help in their rescue...

Now Fuentes is planning on taking her again... it's quite convoluted... one of the SEAL team is Ian - and is Fuentes' last son - and Fuentes wants him in his fold, and is manipulating things to that end... and Ian is secretly feeding the senator's team information and finally agrees to go to his father for the release of his SEAL brother< Nathan... Nathan has been their test subject for the new date rape drug - but he has not had sex with any of the women brought to him because of his love for his wife... but he is all but crazy now... and then there is Kira - her friend, who is also an undercover DEA agent (who has a thing for Ian, hmmmm) and the hospitalized daughter's senator father is the one trying to manipulate Emily's father - and is the one who was behind her 1st kidnapping & is planning to kidnap her again... he allowed his daughter to be raped in front of him... and he wants Emily for himself for awhile, before he sells her to a terrorist...

In defense of new threat, Kell is assigned to be with Emily - and he woos her oh so nicely... he recognizes her spirit, and in fact revels in it as he knows he needs a woman who can and will protect herself and their children when he is gone... though he struggles with the desire to control her, he knows her freedom is more important... unbeknownst to her (because she hadn't seen him in 7 years, and because he kept his glasses on ) her practice lap dance is done for him... and once they under the same roof, he is seductive, but lets her take the lead... a very sensuous scene when he allows her to touch him & to experiment with sucking his penis (she read about it) without taking control... and things, of course, escalate from there. and Emily, with Kell's support, stands up to both Kell & her father to participate in her own protection.... ahhhh

not anticipating the senator & his wife, she does end up kidnapped, but they track her and get to her almost immediately... she is in the cell with the SEAL that has been drugged - she is his last test.... and he has a knife, and will either kill himself or her rather than rape her... but Kell comes before it is too late... and both are rescued - she gets to shoot the senator, but Fuentes gets away...

and Ian keeps his bargain, and says goodby to an injured Kira, and goes to his father... and Kell & Emily are ready to put the past behind them and to fully build a family...(less)

Amazing! This was the best in the series yet. I was hanging on every word. I loved Kell, his background story and the man he had become. Loved Emily's thirst for life and all she could experience and how she went about it under her dads protective eye.
This book had it all, the suspense, romance, sexy loving, hot seal (god how I love Kell Krieger) the interesting story. Much better than the first ones in the series.

Put on fan on or have a glass of ice cold water on stand by when you read this. I'm not sure what the lure is but strong alpha males submitting to wanton female totally gets me going. Well....so far I have been pretty disappointed in this series. It's as if a completely different author is writing this series (as opposed to the Nauti series). I don't even really know how to even express what it is that bothers me about this series. Some of the language feels trite and overused. If Kell called Emily a vixen one more time I was going to scream. We get it..she's a vixen...she's his little fox. Whatever.

The most striking thing about Leigh's writing is that she does erotica very well. The language is explicit, which might be a deal breaker for some readers, but the sensuality and lust she captures is very sexy and will leave many a reader pining for the male lead.

I was really looking forward to this story based on the premise that the hero, Kell, has known the heroine, Emily, since she was a kid. I thought there might be some established feelings between the two. That didn't really seem to be any basis after all. In fact I got tired of reading about the Senator/former SEAL father who was always trying to push men/bodyguards on his daughter in order to marry her off and get her in bed. Holy Moly...This is one of my favourites in the series so far.Kell is just incredible.He is alpha and dominant in the best possible way and not irritatingly arrogant.I loved his accent and the things he said in the heat of passion left me all tingley.He has a very sad back story which makes you just want to love him!

Being stubborn, er, persistent does pay off and I'm glad I didn't give up on this series after the craptastic Reno's Chance (in Honk If You Love Real Men Four Tales of Erotic Romance) and the disastrous Dangerous Games. For Maggie's Sake (in Real Men Do It Better) was pretty good, but it was "just" a novella and so loosely connected to the series that I wasn't completely sold... until now. Yup, Hidden Agendas has finally made my previous suffering worthwile, LOL.
