It is there that she encounters grizzly cub Toklo and a mysterious changeling named Ujurak. Once united, the cubs find themselves on a journey toward a mystical place--if only they knew where.

While I think this has really strong positive messages about being more aware of the other creatures on the planet besides humans, I thought at times it could be overly preachy. I also found Lusa to be somewhat annoying at times. Overall, I enjoy the story though and will continue because I know Tui T. Sutherland helped with this series.

Oh. My. God. Is all I can say! It was prefect, even Toklo was awesome!
I loved seeing more black bears and white bears, and grizzles!
It wasn't a romance book, --nah-nah, Mom!--- it was a sweet story about bears that travel together....it was awesome!
And yes, even adults can read this book! 5*'s!

Loved reading about my bear friends again.
Too bad there was no map in the book to follow their journey (the first book in the series did).

I enjoyed the Warriors series and also enjoy Redwall series for a similar reason. Seekers seems to have that same element. When you use animals to tell your story you can follow big truths like courage even better than if you are using humans. In Great Bear Lake there are big themes, like courage ,jealousy, abandonment, and faith. Some reviewers dislike the ecological doomsday piece.. but missing polar ice is a fact right? I will probably keep reading about these bears on their journey.

Great bear lake is a fun, easy read. It really makes you think about how animals might feel about us. I also feel a little bad for animals because of this book. It really makes you think "Are we really not giving these animals enough space to live and be happy?"
Great bear lake starts with Lusa, a black bear, finally meeting Toklo, a brown bear, after searching for him for a long time. These two bears and a brown bear named Ujarak make a final push to great bear lake so that they can have the e

I loved it so much, the story of three bears on a journey to the wilderness to be safe from the humans, or as they call us flat faces. I got so obsessed in the last term of grade 5 that I read all three first books. In the start of grade 6 I was sad because the library only had the first 3 books. So one day me and my best friend went to the public library to look around, I instantly knew what I was looking for, but of corse I didn't have my library card. When I found the 4th book I went crazy, s ...more

The book overall was a fascinating, and interesting book. It was based off several bears who seemed to have great character development. The plot was also very interesting. The only thing I found dull about the book was at some moments it was very predictable.

I liked the book because they were basically trying to survive and I love books where they have to survive. The story kind of switched like every chapter to a different character, so it was kind of confusing. The white bears stole a black bear, but the black bear got away by other bears distracting the one bear that stole the black bear. This was a great book because I like reading about bears attacking each other. It just interests me. The book is also about how one bear has to survive basicly ...more

Personally, I didn't find this book right for me. I am the kind of person to easily forget what I read. This book is slightly more than 300 pages, and I forgot most of what is in the book.

This book was very well written in my opinion. It had very powerful words that describes the scene very well. I think the author did a very good job writing this book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fiction books. Also, I would recommend this book to any animal kind of person. Overall, I thought

This is the second book in the Seekers series by the group of authors known as Erin Hunter. Our youngest daughter and I started this series when we'd read all of the Warriors books (published so far) and were waiting for the next one to come out.

The plot is incredibly contrived and preachy and I am just not really into the plot at all. I've grown to like the main characters, but overall, the story just isn't as engaging as our beloved Warriors books.

Our daughter didn't even finish the book - s

I read this sequel to "Seekers: The Quest Begins' after my teen, who enjoys Erin Hunter's animal stories. This book reminded me of "The Lord of the Rings," bear-style, with long, miserable trips where the travelers are feeling haggard, rough, worn-out, sore - miserable. This is the kind of book that leaves you feeling tired. I do like Lusa's determination and bravery, and Kallik's insistence on compassion. Toklo faces his own fears. The descriptions are well-told as to what a bear would see and ...more

I chose this book because I had already read the first book of the series and wanted to continue reading, so I chose the second book. The plot of the book is three bears named, Lusa,Ujurak, and Toklo, one brown and two black are on a journey together to find the place were the bears gather at Great Bear Lake to unite and find food. My favorite quote is when Ujurak tackles Toklo to save the young boy. This is my favorite quote because I wonder what bears think when they eat humans or are attackin ...more

