I've read several of the books in this series to my son recently. There is a lot of humor in this book that both children and adults will enjoy. (example: Mrs. Shotsky is the nurse, Mrs. Aria is the choir teacher, and Mr. Neater is the custodian. Okay, maybe I have a warped sense of humor, but I thought it was a brilliant use of vocabulary. My son and I had a discussion about what each name represented. It was a teachable moment...) Anyhow... These books are terrific for my son, and he lo

In this book it's about three young detectives looking for a lost skeleton used for an example to your body. It started out when one of the detectives was sent to the nusre for a bruise where he found out that the skeleton "Mr.Bones" wasn't at the spot he was suppose to be in. At first the nurse thought someone was borrowing it but after she asked everybody she found out it was actually missing and this is where the detectives come in. The kids liked The School Skeleton, but I really got the sense that we were plodding through this one with some difficulty. The kids have seemed eager to read some of the other books in this A to Z Mysteries series, in particular The Haunted Hotel, but none of us were really jumping up and down to get through this one. I hate to say it, but I think that we all thought this one was a little boring. I think that it might be time to try a new series.

This is a clever book in the A to Z mystery series. It's not as dramatic or suspenseful as some of the other stories. And in fact, it feels more like a "Cam Jansen" book than a typical book in this series. But it's a fun story to read aloud with children and the clues are all there to help them solve the mystery. We are thoroughly enjoying Mr Roy's books and look forward to the next one!

Again, my daughter loved this book and handed it to me to read. I also liked it. Roy doesn't talk down to kids--he obviously sees kids as smart and clever and capable of being independent. This is essential for me, because I also think that, and I get mad when people talk to kids like they're somehow inferior beings.
An extra star for no non-realistic elements. The storyline i More...

Dea didn't want to read this because she had tried an A to Z book before and didn't like it. When she did pick it up she thought it was great and is willing to try out another one.

This is one of the A to Z Mysteries and is definitely geared to a young audience.
