I've just finished this and have to say how great it was.

The story follows on from book 2, and is Claire and Adams story.

Claire finds herself pushed from the demon realm carrying a "burden" that she doesn't really want or need.....she meets up with Adam who also carries a burden alto' one of a very different kind. Their relationship is plagued by a pair of rogue demons (who followed her from the demon realm, and who are intent on obtaining the "burden" she carries).

We learn more about the dem...more

Well, Anya Bast continues building her intricate universe with "Witch Heart", book three in her 'Elemental Witches' series. Bast has made a very successful crossover from smaller erotica publishers to wicked hot mainstream publishing. Her stories still carry the added oomph that's characteristic of her writing background. This series is building to what should be a battle of epic proportions if she keeps it up! With each book, as soon as I begin I'm pulled back into her worlds of daemons and wit...more

Really 3.5 stars

I strongly recommend the previous books in this series be read (Witch Fire and Witch Blood) before reading this book. I enjoyed this story, it was fast paced and action-packed. Claire the earth witch slave we met in the previous book Witch Blood, fines herself in a pickle when in turn she herself, has been involuntarily pushed through the doorway from Eudea (the demon realm) to the human realm. Having very little knowledge for the human culture, Claire cleverly tries to survive a...more

Boy, it's just not my week. I set aside Witch Heart so I could start on Big Bad Wolf and I guess I got what I deserved. The only thing is, I didn't like Witch Heart a whole lot more than I liked Big Bad Wolf. It's too bad, really. Enough to turn a girl off Paranormal Romance for a while. Kidding!

I knew going into this book that I wasn't reading the first book in the series. I was prepared for missing puzzle pieces and not being able to co...more

Anya Bast creates one of my favorite characters in Which Heart. I love it when the females in a story are stronger than the males. Yet, even though Claire is more powerful than other witches she is venerable in a way no other witch is.

Claire has lived most of her life in a demon realm where her somewhat-caring master performs experiments on her magic, altering it in such a way that she is able to draw on all four elements at once. But the power threatens to consume her if she uses too much.

When...more

This book mostly follows Claire, a human witch, who was sent to live in the demon world of Eudae by her mother when she was just a child. There she spent her life as a demon handmaiden, until the rouge demons of her land attack her owners in hope of getting a hold of a very powerful weapon. Claire’s demon owner then places this magick within her and sends her to earth hoping to keep this magic out of the hands of evil. Once on earth she finds that no one knows about witches and that she is compl...more

If three and a half stars were available that is what I would give Witch Heart. I enjoyed the storyline but once again Ms. Bast inserted so many sex scenes that it began to interfere with the plot. This was my complaint with book one in the series; however, Bast toned it down some in book 2 making it better. I am not sure if she is using sex as a page filler or what but, after awhile I found myself wanting to skip ahead because I was bored. Wow! did I really just write that? Who would have thoug...more

This is by far the best I've read in this series. We've seen Claire in the last few chapters in Witch Blood (Thomas and Isabelle's story). For those who haven't read it yet, she's the one who aided Thomas in going back to Earth from Eudae (demon world).

I liked the story of Claire and Adam. I was skeptical at first because I've been conditioned to expect only those witches with elements that attract each other are compatible in the long term. The author focused on Claire first, a little history o...more

Skipping all of the sex scenes (I read too many of those and there are times I just don't care about it anymore), I find somehow I am less emotionally attached to this book compared to the previous two. I don't know why. MAYBE because this book is focusing on the demon world, and I don't really like it. When this series start it's more on the witches vs. warlocks. The demon is just an additional info. I have more interest to the world of the witches rather than the demon. And this one is filled...more

This was just okay. Definitely not the best of the series so far. I think what put me off a little was the way the dialogue was written. Most of the time I was thinking, "NO ONE talks like that" (especially during the "love" scenes- which there were one too many of and kind of repetitive.) Often that dialogue problem is reserved for scifi/fantasy, but it existed here for me in a big way. The story wasn't bad, but there weren't really any surprises or anything, and I really didn't like the way a...more

I just finished reading this book. It is the third in a series. Claire is a witch that has lived with Demons in their realm since she was a child as a servant/slave. When her master's home is attacked she is sent back to our realm, but Demons follow her to get the powerful weapon she carries. I have to admit I did not think I would like this book because the main protagonists were constantly on the run, but I found it added to the emotional effect of the book. I kept thinking were they going to...more

Early yesterday morning I finished Witch Heart (Elemental Witches, #3) by Anya Bast (★★★). This book has been sitting on my shelf awhile mostly b/c I couldn't remember much from the previous two books in the series and was too lazy to go back and re-read them. Well, I shouldn't have worried that much about it. Yes, there's a series plot arc that I was a bit fuzzy on, but the books stands pretty well as an individual and some of the series plot came back to me as I read.

