My Book Review on GREAT BEAR LAKE by Erin Hunter
by: Olivia Wang
Great Bear Lake is part of a Series called Seekers by Erin Hunter. At the beginning, Luca already reached her goal which is to find Tokyo and help him in the wildlife. Tokyo and Luca was with Ujaurak who was the only person who knows the way where bear spirits dance in the sky. Kallik's goal is to find his brother where she lost when he...more

In Great Bear Lake by Erin Hunter, the story continues to follow the lives of the three bears: a black bear named Lusa, a polar bear named Kallik, and a brown bear named Toklo. In this story, an old character named Taqqiq is brought back and a new character named Ujurak is introduced. Lusa finds Toklo on her quest, but there is another bear with Toklo. His name is Ujurak and he is a brown bear, most of the time. Kallik is on a quest to find her brother, Taqqiq, but when she finds him, she rea...more
Erin Hunter has done it again. This book followed along with the first so well. The story continues with Kallik, Lusa, Toklo and Ujurak. They finally get to the gathering of each species of bear. This book deals with the struggle of the last leg of the journey and the starvation of the bears. Each species of bear is starving, they're praying to the spirits to bring them food and a good year. Toklo gets over his fear of water and Kallik FINALLY finds her brother. Lusa meets more bears of her kind...more

I absolutely ADORED this book! There are several reasons that this series stands out to me. (Out of the first three books, this one's my favorite.)
1. Erin Hunter's writing style. She writes very desciptively and smoothly, so the story is easy to follow with little need for imagination to fill in the blanks. She also describes all of our common words for everyday life (summer, cars, people, etc.) with a bear's perspective. It's fun and enjoyable.

Well so far with only one book left to finish in the series (or the FIRST series) this is probably the best book.
With Lusa, Toklo and Ujurak togther and Khalik on her own, the seeking ends on the great bear lake where all the bears gather for the longest day in the year.
I just LOVED it, there were many dangers and many events and loads of cutness and plenty of beauty you can imagine. This series is sure DIFFRENT than the Warriors. Erin Hunter is (are) just the best :D

Great Bear Lake went from boring, to getting a bit better, to WOW!!! There are many surprises in this book. My least favorite character is Kallik. She a bit too nice. I really like Toklo and Lusa. Ujurak is so really cool because he turns into any species of an animal. Kallik was much better in the first book. I don't like that there is so much tragedy in her life. Her mother dies, she can't find her brother, her friend that was almost like a second mother, Nanuk, died when a metal bird(helicopt...more
I really liked this book because it was very easy to see the drama and adventure unfold as it is read. This story is sure to captivate children as they travel on the journey of twist and turns with the characters. I think that this story appeal to children because it resemble the calamity of the three bears that we are so familiar with as children only with a lot more excitement and adventure. This is a good read.
This series started out with such promise, but I have to say I'm getting ticked off with the whole animal starvation, habitat devastation thing, especially since it's set in CANADA! We have our issues, but our wilderness is still in pretty good shape. British authors........I guess they (the Erin Hunters) needed new territory that included polar bear and brown bear habitat. It's getting a little weird.
Now, I half liked "The Quest Begins" and half didn't like it (but I gave it four stars), but I didn't give up on the series. This book I really liked. They meet at Great Bear Lake (I don't think that's a spoiler because the book is called "Great Bear Lake") where bears meet bears. This book I liked better than "The Quest Begins"
Review by Natalie B.
A polar bear, grizzly bear, and a black bear are all taking adventures from their home, and the black bear is looking for the grizzly, and he doesn't know...
I thought it was interesting when the black bear found the grizzly bear
I liked it because it had so much details and it had a lot of adventure in it.

This book goes deeper into Lusa,Toklo, and Ujarak's friendship for eachother. THey find Great Bear Lake and, after much searching, find the other brown and black bears. But when white bears invade black bear territory and steal Mikki, Lusa is far from happy.
This book also has a twist for those of you who were trying to figure out Taqqiq's reaction when Kallik finds him.

i like this book because its about three bears who is trying to go to the same destinations. they are trying to reach the same place, but they all call it differently. This tells me that people can be talking about a same place/ thing, but it can be different names depending on your culture or the way you grew up. This book is part of the Seekers series.

This Book was great. The main idea was trying to get to the great lake where all the bears go at the longest day of the year. This book is a atventure bear loving book. I reccomend this book for 3rd through 5th grade. the main charactors is a brown bear named toklo a black bear named lusa and a special bear named ujurak. Then towards the end a white bear named kallik and taqqiq.
Character development, but plot is limited to the global warming/environmental aspect. Hopefully this book is just setting up the next book. I really like the characters, but I want to find out more about their journey and what they'll find. I'd give this 3 and 1/2 stars if I could.
Hi guys!
I would really appreciate if someone else could post a review so I can have a glimpse at the book. Thanks to any reviewers who share with me! I'll post my review soon-ASAIGTB (As Soon As I Get The Book).
P.S. I've read the first one. Please: compare them? Is it better or worse then book 1? Worth reading?
P.P.S. I'm also a Warriors fan.

If you read my last comments on the 1st seekers you'll understand this better!!! All three bears just come together... at the end!! But the book is all about the adventure of a polar bear, a black bear who was in the zoo, and a grizzly bear!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the second book in the Seekers series, and I liked it better than the first.
At first, it doesn't really have a conflict, it's only about the bears' journey. But then, the last parts were very exciting and I just can't believe there's going to be another book!
All along this book, I just love Toklo. I just feel sorry because he felt that his mother abandoned him, and he just doesn't want to show it to anyone. I really like that. I don't really like the parts about Kallik, she a...more

Fantasy genre. Three bear cubs of different species are united for the first time as they begin their long journey in search of destiny, hope, and what it truly means to be a bear in the wild. Second in series. gr. K-4.
Not as great as the first one; I still love the characters (Lusa is such a darling), but the first half of this novel seems really fillerish. I'll definitely continue and I have high hopes for the next.
my cosen was reading this book and I was realy interested in it becuse it is by the same person who wrote warrors and my cusen gave me the first one and this one and at silver wood beren got a black bear that looked like lusa.

I thought that this second book in the series was a good one, it starts off with lusa finding ujurak, and toklo and the trio go on an amazing journey to find the place where the bear spirits dance in the sky!
All three species of bears are headed for Great Bear Lake. But the journey is a difficult one, the flatfaces are taking more and more of the bears land. Food is scarce and every bear is suffering. It is a time of great turmoil. These five bears loyalty in there ancestors spirits will be tested to the up most extreme. Will they make it to Great Bear Lake? And what will happen to them when they get their?
This book is filled to the top with action, excitement, and a whole lot of adventure! I defenately reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys having there heart pound every step of the way!
Another book borrowed from Jayme thatI enjoyed! There are some sad parts that may be too much for sensitive readers but I loved this book! Now I need to read the rest of the series :)

I enjoyed the Warriors series and also enjoy Redwall series for a similar reason. Seekers seems to have that same element. When you use animals to tell your story you can follow big truths like courage even better than if you are using humans. In Great Bear Lake there are big themes, like courage ,jealousy, abandonment, and faith. Some reviewers dislike the ecological doomsday piece.. but missing polar ice is a fact right? I will probably keep reading about these bears on their journey.
This was a really bad book! Sorry Hunter! I stopped half way through! I guess I just wasn't into this type of book anymore, but it was sorta boring!
i thought that the adventure of the bears are amazing. my favrite part is when they meet killik. the adventure is so amazing by the details.
