Berlarian sedikit, ngambek, iseng, dibilang kekanak-kanakan.
Lalu apa iya More...

I hated every page of this book. I'm a pretty big fan of the JM Barrie characters and stories. I've seen some terrible movies and poor representations before, but this novel took it to a level I could never have ever imagined. I'm just going to have to act like I never read this book.

First, I must say, I respect the Great Ormond Street Hospital. I repect that JM Barrie wanted to provide for their amazing work and devotion to children. They comissioned an "authorized" sequel More...

Interesting story. If you wish you can stay as a child forever, think about it again. Even children have their own problems. But that won't keep their rights in shadows, a right to possess imaginations and live it up.

So Wendy and the Lost boys must return to Neverland, as something surely happened in the dreamland. Pan has changed alot, he is not himself. The Ravelling man is turned out to be their old foe.

What an adventure. You can't just read it, you ought to enter the More...

This is billed as the first authorized sequel to Peter Pan. I have long loved the original and read it many times. In addition I had read two Peter Pan Starcatcher books last summer, and though I enjoyed them, was disappointed at not finding either the true Peter Pan character, or a faithful adherence to the details of the original story. So I approached this one with hope tempered by scepticism. I was pleased to find in this book the true Pan, and a story that stays true to the details of th More...

While Dave Barry’s Peter & The Starcatchers books have brought the story to life for a whole new generation of kids this is the first officially sanctioned sequel to Peter Pan. McCaughrean’s envisions a Neverland destroyed by lack of belief, “old boys” who used to be lost boys, Peter Pan the only child and a whole new pesky pixie named Fireflyer. McCaughrean takes readers very convincingly back to a changed Neverland but the adventure is fulfilling and entirely believable. This is an ambitious More...

Hook is Back!

No, I'm not referring to Tootles' line in the film "Hook", though that film is a wonderful sequel to "Peter Pan". I'm talking about the book "Peter Pan in Scarlet" by Geraldine McCaughrean.

I love pirate stories - and "Peter Pan" is undeniably a pirate story. Though ultimately tragic, it has all the elements of a swashbuckling tale: pirates, of course, swordfights, kidnapping, intrigue, faeries and one hungry crocodile. More...

So, iseng-iseng gw pun memasuki toko buku tersebut. Setelah melihat-lihat, akhirnya gw gak tahan lagi. Akhirnya gw keluar dengan satu buku kecil berjudul Peter Pan in Scarlet (Peter Pan Berjubah Merah). Jujur aja, gw More...

Seandainya Neverland More...

The Lost Boys are dreaming of Neverland and bits of their old adventures are spilling out into their adult lives. Something has obviously gone wrong in Neverland, so Wendy and the Lost Boys head back to find out what.

It was a very interesting premise, and I quite liked the setup, but Peter Pan in Scarlet was not quite the dashing, rollicking adventure that I was expecting. Much attention is given to the set-up and the novel takes quite a while to build to its climax. I found myself l More...

This is the ‘official sequel’ to Peter Pan and I was really looking forward to it. However, I found it rather lacking in excitement and (and I know this sounds odd, given that the original was fantasy) too far-fetched. It was very slow and I didn't think she'd captured the essence of the 'lost boys' at all.

I loved Barrie's writing style and the humour in Peter Pan - this book didn't have much humour at all, although the opening line was funny so I thought it would be more amusing than it was. More...

This was a difficult read; considering this is a children's book I am not sure if that is a feat by the author or if it says something about me as a reader. Maybe I expected too much. I had heard so much about the book in 2008, about how it was an OFFICIAL SEQUEAL exclamation point exclamation point one exclamation point.

True, no one can really capture what J.M. Barrie originally created. It is too difficult to fully step into the shoes of another.

It was just hard to choke do More...

The problem with authors writing a story based on another's work is the risk of it either seeming like fan-fiction or just a poor imitation. Instead of making the story truly hers, McCaughrean tries to duplicate Barrie's way of writing and it just doesn't quite work. Sometimes she's close, but often it just feels off.

Neverland is a very complicated place and I think that Barrie's imaginative madness there is just not possible to duplicate. Pan returns as his complicated self, but he' More...