Erin Hunterin "Iso Karhujärvi" (Jalava, 2013) on toinen osa Etsijät-sarjassa, joka kuvaa kolmen nuoren karhun - harmaakarhu Toklon, mustakarhu Lusan ja jääkarhu Kallikin - villiretkiä Kanadan erämaissa. Kolmikko jatkaa pohjoista kohti suuntautuvaa vaellustaan ja kokee moninaisia seikkailuja. Vihamieliset lajitoverit aiheuttavat ongelmia, eikä luontokaan tunnu olevan enää entisensä, sillä ruokaa on entistä vähemmän ja lattanaamojen reviiri tuntuu olevan aina laajempi ja laajempi. In Great Bear Lake by Erin Hunter, the story continues to follow the lives of the three bears: a black bear named Lusa, a polar bear named Kallik, and a brown bear named Toklo. In this story, an old character named Taqqiq is brought back and a new character named Ujurak is introduced. Lusa finds Toklo on her quest, but there is another bear with Toklo. His name is Ujurak and he is a brown bear, most of the time. Kallik is on a quest to find her brother, Taqqiq, but when she finds him, she realiz ...more

My Book Review on GREAT BEAR LAKE by Erin Hunter
by: Olivia Wang
Great Bear Lake is part of a Series called Seekers by Erin Hunter. At the beginning, Luca already reached her goal which is to find Tokyo and help him in the wildlife. Tokyo and Luca was with Ujaurak who was the only person who knows the way where bear spirits dance in the sky. Kallik's goal is to find his brother where she lost when her family was trying to swim across a body of water; her mother died from orcas. It's about Luca,

The stars say a 4/5 rating, but my real rating of this book is about 3.5/5, and I'll try to explain why.

Another good book in this series, and I'm definitely going to follow this one to the very end (I might even pick up the second series, Return to the Wild, after I'm finished with this one). I love seeing these bears bonding with one another, and even though bears are solitary animals by nature (it's even mentioned a few times in these books), their banding together still retains some plausibil

Seekers Great Bear Lake, the second book in the series Seekers, is about three bear cubs. One is Kallik the polar bear, Lusa the black bear, and Toklo the brown/grizzly bear. They are all following the Pathway Star to find the last great wilderness, but along the way they all need to face their own challenges. Kallik needs to find her lost brother who, after loosing her mother to the orca, had grown cold and is stealing from other bears on the day of peace. Toklo needs to travel out to the Pawpr ...more

I choose this book beacuse my mom & brother had read it & they thought it would be a fun book for me to read.

3. What was your fvorite quote & why?

I had tried to read Seekers when I was nine and given up on it. I attribute this mostly to the fact that I started on book three. Out of boredom four years later I picked this up and read it cover-to-cover, and it actually wasn't bad. I enjoyed how the characters' separate worlds gradually merge closer and closer; it was a refreshing alternative to my traditional Warriors and Beatles biography fare. (I need to branch out, don't I?)

Great Bear Lake went from boring, to getting a bit better, to WOW!!! There are many surprises in this book. My least favorite character is Kallik. She a bit too nice. I really like Toklo and Lusa. Ujurak is so really cool because he turns into any species of an animal. Kallik was much better in the first book. I don't like that there is so much tragedy in her life. Her mother dies, she can't find her brother, her friend that was almost like a second mother, Nanuk, died when a metal bird(helicopt ...more

I really think that Erin Hunter, the author likes to write from a characters perspective because then people will get to know the character better and that'll be good. I also think this because then that'll make the story easier to be told. In this book all the three main characters meet up by the bear lake and a few of them get into danger. They are saved but I think that they were all surprised. For example, when Toklo went to the island for one day a grown bear went and was trying to kill Tok ...more

If you thought this would be bad because it was a take off of warriors (that's what I thought), its not. THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME BOOK!