The series is PNR and thi...more

I'm reading this book and I like it a lot! Before I started reading I kinda figured the next couple would be Adam and Claire. Both of them are perfect matches, I like the fact that Adam is able to keep himself away from him and instead of him seducing her its Claire seducing him! Only thing is Adam, Thomas, Theo and lose good friends and including the girl he was romantically involved with! It hurts really bad! I am also very heartbroken, Adam lost his wife to a crazed warlock. She was human, wh...more

Claire had been in the demon dimension since still was six..
Her mother was a warlock - that is a witch who was 'gone over to the dark side'.

She has been a handmaiden to Rue - He is experimenting with her power and he is adding other elements to her so that she now has air earth water and fire elements

Then one day bad demons called Atrika attack

Meh, nothing too special. And as far as the romance goes, "Even though I slept my way around the world, for some reason sex is different with her" is no longer a valid basis for love for me. The whole "she is different from everyone else" just doesn't ring true anymore. We're all different from each other, from our personalities to our backgrounds, our religions to our political views, our genetics to our environments. So falling in lust because she is "different" doesn't make sense. And I'm sor...more

Witch Heart is book three of Anya Bast's Elemental Witch series. Claire is a human that has been living as a handmaiden to a demon in another world Eudae, since she was six years old. After Thomas, head of the Chicago witch coven accidentally went through the portal and found himself in Eudae, Claire helped him to escape back to Earth (Book 2, Witch Blood). Claire's demon gifts her with a powerful magical weapon, the Elium which is attached to her core magic. She goes through the portal to Earth...more

Claire doesn't know the true meaning of right. Almost her entire life as a handmaiden in the world of Demons serving her master, almost like a father, Rue she has not had the freedom of other daughters. Because she is a witch/half demon, there are rules that will lock her in a cage. But when Rue kingdom is attacked by another less friendly demon army, he sends Claire to Earth and find the Coven witches for help. Along with the power the Atrikas want inside her. She begins her journey to Earth by...more

I loved the first book in this series, and the world the author established, but I've lost that earlier desire to see what happens next. This was not quite a 4* read for me, in part for the same reason that others may love it - when the main characters are literally running for their lives from more-powerful-than-anyone demons who can literally poof into their room and annihilate them, the author has them take long time-outs for mind-blowing lovemaking. OK, put that way, what's not to like?! But...more

I'm glad I continued with the series after not really liking the first book all that much.

I really liked learning more about the demons and Eudae, and Claire is definitely my favourite protagonist so far. I also enjoyed that although there were plenty of steamy scenes they didn't take up more of the book than the actual story.

The world building was good in this one, and I know there are only 4 books so i am hoping Witch Fury will answer some of the questions about the warlocks and tie up any loo...more

Out of all the book in the series, this one seems to be the longest.
Too much drama.
Too much blood & gore.

It just dragged on.
And still no ending for Stefan.

I like reading about the same characters, so I will be reading the next book in the series.

If you are reading the series, I would suggest skipping the book.
There is death.
There is Adam and Clair in love.
The end...
See? I saved you a few hours.

This was a random library pick-up. And let me say I'm glad I did pick it up.

This is book 3 in the series, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything from reading this without the history of the others. While the action takes place on Earth, their is an alternate world that was created that is full of magic. And the smexin' was HOT.

I look forward to finding the other books in this series.

This had the potential to have a more interesting storyline than Witch Blood (the previous book in the series). The sex scenes were a little too long for my tastes as I don't care for Bast's style in them and they did not seem to make a lot of sense in the story either, other than perhaps in a "well if it looks like we are all going to die..." way. I like the premise of the main character, though the wrap up with Rue was too fast and neat.

This is some of the best writing I have read, I'm totally and utterly besotted with this series I cant leave it alone. The characters are just captivating, interesting and detailed while the story is clever and controlled. I don't read the Bourbon as I'm so excited to find out who's the next installment. I really love Micah though...every bookworms dream lol. You have to read this, your missing greatness!!! X

Let me just say I love the elemental witches books, but this one was kind of slow in the beginning and it wasn't one that I could read right through. So the problem was I kept putting it down. As the story progress and Adam came into play. Then it was game on!!!I do love how the author turned the shy scared swan into a warrior. Claire had a few waiting to exhale and enough moments in the story. I really think this book was well written and is a good read, but the beginning for me was kind of dry...more

Third in the series - and like so many others, this one did not seem as compelling to me. Don't get me wrong, it was not bad, but somehow I just didn't seem to care as much and the story seemed to drag. The characters of Adam and Claire were good and their chemistry was nice. I have the next one in this series but I don't know how much further I'll go into this one if it does not get any better.
Jackie (Literary Escapism)
I have to say that Anya Bast hasn’t let me down with a story yet. Witch Heart continues a great series that is only going to get better when Witch Fury comes out this summer and I am going to be sad to see it end.

Anya Bast is the author of numerous works of romantic fiction, mostly all paranormal and mostly all scorching hot. She lives in the country with her husband, daughter, eight cats, a dog, and an odd assortment of rescued animals.

She grew up in Minnesota and still favors the colder climates. After high school she moved to the southeast United States where she attended college. While in graduate scho...more