Utter crap.

McCaughrean tries too hard to write like Barrie, and fails miserably.
Peter is not Peter he's... some horrible doppleganger of Peter.
Plot?
Huh?
There's a plot?

Oh yeah... THAT.

It's a predictable, muddled mess.

Tinkerbell is sadly under-represented and her behavior is decidedly un-Tink-like.

Michael... Michael who? Oh yeah, he was mentioned four times. MENTIONED.

It was weird reading the 'sequel' of Peter Pan when my best knowledge of him comes through Disney. So, I am not sure how this relates to the original book but I missed the fun and action and fairies. Jane and the Lost Boys go back to Neverland because they have all been having dreams that it is in trouble and when they get there they find a very different place than the one they left. They find Peter and start to forget their adult lives in London. Peter suggests they go on an adventure to find More...

No, I thought, this book is crap! I didn't understand anything.
But something about this book made me go on reading.
I just couldn't put it away to forget about it forever.
Then it got clearer and better and I really got into it.
I read and read and suddenly it was finished.
And I was so amazed by this book, I stared at it and said wow.

Dear Geraldine,

Imajinasi kamu memang liar. Sampai-sampai aku kehabisan napas karena harus mengejarmu. Seperti anggota Lost Boy More...

It would be ridiculous to think that a squeal to J.M Barries peter pan could capture the magic and portray peter pan in such a way as the original. Therefore my expectations for this book were low. However, the story was different and unique and that's what keeps me going back to the original over and over. While it may be a bit dark in comparison I enjoyed the adventurous storyline and am happy to say it far exceeded my expectations although not quite reaching the bar set by peter pan. I really More...

This is the official SEQUEL TO PETER PAN!!! The rights of the novel Peter Pan were given to a hospital by the author, so all proceeds of the novel would go to the hospital. A few years ago, the hospital had a contest for writing a sequel to the already cherished story. Geraldine McCaughrean won that contest, and this is her thrilling sequel that she has produced. Please consider reading it or reading it to other children you know!!! I must say, I think all ages should read this to find out a bit More...

I tried to like it. I really did. I love J.M. Barrie, I love the magic of Neverland, and really I just love that Peter Pan never grows up. The writing style of the book was reminiscent of the first, which I liked to a degree. However, I think for me it was less about the plot and the writing style, and more about the fact that Neverland could change. I think what I love about the original is that it seems as though Neverland never will change. So for me, this book just didn't work, but for those More...

Ever since I first heard of and saw this book on the shelf (beautifully themed as a pirate ship, and featuring a great deal of Peter Pan literature and merchandise) at Harrods in London, I've been intrigued by the idea. According to the Foreword, this book was the result of a competition held by the Great Ormond Street Hospital, to whom Barrie left all rights to Peter Pan. They had authors submit general outlines and their first chapter, and picked the one they thought best represented the ori More...

Well, first I liked it and then I didn't, but it got better at the end. Though the plot seemed to lose its way (it did tie together eventually but it was a long wait) the one thing that I consistently enjoyed was the "perfect pitch" writing of the author in keeping with a book that would have been written in the 1920's. The similes and metaphors and turns of phrase were delightful and well suited for the tone and setting of the authorship. If a reader can hold on to the end the rewa More...

This was a decent children's book.

I found many parts of the beginning having truly wonderful creativeness that really felt like a true Neverland sequel.

However, it didn't quite last and much of the later parts of the book felt very unsatisfying. Perhaps it was the large difference between the tone of this book and the original tale, but this story just wasn't as magical.

It's not great, but I don't think it's horrible either. It's just very different from wha More...

Wouldn't you like to stay a child forever? Wasn't life much simpler then? Something changed in your world when, one day, somebody asked you "What do you want to be when you grow up?" and you were actually able to give them an answer. Being an adult isn't all it's cracked up to be. In Peter Pan in Scarlet the children from the original story have grown up, but they get one more chance to become children and return to the fantasy world of Neverland.

This is a very good book. I More...

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. Pada tahun 2004, Great Ormond mengadakan sayembara untuk penulisan kelanjutan cerita Peter Pan.
